Pharmacological properties

The action of the dietary supplement is determined by the properties of the active components included in its composition. Compatibility of ingredients is ensured by special production technology. Complivit Selenium is distinguished by the content of the daily physiological dose of selenium.

Properties of the components in Complivita Selenium:

  • vitamin C (ascorbic acid): reduces vascular permeability, increases the body's resistance to infections, takes part in the regulation of carbohydrate metabolism, redox processes, blood clotting, tissue regeneration; has antiplatelet and pronounced antioxidant effects;
  • vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride): takes part in metabolic processes; required to ensure the normal functioning of the nervous system;
  • vitamin A (retinol acetate): ensures the integrity of epithelial tissues, is required for the formation of visual pigments, vision (color and twilight), bone growth, normal reproductive function;
  • vitamin B1 (thiamine hydrochloride): required for metabolic processes (carbohydrate, protein and fat), conducting nervous excitation in synapses; has a protective effect on cell membranes from the negative effects of peroxidation products;
  • vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin): takes part in the synthesis of nucleotides, is required for the metabolism of the synthesis of myelin and folic acid, is one of the important factors in normal growth, hematopoiesis and development of epithelial cells;
  • vitamin E (a-tocopherol acetate): together with selenium, helps inhibit the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, maintain the stability of erythrocytes, and prevent hemolysis; has a positive effect on the functions of the gonads, muscle and nervous tissue, has antioxidant properties;
  • vitamin B2 (riboflavin): is one of the most important catalysts for cellular respiration processes, required for metabolic processes (carbohydrate, protein and fat), hemoglobin synthesis, and maintaining normal visual function;
  • folic acid: participates in the synthesis of amino acids, nucleic acids, nucleotides, required for normal erythropoiesis;
  • calcium pantothenate: takes part in the processes of oxidation and acetylation, promotes the construction and regeneration of endothelium and epithelium;
  • nicotinamide: required for the processes of tissue respiration, carbohydrate and fat metabolism;
  • selenium: having a pronounced antioxidant effect, helps neutralize free radicals that destroy cell membranes, protects the human body from cadmium, lead, thallium, mercury and other heavy metals; reduces the likelihood of cancer and cardiovascular diseases;
  • manganese: has a beneficial effect on connective tissue, required for normal collagen production;
  • copper: helps prevent osteoporosis, is necessary for antioxidant protection of cells, participates in the process of collagen synthesis, prevents the occurrence of anemia and oxygen starvation of organs and tissues; strengthens vascular walls;
  • zinc: promotes the absorption of vitamin A, hair growth and regeneration, and has an immunomodulatory effect.

Main indications:

  • Diseases of the cardiovascular system: arrhythmia; hypertensive abnormalities; IHD; restoration of heart muscles after myocardial infarction;
  • Manifestations of atherosclerosis: normalization of cholesterol levels; improving the elastic qualities of blood vessels;
  • Prevention of cancer; restoration of the body after radioactive or chemical therapy;
  • Liver diseases: hepatitis and cholecystitis; preventing the accumulation of heavy metals in the hepatic pelvis;
  • After suffering fractures or surgical interventions; joint diseases; osteochondrosis;
  • Gastrointestinal diseases: colitis; pancreatitis; gastritis;
  • Bronchial asthma and allergies;
  • Male infertility (oligospermia); menopause in women;
  • Heavily polluted habitats, where there are increased emissions into the atmosphere or background radiation with increased levels;
  • Constant overwork, regular lack of sleep and chronic fatigue;
  • People who smoke more than two packs of cigarettes a day to neutralize tobacco tar in the lungs and stomach;
  • Chronic diseases in acute and ordinary forms;
  • Restoration, enhancement and activation of the body’s immune forces;

The dietary supplement is effective when the body needs to quickly recover after complex operations, illnesses, or during influenza pandemics. Everyone knows that there is no universal cure for influenza strains, so it is better to prepare the body with vitamins than to then be treated with heavy antibiotics.

Most often, the complex is prescribed when the body is weakened and the immune system needs to be supported. This is not a drug, but only an additional source of essential vitamins, acids and microelements.

