Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Herbal preparation. Demonstrates wound healing, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects. Annotation on the product indicates that saponins contained in the drug have antifungal and antibacterial activity.

Triterpenoids have antispasmodic, expectorant and mucolytic effects.

Flavonoids stimulate microcirculation processes, exhibit hepatoprotective and nephroprotective properties, increase diuresis, and promote the excretion of uric acid derivatives.

Mechanism of action

The therapeutic effect of the drug is based primarily on the action of specific substances found in ivy - saponins. Ivy leaves contain more than 50 varieties. Saponins are high-molecular compounds of organic nature.

These substances stimulate the functioning of the cells of the bronchial tree. The production of protective mucus by alveolar cells increases. The glandular cells of the bronchial wall function more actively. Due to this, an expectorant effect is manifested - sputum comes out more easily and the cough is not accompanied by painful sensations.

By reducing bronchial spasticity, saponins exhibit an antitussive effect and help reduce coughing attacks.

In addition, when it enters the stomach, the ivy-based drug causes irritation of certain stomach cells. From them, the impulse travels through the autonomic nervous system to the secretory cells of the bronchi. Receiving such stimulation, they work even more actively.

Ivy also has some immunostimulant properties. Mobilizes immune mechanisms and helps in the treatment of chronic diseases and protracted acute ones.
