Reviews
Based on patient reviews, the medication is an effective drug that is very popular. Esslidin relieves pain and also improves general condition.
Among the negative aspects, people note the cost of the medicine, as well as the presence of contraindications.
You can also find reviews from pregnant girls on the forums. As a result of taking the drug, in isolated cases, children were born with pathologies. In other cases, with careful medical supervision, pregnancy proceeded without deviations from the norm.
pharmachologic effect
The combined drug has a hepatoprotective effect, normalizes all types of metabolism (fat, protein, carbohydrate).
Methionine, one of the active components of the drug, is an essential amino acid that is a source of mobile methyl groups. Methionine is necessary for the synthesis of choline. An increase in choline content helps to increase the synthesis of endogenous (internal) phospholipids and reduce the deposition of neutral fat in the liver. Methionine is also necessary for the neutralization of xenobiotics. In atherosclerosis, it reduces the concentration of cholesterol and increases the concentration of blood phospholipids.
Essential phospholipids are essential factors for the development and functioning of liver cells. The main fraction of essential phospholipids in the preparation is represented by phosphatidylcholine (73%), which is the main component of biological membranes. Once in the body, phosphatidylcholine restores the integrity of the membranes of affected liver cells and activates phospholipid-dependent enzymes located in the membrane, thereby normalizing permeability and enhancing the detoxification and excretory potential of liver cells.
Methionine and essential phospholipids enhance each other's action, being a source of endogenous and exogenous phospholipids, respectively, improve the functional state of liver cells and have a hepatoprotective effect.
Methionine also participates in the metabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids, in the synthesis of epinephrine, creatinine and other biologically active compounds, transforms the action of hormones, vitamins (B12, ascorbic, folic acids), enzymes, proteins, and participates in remethylation, deamination, and decarboxylation reactions.
Eslidin® restores liver function, increases its detoxification ability, and also normalizes fat, carbohydrate and protein metabolism in the body.

special instructions
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and control potentially dangerous mechanisms
Violation of concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions is possible only in the case of adverse symptoms or drug overdose. If the dosage regimen is followed and contraindications are excluded, Eslidin does not have a negative effect on the nervous system.
Pregnancy and lactation
Eslidin is not suitable for the treatment of liver dysfunction during pregnancy and lactation. The drug can be prescribed only in emergency cases (a medical assessment of the potential benefits to the woman’s body and the risks to the fetus is necessary).
Use in childhood
It is acceptable to prescribe Eslidin to children from three years of age. The instructions contain information about the careful use of the drug for patients from three to seven years of age (medical supervision and a full examination are mandatory conditions).
For impaired renal function
Taking Eslidin can provoke an increase in hyperazotemia. This nuance is the basis for banning the drug in case of renal failure.
For liver dysfunction
Eslidin is prohibited for use in cases of hepatic encephalopathy and liver failure. If hepatitis is present, it is necessary to find out the nature of the disease (viral etiology is the basis for prohibiting the use of the drug).

Contraindications and unwanted effects
Every pharmacological agent has its own downside. In addition to the therapeutic effect, in some cases the drug causes unwanted reactions. They are rare and are caused by individual characteristics of metabolism in the body and individual organs. Eslidin has the advantage of having a very small list of side effects. In some situations, allergic reactions of varying types and severity may occur. The most common reaction is an itchy skin rash (urticaria). This phenomenon does not pose a danger to life and health. Quincke's edema is a more serious situation. Swelling of the tongue, face and neck can cause breathing problems. This reaction requires immediate intervention from a specialist.
Urticaria is a typical allergic skin rash
Eslidin is not prescribed in the following situations:
- severe liver diseases. In this case, there is a significant risk of excessive accumulation of the drug in the body;
- cirrhosis of the liver. This serious disruption of the organ’s functioning is caused by a change in its internal structure. Inflammation causes the growth of scar tissue that compresses the blood vessels. The result is a circulatory disorder of all abdominal organs - stomach, intestines, esophagus, spleen. Eslidin will help stop the growth of scars inside the liver;
- hepatic encephalopathy. Toxins that the liver has lost the ability to remove quickly accumulate in the blood and negatively affect the brain. In severe cases, hepatic coma develops;
- viral hepatitis. In this case, there is a high risk of infection spreading in the liver cells;
- intolerance to phospholipids and methionine;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding. There is no information on the safety of taking the drug for this category of patients;
- Children under three years of age.
Alcohol compatibility
Although there is no evidence that the medication has a direct effect on the central nervous system, it is better to abstain from alcoholic beverages during therapy. In small doses, alcohol cannot do much harm. But if you abuse alcoholic beverages, complications from the liver, kidneys and excretory system may occur. In addition, when taking alcohol together with Eslidin, the effect of the medicine is reduced.
Although there is no evidence that the medication has a direct effect on the central nervous system, it is better to abstain from alcoholic beverages during therapy.
Which is better - Eslidin or Essentiale
If you choose which is better - Eslidin or Essentiale, you should give preference to a drug with a complex effect. Essentiale N contains only one active component - essential phospholipids obtained from soybeans. The drug is available in capsules and solution for intravenous administration.
During pregnancy, it is better to take Essentiale N, since the drug has no toxic effect on the fetus and copes with toxicosis. Doctors prescribe medicine intravenously for hepatic coma and precoma. Eslidin cannot be used in this case.
In the complex treatment of viral hepatitis, severe liver failure and encephalopathy, Essentiale N is prescribed, since these diseases are a contraindication to the use of Eslidin.
The effect of the drug Eslidin on liver function
The liver is the largest gland in the body. It has perhaps the most unique internal structure among all other organs. From the inside it looks like a building intricately designed by a brilliant architect. Nature has provided all the subtleties so that the organ can perform many functions:
- stabilize blood composition;
- help blood clot in case of wounds and injuries;
- neutralize and remove waste products from other cells and tissues from the body;
- store nutrients in case of sudden starvation;
- participate in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and hormones.
The massive organ consists of tiny identical hexagonal structures - lobules. In the center of the lobule there are small hepatic vessels and a bile capillary. The network of these thin passages collects bile formed by the cells of each lobule - hepatocytes. This is where the main metabolic processes take place. The outer shell of hepatocytes plays an important role. It consists of a double layer of phospholipids. Proteins are found in a chaotic manner between the layers.
The outer shell of hepatocytes consists of phospholipids
The phospholipids that make up Eslidin are able to integrate into gaps in the outer shell of hepatocytes. Thanks to this process, normal functioning of the organ is restored. Methionine is an essential amino acid. This chemical is part of many proteins that work inside the liver. The body will have the opportunity to form all the necessary chemical components for itself.
