Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Calcemin Advance contains 2 macroelements (calcium and magnesium), 4 microelements (boron, zinc, copper and manganese) and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol). These nutrients are necessary for the normal functioning of the body and perform the following functions:
- calcium: takes part in the formation of bone tissue, increases its density and reduces resorption; strengthens joints and bone tissue; prevents the development of diseases of the musculoskeletal system;
- magnesium: participates in protein synthesis and the formation of bone and muscle tissue;
- boron: improves calcium absorption; prevents the development of osteoporosis; reduces excess activity of PTH (parathyroid hormone); reduces the risk of developing vitamin D3 deficiency;
- zinc: necessary for the synthesis of female and male sex hormones, which has a beneficial effect on bone tissue and prevents its destruction and loss of density;
- copper: takes part in the synthesis of elastin and collagen, which are part of connective and bone tissue, which, in turn, affects the formation of bone mass;
- manganese: necessary for the synthesis of proteoglycans, which improve the quality of bone tissue and participate in the formation of the collagen matrix of bone tissue;
- vitamin D3: the main element regulating the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium; enhances intestinal absorption of calcium and renal reabsorption of phosphorus; necessary for maintaining bone structure and skeletal formation.
Thanks to the special form of calcium in the preparation (calcium citrate), the best absorption of this macronutrient is ensured, regardless of the state of the gastrointestinal tract. That is why Calcemin Advance can be used in patients with reduced secretory function of the digestive tract, as well as simultaneously with other drugs that reduce secretion. In addition, calcium citrate does not increase the calcium and oxalate levels in the urine, and therefore does not lead to the formation of kidney stones. This form of calcium does not interfere with the absorption of iron, thereby reducing the risk of iron deficiency anemia.
Pharmacokinetics
Information on the pharmacokinetic parameters of Calcemin Advance is not provided.
Reviews about Kalcemin Advance
Numerous reviews indicate the widespread use of the drug for beauty. Girls and women believe that thanks to the product, nails, teeth and hair are well strengthened. There is extensive experience in use for osteoporosis and fractures.
The disadvantage is the large size of the tablet, which makes swallowing difficult, and the presence of various dyes and excipients.
There are reviews from dentists who widely prescribe the medicine to strengthen teeth, and traumatologists also use it to accelerate the healing of bones in fractures .
Overdose
Taking high doses of Calcemin Advance and/or long-term treatment can lead to overdose, manifested by hypervitaminosis of vitamin D3, hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia. The main symptoms of overdose: thirst, decreased appetite, dizziness, nausea, headache, vomiting, fainting, muscle weakness, abdominal pain, constipation, urolithiasis, bone pain, nephrocalcinosis, polyuria, mental disorders, fatigue, coma; in severe cases - arrhythmias. Long-term intake of calcium in a daily dose of more than 2500 mg can lead to soft tissue calcification and kidney damage.
At the first signs of an overdose, you should reduce the dose of the drug or stop it completely, and then consult a doctor. It is possible to carry out symptomatic therapy and standard measures to prevent intoxication (gastric lavage, inducing vomiting).
Patients with hypercalciuria (more than 300 mg per day) are prescribed loop diuretics, calcitonin, glucocorticosteroids, bisphosphonates, rehydration, and in severe cases, hemodialysis.
