Panavir spray, gel: instructions, use and reviews.

Forms of release and composition of Panavir for external use

In the treatment of dermato-venereological diseases and pathologies of mucous areas, Panavir is used in the form of an ointment or spray:

  • White ointment (cream) in tubes of 3, 5, 10 and 30 g. The active substance is a polysaccharide extract of tuberous nightshade shoots. Used to treat viral infections on the surface of the skin.
  • Gel spray Inlight. Available in 40 ml bottles and intended for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the oral mucosa and larynx. In addition to the main active substance, the preparation contains eucalyptus and castor oils.
  • Gel spray Intim. Each bottle contains 40 mg of regular Panavir with a minimum amount of excipients. Used to treat intimate areas.

Nightshade extract contains glucose, xylose, rhamnose, galactose, mannose and uronic acids. The main excipients in all forms of Panavir for external use are water, nightshade extract, lanthanum nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The sprays also contain polyethylene glycol, and the ointments contain glycerol, macrogol and ethanol.

Contraindications

The use of Panavir in ampoules or other forms can be unsafe and can provoke negative consequences. It is not recommended to use the medication in the following cases:

Children under 12 years of age should not be treated with this drug.

  • severe forms of renal disorders and spleen dysfunction;
  • carrying a baby and breastfeeding;
  • intolerance to substances contained in the drug;
  • allergic reaction;
  • age up to 12 children.

Is it possible for pregnant women?

Although the composition of the drug "Panavir" against herpes does not include toxic and carcinogenic substances, it is still used with caution during pregnancy. The safest are local remedies that are allowed throughout the entire period of pregnancy. In this case, it is necessary for the doctor to regularly monitor the condition of the expectant mother and fetus. Panavir injections are not allowed at any stage of pregnancy.

Indications for external use of Panavir and contraindications

Panavir ointment or gel spray is prescribed for the following diseases:

  • herpes on the lip or genital;
  • shingles;
  • active papillomavirus (warts, papillomas or condylomas).

Spray gel can also be prescribed with complex therapy for ARVI, influenza, cytomegalovirus infection or as a prophylactic against these infections. The intimate version of Panavir is used to treat the external genitalia and vagina after unprotected sexual intercourse to prevent the virus from entering cells. Inlight spray is used if you are predisposed to seasonal viral diseases.

Important! Panavir ointment and gel spray are not used in ophthalmology. You cannot treat stye or ocular herpes with these drugs. For this purpose, other forms of medication are prescribed - injection solutions or tablets.

Panavir cream or gel penetrates minimally into the body, therefore it is contraindicated only for persons with individual intolerance. Children, pregnant and lactating women can use the drug in these forms.

Cases of overdose

To avoid an overdose of the drug, you need to use it according to medical prescriptions.
Thanks to its components, the medicine in any form of release does not have a toxic effect on the body, as a result of which an overdose is unlikely. Doctors have not observed any cases of excessive use of Panavir. But you should adhere to the dosage prescribed by your doctor and take precautions when taking it.

Effect of the drug

Virostatic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and tissue regeneration-accelerating properties of Panavir allow the drug to have the following effects:

  • stop the virus from entering the body at the cellular level
  • suppress viral activity by blocking harmful proteins and preventing their reproduction;
  • stimulate local immunity;
  • relieve itching and pain in the inflamed area;
  • accelerate the healing of skin and mucous membranes at the epithelial level.

Panavir for external use is non-toxic, does not contain hormones, does not cause cell growth (neoplastic growth) or mutations and does not affect reproductive function. The drug is pH-neutral and does not cause allergic reactions unless the patient has contraindications to individual components.

Are there any possible side effects?

The Register of Medicines (RLS) indicates that the drug Panavir is well tolerated by the patient and rarely leads to a negative reaction. In rare cases, the following phenomena are observed:

  • allergies due to intolerance to components;
  • itching;
  • burning sensations;
  • redness of the mucous membranes and skin in the area where the medication is applied.

If adverse reactions occur, stop taking Panavir and consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Use of Panavir ointment

The sooner you start using Panavir, the faster the treatment will end. When starting therapy for a herpes infection at the first stage (symptoms: itching, redness, skin tightness), blisters either will not appear at all, or their number will be minimal. When using the ointment, you should follow the following recommendations:

  1. The ointment is applied directly over the virus-affected areas of the skin or mucous membranes of the nose, mouth, and genitals.
  2. The application layer should be thin, frequency – 2-5 times a day.
  3. The standard course of treatment is 3-5 days, if necessary, therapy is extended twice until the symptoms of the disease disappear.

Panavir cream quickly stops viral activity, eliminates small papillomas, fights viral rashes (like chickenpox) and accelerates the healing of damaged tissue. Its use also overcomes itching and other unpleasant sensations during illness.

The danger of papillomaviruses

Scientists know more than 600 types of papillomaviruses. Most of them are harmless. Some cause the appearance of warts, condylomas and papillomas. Many people perceive these growths only as a cosmetic defect. Indeed, in most cases these growths are harmless. They often disappear on their own, without any treatment .

