Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

A drug with an antiulcer effect belongs to the proton pump inhibitors, whose metabolism is carried out in the cells of the stomach to sulfonamide derivatives that inactivate the sulfhydryl groups of enzymes. The action of the medication is to block the last stage of hydrochloric acid production with a decrease in secretion.

The tablets are highly lipophilic, penetrate into the cells of the stomach, and have a cytoprotective effect. The antisecretory effect of the drug occurs an hour after administration and reaches its maximum level after three hours. The duration of the medication is two days. After finishing taking the tablets, acid production returns to normal within 2-3 days. In the first two weeks of therapy with Hayrabezol tablets, the concentration of gastrin in the blood increases, but it returns to its original level 10 days after discontinuation of treatment.

Absorption of the active substance occurs in the small intestine in 3.5 hours, it has 52% bioavailability, and is bound to plasma proteins by 97%. Metabolism of rabeprazole occurs in the liver with the participation of cytochrome isoenzymes; the component is excreted in three hours by the kidneys and intestines in the form of metabolites (a conjugate of mercapturic and carboxylic acids).

  • Does not interact with liquid antacids.
  • Can be combined with Warfarin, Theophylline.
  • For peptic ulcers or gastritis associated with bacterial infection by Helicobacter pylori, seven-day therapy with Khairabezol is combined with Clarithromycin, Amoxicillin or Clarithromycin and Metronidazole.

Compatibility of Khairabezol and alcohol

The entire period of drug therapy must be accompanied by a ban on alcohol intake.
