Menovazin is a modern analgesic drug with a fairly simple composition, but with a pronounced effect. A specific product is produced in two forms: ointment and solution, which are used topically for pain relief. It should be noted that the drug in question does not allow for the treatment of any ailment - it is a drug used for symptomatic therapy.
Liquid menovazine and ointment form have a similar composition, but they differ only in the fact that ethyl alcohol is present in the solution to give it the necessary consistency and specific properties. Thanks to this, the liquid medicine can be used as a composition for acne, since alcohol will dry out inflammatory processes.
As for the other components, they are present in both the ointment and the solution in equal proportions. The main active element of Menovazin is menthol, which in turn is obtained by processing peppermint essential oil. It should also be noted that the drug in question contains novocaine (this component can also be found under the name procaine) and benzocaine. Both substances belong to the class of analgesic substances used in most known painkillers.

To enhance the analgesic effect, Menovazin can be used in parallel with other warming ointments or painkillers. Since the drug is not used as an independent remedy to directly eliminate the causes of pain, it can be combined with other medicinal formulations.
The solution does not have any effect on the functioning of the nervous system if the recommended dosage is observed, therefore, during treatment it is allowed to control complex mechanisms and transport.
Menovazin external spray for children may be dangerous, since not all clinical studies have been conducted. It should not be used in the treatment of patients under 18 years of age. If there is simply no other treatment option, then the solution must be used under the strict supervision of specialists.
Directions for use and doses
The solution and ointment are applied directly to the area of skin where pain needs to be relieved and rubbed in with light massaging movements. To avoid exposure of the palms to the drug, you can use gloves during application or use a spray form.
Depending on the severity of pain, the solution is applied 2-3 times a day. The duration of treatment is determined by a specialist, but should not exceed 21 days. If relief does not occur during this period, you should consult a doctor to clarify treatment and diagnosis.

Menthol has an analgesic effect; when it comes into contact with the skin, a feeling of coolness occurs, the sensitivity of nerve endings decreases - this eliminates pain and itching. It also fights inflammation. Benzocaine and procaine also have an analgesic function. The combined effect of active components makes Menovazin an indispensable and effective remedy against inflammation, itching and pain on the skin.
Adverse reactions
In most cases, the patient’s body tolerates Menovazin ointment well. The composition of the drug in rare cases can provoke the development of undesirable reactions:
- Contact dermatitis.
- Allergic skin rashes, which are accompanied by severe redness and itching.
- Significant decrease in blood pressure.
- Asthenia.
- Increased body temperature.
- Dizziness.
- Nausea.

Composition of Menovazin
Menovazine is sold in our pharmacies in two dosage forms: solution or ointment. 70⁰ alcohol is used as an auxiliary agent in the solution, and an ointment base is used in the ointment.
100 ml of alcohol solution contains:
- 2.5 g menthol (racementhol)
- 1.0 g benzocaine (anesthetic)
- 1 g procaine (novocaine)
- and up to 100 ml 70% ethyl alcohol
Menthol, when applied to the skin, causes a feeling of coolness, irritates nerve endings and expands the lumen of capillaries, resulting in a decrease in pain and itching. It enhances the effect of anesthesin and novocaine, and also helps relieve inflammation at the site of application to the skin.
Anesthesin prevents the transmission of pain impulses along nerve fibers, thereby providing a pronounced analgesic effect.
Novocaine also prevents the generation and conduction of pain impulses, but its effect is less pronounced than anesthesin.
The ethyl alcohol included in the solution has disinfectant properties.
In general, menovazin has excellent analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Pharmacology
The entire effect of the drug on the human body is determined by its constituent components. Menthol, upon contact with the skin, immediately causes irritation, which reflexively dilates the blood vessels located close to the surface. It is the strong blood flow that provides the feeling of coolness, which eliminates itching, pain and discomfort.
The Menovazin spray is much more convenient to use in this case, since there is no need to rub the product over the skin with your hands, which will lead to a reaction on the palms.
Benzocaine and novocaine have a moderate analgesic effect in the drug. They have a similar effect on the body and, when used together, simply enhance the analgesic effect. The result is achieved by blocking sodium channels in the skin upon direct contact, which prevents further transmission of nerve impulses to the brain.
Indications for use
Many people wonder what Menovazin helps with and can it be used for constant pain? Initially, the ointment was invented for the purpose of treating diseases accompanied by slight pain and not of an infectious nature. Over time, it became clear that the drug was underestimated and its spectrum of action was much wider.
Benzocaine and procaine pass well through the lymph and blood
Diseases and pathological conditions in which Menovazin is prescribed to relieve pain and swelling:
- Neuritis and neuralgia of non-infectious etiology are indications for the use of Menovazin. In such cases, the drug relieves pain of low and moderate intensity.
- Muscle pain caused by autoimmune processes, injuries and sprains.
- Joint pain of any nature. The drug is used as often as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The effectiveness in some cases is in no way inferior to Diclofenac or Indomethacin.
- Dermatitis with severe itching and burning. The product helps well in the treatment of diseases of this kind and relieves discomfort for a short time.

How to take it correctly?

Menovazin for varicose veins should not be applied to dilated veins, but in places where the intensity of pain is the strongest. You need to smear 3 times a day for two weeks.

Use of the drug during pregnancy
It is not advisable to apply the ointment or solution to damaged skin (injured, affected by burns, dermatitis, eczema, etc.) and skin where there is inflammation in the area to be treated.

The main contraindication to the drug is age under 18 years, however, some doctors claim that Menovazin can be used even in young children, since it does not affect the composition of the blood, having only a local effect.

Side effects
As a rule, the medication is well tolerated by patients if the doctor's prescriptions are followed. In people with increased sensitivity or dry skin, when applying Menovazin, local negative reactions are likely to occur, which are expressed by certain unpleasant symptoms:

The instructions for use of Menovazin indicate that the main active ingredients of the drug are:
- Menthol. Everyone knows about the effect of menthol on the human body. During contact with tissues, it causes inhibition of pain receptors and expansion of capillaries, and as a result of incomplete blocking of the latter, a person feels cool or cold.
- Procaine, or aminobenzoic acid diethylaminoethyl ester hydrochloride. The main anesthetic effect results from blocking sodium channels. Normally, sodium is able to potentiate nerve impulses, thanks to which signals about pain or other changes are sent to the brain.
- Benzocaine. Unlike procaine, it does not block sodium channels, but displaces calcium from the cell surface. Benzocaine reduces the throughput of the cell and thus blocks the further passage of the pain impulse.
Varicose eczema of the lower extremities
The drug is filled with various alcohols and ethers for better penetration into the site of inflammation. It should be noted: all three main substances interact well and do not potentiate or inhibit each other.
The drug Menovazin is produced in solutions and ointments. As already mentioned, to obtain a solution, menthol and procaine with benzocaine are diluted in 70% ethyl alcohol or similar compounds. The basis of menovazin ointment is classic Vaseline, which spreads well and is absorbed into the skin.
Typically the ratio between menthol, procaine and benzocaine is 1.5:1:1.
Menovazin very well helps relieve pain and discomfort from varicose veins of the lower extremities.