Plantar warts most often cause discomfort. People call them thorns. These growths have a root that extends deep into the epidermis. The spine can cause severe pain when walking and even cause loss of performance.

Several strains of papillomavirus have oncogenic properties. They can cause the transformation of a small condyloma into a malignant tumor. To avoid this, it is necessary to get rid of the emerging tumors.

Treatment of herpes with Panavir

No medicine can completely cure herpes, but it is possible to make the infection recede and “fall asleep” for a long time. Panavir easily puts the disease into remission.

You just need to follow a few medical recommendations:

  1. When symptoms of herpes or the first blisters appear on the skin, you should immediately lubricate the area with Panavir ointment or gel. After 4 hours, repeat, and so on 5 times a day with a break at night. The disease goes away within 3-5 days.
  2. If herpes occurs on the mucous membrane of the mouth or nose, you should spray the affected area with Panavir spray a couple of times. Then continue treatment according to the same regimen as when using the ointment.
  3. Rectal or genital herpes is treated with suppositories or an intimate gel spray. It is recommended to lubricate the external genitalia with ointment, and spray it into the vagina with a spray with a long nozzle.

In case of extensive herpetic infection (regardless of its location) and excessive duration of the disease, you should change the form of Panavir taken to tablets, which must be taken according to the instructions indicated. It is possible to switch to another drug.

Attention! a prolonged absence of positive results from therapy or too much spread of herpes is a signal that you need to visit a doctor.

There are many excellent remedies for herpes or “colds”, just different from each other. And, often, making a choice is really difficult. This choice is complicated by the fact that many of these drugs are of a chemical nature and have restrictions on use (for example, the drug cannot be applied to the mucous membrane) or the resistance of the virus to one or another active substance has been noted.

So what should you do? Consult a specialist to recommend an effective, safe and easy-to-use drug, such as Panavir®.

Domestic medicine has tested the excellent antiviral drug Panavir®. Every pharmacy has this small tube of gel that anyone can purchase without a prescription.

Panavir® is a herbal antiviral drug, which also has immunomodulatory properties. This is especially important in the treatment of herpes, since this virus is activated when one’s own immunity is weakened.

Approximately every fifth Russian is familiar with this problem - how sometimes painful and long it takes to mask this scourge - herpes, and an experienced person always has the conditions for what the optimal remedy should be.

  • It stops the virus at an early stage and prevents it from appearing on the skin and mucous membranes of the lips or nose.
  • Even if a crust has formed, the transparent Panavir® gel will painlessly begin its therapeutic effect, relieving inflammation, itching and speed up healing, within about a day.
  • Panavir® is odorless and does not leave marks at the site of application, the rapid antiherpetic effect will speed up your recovery and you will continue to enjoy life!
  • The Panavir® gel is based on a unique component, the rare earth element latan, which will contain the “cold” that is prone to spreading and will not allow a new microbial infection to join. The same barrier mechanism of lanthanum will prevent infection of your loved ones through direct contact.

Good night, my 8-year-old child has the last stage of herpes, his tonsils become inflamed every day, and every day he has white curd coatings on his tonsils from all the specialists we could, we took all the prescribed medications, we also drank them, and we didn’t get any results from the treatment.

Korobkova Elena Vladimirovna Obstetrician-gynecologist answers: Good afternoon. We recommend Panavir Inlight spray for your child. Use during an exacerbation 4-5 times a day, during remission 2 times, for prevention. Thank you.

Oleg asks:2019-06-26 09:59:13

Thanks for the answer! I didn’t have chickenpox. Another question, please answer: Is such a symptom characteristic of herpes when, before the rash, 2-3 days before, a burning sensation begins in different parts of the body, legs, arms, sometimes the scalp on one side or the other, and it all ends with rashes on the same place, i.e. on the foreskin. Can herpes spread throughout the entire nervous system? When 15 years ago my vision began to decline, the ophthalmologist noticed something wrong with the optic nerve and then said the following words: “It feels like some kind of virus has spread through the optic nerve.” Can it suggest a disseminated, to some extent, form of herpes. And does this form of additional treatment require?

Korobkova Elena Vladimirovna Obstetrician-gynecologist answers: Good afternoon. Indeed, a disseminated form of herpetic infection with a subclinical course is possible, you can also try getting tested for herpes zoster antibodies - herpes zoster. Thank you.