The dietary supplement has proven itself well during perimenopause (age-related hormonal changes) in women over 45 years of age. The vitamin complex more than compensates for the lack of vital daily elements in the human body.

As for contraindications, it is not prescribed to people with allergic reactions or individual intolerance to at least one component. It is better for women not to take the supplement during pregnancy and lactation. The mother's body is stronger and can absorb the components well. The child may experience allergic reactions.

The drug is not prescribed to children at all, except perhaps from the age of 14, and then under the supervision of the attending physician. The child’s body is not able to properly absorb the components of the drug, which will lead to malfunctions of all systems.

Side effects may include skin rashes or gastrointestinal discomfort. Itching and redness indicate an allergy, in this case the doctor prescribes antihistamines, and then the drug can be taken further. Sometimes the doctor stops taking it and may prescribe a similar complex only with a reduced concentration of components.

During an overdose, intoxication of the entire body and hypervitaminosis are observed. In such cases, urgent gastric lavage is done and sorbent drugs are taken. Then the doctor examines the clinical picture of the patient and prescribes the main treatment. Instability of the mental state, nausea with vomiting, loss and brittleness of nails, functional disorders in the liver, skin erythema and pneumonia in the bronchi may be observed.

The tablets are convex-shaped pills, colored bluish or blue. For 100% absorption, the drug is taken with food, without chewing, but with a small amount of clean water. The tablets do not emit any foreign odors; they have the characteristic aroma of selenium. Pills are produced weighing 210 g each.

The packaging is a polymer jar containing 30, 60 or 90 tablets. There may also be cardboard packaging with contour plates. Each stencil plate contains 10 tablets. There can be from 3 pieces per package or more.

It is not a drug with a therapeutic effect. Store in a dry room at temperatures no higher than +25 C, do not allow direct sunlight. The drug is available in pharmacy chains or specialized departments. Shelf life: 2 years, not recommended for use after the intended date.

Daily value of selenium for men

It has been established that the average daily requirement for an adult representative of the stronger sex is 70-110 mcg of selenium. This is a relative indicator calculated for a healthy person.

It should be borne in mind that the microelement is excreted from the man’s body along with sperm. Therefore, those who have an active sex life (or even just masturbate regularly) must replenish their levels of the chemical compound. The same should be done during intense physical activity, for example, during intense sports training (mostly strength training).

According to medical statistics, deficiency is observed in the body of almost 70% of men. After laboratory examinations, if the patient has sexual dysfunction, the daily norm of the element increases to 150-200 mcg. The same “dosage” is recommended for people who are regularly exposed to industrial toxic substances, who consume alcohol, a lot of meat and fatty foods.

To avoid problems with excess, you need to learn the main rule - the doctor should prescribe medications containing microelements and determine their dosage.

Overdose

A one-time intake of large doses requires urgent detoxification measures: the prescription of enterosorbing drugs ( Polysorb, Smecta, Activated Carbon ), gastric lavage, and syndromic therapy depending on the clinical picture of poisoning. With long-term treatment, signs of hypervitaminosis .

Harm

For a long time, selenium was considered a dangerous substance. And not in vain. The non-metal is indeed toxic. An excess of it will be harmful and will affect your health even more sadly than a deficiency. The symptoms are:

  • decreased immunity;
  • impaired renal and liver function;
  • mental instability;
  • muscle pain;
  • hair loss;
  • arthritis;
  • deterioration of teeth and nails;
  • the appearance of skin diseases;
  • decreased sexual activity.

Reviews

Elena My therapist advised me to try taking the Complivit Selenium complex. She looked at my tests and said that my immunity was greatly weakened. He needs help, so I prescribed this drug. I was tormented by constant fatigue and dizziness. Literally a week later I felt much better. In the evening I quickly fell asleep, and in the morning I always woke up invigorated. I noticed that my hair began to shine. Vadim lost a lot of blood during a car accident. After the main therapy, the attending physician prescribed a dietary supplement. I was immediately suspicious; I don’t really trust such drugs. The only thing that convinced me: a domestically produced additive. I took one course and was very pleased. Firstly, strength and vigor appeared. Secondly, the top covers acquired the long-awaited pink color. And thirdly, the blood test showed excellent results.
