Acylact

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

This preparation contains live acidophilus lactobacilli with antagonistic activity, namely strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus 100ash, NK1 and K3Sh24. Lactobacilli in the preparation are preliminarily lyophilized and supplemented with sucrose-gelatin-milk medium. Acylact is characterized by high antagonistic activity against pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, for example, staphylococci, Proteus and enteropathogenic Escherichia coli. During the treatment, restoration of bacteriocenosis of the female genitalia was noted, metabolism to the formation of lactic acid was improved, and the pH of the vaginal environment was normalized. As you know, an acidic vaginal environment is considered unfavorable for the emergence of acid-sensitive pathogenic microorganisms, so the drug helps to increase local immunity.

Data on the pharmacokinetics of Acylact are not provided.

Acylact

Acylact is a domestic probiotic bacterial preparation based on live acidophilic lactobacilli. It is highly antagonistic towards pathogenic and facultative pathogenic bacteria, including staphylococci, enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Shigella, Proteus. This “unaccommodation” of acylact, in a good sense, predetermines its corrective effect in cases of disorders of the bacteriocenosis of the intestines and oral cavity. Thus, the scope of application of the drug is quite wide and covers diseases of the oral mucosa of inflammatory origin and dysbiotic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. One of the therapeutic “specializations” of acylact is generalized periodontitis. Antibacterial agents are considered the drugs of choice in this case, but antibiotic therapy is often not justified and only worsens the clinical picture. A massive antimicrobial attack seriously and permanently disrupts the biocenosis of the oral cavity, suppressing the local immunity of the mucous membranes. Such population deviations of the bacterial microflora are difficult to correct and lead to the emergence of resistant strains of microorganisms, followed by dysbacteriosis and the development of hypersensitivity to various allergens, including microbial ones. In recent years, to balance the autoflora, increase immunity, and minimize allergic phenomena, periodontists are increasingly resorting to the help of probiotics - preparations containing live bacteria, one of which is acylact. This drug has performed well in clinical studies in patients suffering from periodontitis. Thus, after 2-3 therapeutic sessions, they noted a clear decrease in the intensity of the inflammatory process, that is, acylact had a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect on periodontal tissue. As inflammation in the gums was eliminated, the permeability of the capillary walls decreased. During acylact therapy, the content of lysozyme, an enzyme endowed with the ability to cause hydrolysis of bacterial cells, significantly increased in the saliva of patients.

After completing the drug course, a significant decrease in microbial contamination of periodontal tissues was observed. The bacteria that most often cause periodontitis - Staphylococcus aureus and auricularis, Streptococcus mutans, Candida tropicalis, Enterobacter cloacae - were practically not isolated during culture. When monitoring the long-term results of pharmacotherapy, it was found that the use of acylact ensures the preservation and maintenance of the normal composition of the microflora of the oral cavity for up to six months, while in the control group of patients receiving other treatment, the quantitative and qualitative composition of unwanted microorganisms returned to previous levels within 1-3 post-therapy months. In addition to the listed positive changes, more than a third of patients taking Acylact noted a normalization of the functions of the gastrointestinal tract, namely: the disappearance of abdominal pain, discomfort, and “revitalization” of peristalsis. Thus, the results of clinical, microbiological and immunological studies indicate that acylact has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects and can be effectively used for generalized periodontitis.

Among other diseases that acylact successfully treats are vaginal candidiasis, which often occurs during treatment of bacterial vaginosis with antibiotics. The unsentimental nature of antibacterial drugs is such that, having destroyed all conditionally and unconditionally pathogenic microorganisms, they completely eliminate themselves from establishing “constitutional order” in the vagina (read: from restoring normal microflora). In such cases, it is recommended to take probiotic medications, incl. acylact, which helps reduce the risk of recurrence of the disease by increasing the protective properties of the vagina.