Oleg asks:2019-06-24 21:34:12

Good afternoon! Genital herpes from the age of 25. Now 45. There were exacerbations and rashes on the genitals up to 5-7 times a year. There were also goose bumps and a burning sensation in the buttocks, the outer side of the thigh to the knee. HAVE NOT BEEN TREATED WITH ANYTHING, BECAUSE FOR SOMEHOW, THEY WERE NOT FOUND IN THE BLOOD AND FOR THE RASHES, THEY WERE NOT PRESCRIBED WITH ANYTHING BUT OINTMENTS. That’s how I adapted, got used to it or something, but I could live. WHAT NOW: I also had hepatitis C from my youth. I was treated with a new drug 2 years ago. There is no hepatitis, but there are no more damnable HERPES rashes either (it was easier with them, that is, after their manifestations, a period of remission began). But a strong and almost permanent exacerbation began along the sciatic nerve, the left side hurts, the kidney is pulled. Once during these 2 years, small rashes appeared and quickly went away on their own without ointments, lotions, etc., it immediately became easier in terms of neuralgia and pain in the side. But after a short time. Time again everything hurts, goes numb, burns. That is, there is a clear exacerbation and there is no remission. What to do, how to treat?

Korobkova Elena Vladimirovna Obstetrician-gynecologist answers: Good afternoon. With frequent recurrences, herpes infection not only depletes the immune system, but can also cause diseases of the nervous system. If clinically the rash corresponds to herpetic, then there may have been errors in the study. Considering the symptoms you described, it is currently necessary to carry out therapy aimed at suppressing viral activity and, necessarily, immunocorrection. For this pathology, the drugs Valacyclovir 500 mg per day for 6 months to 1 year and the drug Panavir, the action of which is aimed both at the virus itself and at correcting the immune system, have proven themselves, the drug also protects healthy epithelial cells from viral damage, it is necessary to use systemic forms - ampoules No. 5 intravenous administration according to the scheme or rectal suppositories No. 10, 1 per day. Thank you. Have you had chickenpox or been in contact with someone who has chickenpox in the last 2 years?

Good afternoon! I'm worried about herpes on my lip, Panavir gel doesn't help much. There is swelling and ulcers. Herpes pops up often, sometimes even if you spend a long time in the sun. The doctor (not an infectious disease specialist) advised me to understand Panavir rectal suppositories. Will this treatment be of any use or just injections (I'm afraid of injections)?

Bagaeva Madina answers: Why, rectal suppositories will be an equivalent replacement. But then the course is not No. 5 as with ampoules, but No. 10.

Olga asks:2017-01-31 08:30:14

Hello, at what age can Panavir be used and is the drug available in tablets?

Bagaeva Madina answers: Hello! Systemic forms from the age of 12, local forms are possible from a very early age, since they do not have a systemic effect on the body. No, there is no tablet form.

Recommendations for using Panavir spray

  1. Before using any form of Panavir spray, the bottle must be shaken.
  2. The bottle is directed to the affected area of the mucous membrane and the nozzle is pressed 2-3 times.
  3. For intravaginal administration of Panavir, you must use a special 7-cm nozzle while lying on your back.
  4. As a prevention of influenza or sexually transmitted viral pathologies, the drug is used twice a day in the nasal and oral cavities or applied to the genitals before sexual intercourse.
  5. If a lot of time has passed since the previous treatment course, the spray head may dry out. You can return it to its normal state by holding the bottle without a cap in warm water, then shaking it off and pressing the head several times.

Attention! The use of Panavir in the form of a gel or spray is not recommended in combination with alcohol. The drug stimulates the immune system, while alcoholic drinks suppress it. The combination of these substances will not cause any dangerous complications, but will slow down treatment or make it ineffective.

Patient reviews

Many patients share their impressions of the treatment of papillomas and condylomas with Panavir gel. Reviews are mostly positive. But there are also negative responses. They are most often left by people who want to completely eliminate the papilloma virus in tests, and not just get rid of skin growths.

From time to time a papilloma appeared on the stomach. I consulted a doctor several times and had it removed using a laser and liquid nitrogen. But after a few months or even weeks, the disgusting growth grew again. Tired of paying money for useless and painful procedures. On the advice of a friend, I bought Panavir gel and started lubricating the affected area five times a day. There was no trace of papilloma after three weeks of treatment. Six months have passed since then, and the skin is still clear, and there are no relapses.

Veronica. Sevastopol

My acquaintance with Panavir gel began with the removal of a growth from the upper lip. My friend is a dermatologist. She advised me to buy Panavir. At first I doubted, I just wanted to remove the tumor using a laser or electrocoagulation. But then I decided that I would not risk it, since the skin of the lips is very delicate and a scar may remain on it. I lubricated my papilloma with gel for exactly two weeks. At first it darkened, and then began to dry out. On the ninth day I woke up and discovered that the growth had simply disappeared. But just in case, I used the gel for a few more days.

Olga. Babaevo

Last year I had the flu on my legs.
After this, papillomas and condylomas grew on the neck, shoulders, abdomen and face. In addition, a plantar wart appeared and began to grow rapidly. It is too expensive to remove one growth at a time with a laser. Therefore, I used folk remedies, smeared the tumors with garlic and celandine juice. This didn't help, it only caused irritation. I had to go to the doctor. The doctor turned out to be very competent. He prescribed me Panavir injections. My neighbor injected them, she is a nurse. I additionally smeared the spine with Panavir gel. After a month, the skin on my body completely cleared up. Elena. Tambov