Indications for use

Acilact tablets and suppositories, like other forms of the drug, are prescribed for combination treatment:

  • various gynecological diseases accompanied by disruption of the normal state of the vaginal microflora;
  • nonspecific colpitis , vaginal dysbiosis ;
  • subacute and chronic forms of inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs and appendages, in order to restore the microflora ;
  • hormone-dependent and atrophic colpitis and so on.

The drug is also recommended for use as a prevention of the development of vaginal dysbiosis or infectious complications as a result of gynecological operations and during childbirth.

In the treatment of serious diseases, the drug can be prescribed immediately in the form of tablets and, for example, suppositories.

Drug compatibility and special instructions

There are no cases of harmful drug interactions between Acylact suppositories and other medications. The medicine can be combined with other agents with antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties.

If combined with local antiseptics, the therapeutic effectiveness of Acylact suppositories is reduced due to inhibition of the growth and development of lactobacilli.

Pharmacological action and composition of Acilact suppositories

Acylact suppositories: instructions, reviews, use in gynecology

The Latin name of the drug is Acilact, and the ATX code is A07FA01. The active ingredient in the composition is lactobacillus acidophilus. Manufacturer – Russia, Lanafarm LLC, Vitapharma Firm CJSC. Dosage forms - suppositories for vaginal administration, capsules (tablets) for internal administration, lyophilisate for preparing a suspension for oral administration.

Suppositories for intravaginal administration are torpedo-shaped, the color is white or slightly yellowish, the surface is uniform and smooth. 1 suppository contains 10 to the seventh power of CFU (colony-forming units) of bacteria of three different stamps. Microorganisms are lyophilized in a nutrient medium with the introduction of a protective gelatin-sugar-milk medium.

As additional compounds, the instructions for using Acylact suppositories indicate the presence of confectionery fats, emulsifiers, and petroleum paraffin wax. One package contains 10 suppositories. They are packed in cardboard boxes with a paper annotation inside.

The main active component of the drug is a “mixture” of live dried (lyophilized) bacteria llactobacillus acidophilus, which, while colonizing the mucous membrane of the female vagina, provide an immunobiological effect.

Action of the drug:

  • Acylact suppositories help increase local immunity, resistance to negative factors, and help stimulate the humoral and cellular components.
  • The medicine has a suppressive effect on pathogenic and opportunistic microbes during their pathological activity.
  • Suppositories normalize the vaginal biocenosis, providing an increase in the number of microbes - representatives of normal/natural microflora.
  • Lowering the pH of the environment to the acidic side.

The suppositories must be inserted into the vagina as deeply as possible. The active substances are released when melting and are absorbed evenly. They are distributed on the mucous membrane, llactobacillus acidophilus begins to multiply, which is why pathogenic microbes die.

The components of the drug do not penetrate into the bloodstream, so systemic side effects are excluded.

Reviews about Acilact

In most cases, you can find reviews about Acilact on forums dedicated to women's health, or more precisely to the treatment of various diseases of the reproductive system. At the same time, many women try to find out from other participants in discussions or doctors online the causes and names of disorders, methods of treatment, and so on. They also often ask what Acylact suppositories help best and how to use them correctly?

Of course, specialists try to answer patients’ questions, but it is almost impossible to accurately diagnose the disease, as well as prescribe proper treatment. At the same time, reviews from doctors about Acylact suppositories are very ambiguous. For example, some claim that this drug may cause candidiasis , while others report that this is unlikely. The question of how to use suppositories during pregnancy, how effective it is and whether it can cause complications is no less actively discussed.

Although it is believed that this drug does not contain substances harmful to the body, it is not recommended to use it without a doctor’s prescription. The fact is that diagnosing “dysbacteriosis” requires preliminary research. At the same time, they check whether there are pathogenic fungi in the body and how active they are. Therefore, this drug is not used for thrush.

In general, there are many ways to restore normal vaginal microflora, for example, through the intestines. Thanks to this, it is possible to avoid secondary infection, and the recovery process is more efficient.
