Theraflu is intended to relieve symptoms of infectious and inflammatory diseases: acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, which are accompanied by a significant increase in body temperature, the development of chills, aching joints, runny nose, headache and muscle pain.

The drug is intended for oral administration; the contents of the sachet are first diluted with hot water. To improve the taste, you can add a small amount of sugar.

The drug can be used three times a day. It is best to use the medicine before bedtime.

If no positive effect is observed after 72 hours, you should re-consult your doctor and reconsider your treatment regimen.

Contraindications and side effects

It is recommended to refrain from taking the drug if:

• Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
• Portal hypertension.
• Alcoholism.
• Simultaneous use with tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, beta-blockers.
• Treatment of patients under 12 years of age, pregnant and lactating women.

Particular care is required in the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus, benign hyperbilirubinemia, liver and kidney dysfunction.

Contraindications and possible adverse reactions for the drugs are the same. The manufacturer of Fervex indicates that the powder should not be used during the first and third trimester of pregnancy.

The possibility of taking it in the second trimester should be checked with a doctor; consultation is also necessary when used simultaneously with glucocorticosteroids, due to the risk of developing glaucoma.

For patients with diabetes, there is a sugar-free version of Fervex.

When combined with antipsychotic drugs, urine retention, dry mouth, and difficulty defecating (constipation) may occur. The powder enhances the effect of medications with sedative properties.

Coldrex or Theraflu

Coldrex is an English-made analogue, similar to Theraflu in composition and combining the properties of an analgesic,

and alpha adrenergic agonists.

The quantitative content of vitamin C and paracetamol (750 mg) in Coldrex is higher (and in Coldrex Max Gripp - 1000 mg), which makes it more effective at high temperatures, but it does not contain pheniramine (an anti-allergic substance).

The drug is also presented in the form of tablets for internal use.

For patients over 12 years of age, the following dosage regimen is recommended:

• The powder is dissolved in warm water and used between main meals.
• The maximum number of sachets is 4 per day.
• Undesirable reactions are possible in the form of increased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbances, allergies, and increased heart rate.
• If the recommended dosage is not followed, arrhythmia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain may develop, the skin becomes pale, and sweating increases. It is necessary to seek symptomatic treatment as soon as possible to prevent the risk of negative effects on the liver.

If you combine Coldrex with drinks that contain caffeine, the likelihood of developing nervous irritability and stress increases. Combination with alcohol leads to the threat of toxic liver damage.

The drug enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants; when combined with metoclopramide and domperidone, an increase in the rate of absorption of the active components of the powder can be observed.

What is better - Theraflu or Antigrippin?

Antigrippin, like Theraflu, effectively combats nasal congestion, fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscles and joints.

The drug is effective for rhinitis of various origins: viral, bacterial, allergic.

The active components of the drug are quickly absorbed and evenly distributed in the tissues of the body. Antigrippin begins to act after 10-60 minutes, the half-life takes up to 3 hours.

The drug is presented in the form of powder and effervescent tablets, soluble in water. Admission is allowed for patients from 15 years of age, while the use of Theraflu is indicated already from 12.

The composition of the drugs is slightly different: Antigrippin, in addition to paracetamol and vitamin C, contains chlorphenamine maleate, a substance with antiallergic properties.

An advantage of Antigrippin may be a more convenient dosage form. The tablet can be dissolved in warm water; the drink does not have to be hot.

The drug is cheaper, and the duration of treatment is no more than 5 days. The absence of a positive effect within 72 hours is an indication for repeated consultation with a doctor.

When choosing a suitable drug, you should pay attention to possible age restrictions and differences in the composition of drugs (to avoid allergies to the active ingredients).

Neither Theraflu nor Antigrippin affect the underlying factors that cause colds, but are only means of symptomatic treatment.

• Rimantadine is an antiviral component that affects not only the symptoms that arise, but also the causes of the development of the pathological process. It is important to remember that rimantadine is active against influenza A.
• Calcium gluconate monohydrate, which normalizes the nutrition of muscle tissue, reducing membrane permeability, has an antiallergic effect.
• A routine that strengthens the walls of blood vessels.

Anvimax will be better than Tamiflu if the disease is caused by the influenza A virus.

Among its advantages it is worth highlighting:

• Providing an etiotropic effect, influencing the underlying factors that cause unpleasant symptoms.
• More budget price (Russian manufacturer).
• Possibility to choose other dosage forms, if necessary (capsules for oral administration).

Disadvantages of Anvimax:

• A more extensive list of contraindications: stomach ulcers, excess vitamin K in the body, detection of hemophilia, portal hypertension, gastrointestinal bleeding, hemorrhagic diathesis, hypoprothrombinemia, thyroid diseases, sarcoidosis, nephrourolithiasis.
• Can be used from 18 years of age.
• Rimantadine is an old generation antiviral substance. May have no effect on other types of influenza virus, such as type B, although Tamiflu does not initially have an antiviral effect.

It is not advisable to use both medications as the only treatment.

Rinza or Theraflu

Rinza is a cheap analogue of Theraflu (159 rubles for 5 sachets) for the symptomatic treatment of influenza, ARVI, and colds. The activity of the powder is due to its multicomponent composition: the manufacturer uses paracetamol in combination with pheniramine and phenylephrine.

Unlike Theraflu, Rinza additionally contains caffeine instead of ascorbic acid. It has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, helps combat increased fatigue and drowsiness, and improves mental and physical performance.

The list of contraindications is similar: Rinza should not be used by pregnant and lactating women, simultaneously with MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, beta blockers.

At the same time, Rinza can be used from the age of 15, while Theraflu is allowed from the age of 12.

Particular caution should be exercised in patients with a history of arterial hypertension, angle-closure glaucoma, atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries, bronchial asthma, thyrotoxicosis, diabetes mellitus, obstructive pulmonary disease, prostatic hyperplasia, renal, liver failure.

The maximum daily dose of Rinza powder is no more than 4 sachets, and the duration of treatment is no longer than 5 days.

The drug must be used 60-120 minutes after the main meal and should not be combined with medications that include paracetamol, sleeping pills, anxiolytics, or alcoholic beverages.

Maxicold or Theraflu

Both drugs are presented in powder form for the preparation of a solution for internal use.

Maxicold contains the same active ingredients, with the exception of fenlephrine, therefore it is an inexpensive analogue of Theraflu.

The drug normalizes body temperature, has an analgesic effect, and facilitates nasal breathing. Thanks to vitamin C, the lack of ascorbic acid during colds is compensated.

Like Theraflu, Maxicold is indicated for patients over 12 years of age. Adults can take the powder up to 4 times a day, children over 12 can take a maximum of 3 sachets.

In order to provide an analgesic effect, the drug can be taken for no longer than 5 days and no more than 72 hours to reduce body temperature. If symptoms persist, you should consult your doctor.

Maxold cannot be combined with alcoholic drinks; taking it together can lead to acute pancreatitis. Simultaneous use with drugs from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and salicylates increases the toxic effect on the liver. Contraindications and possible adverse reactions for the drugs are similar.

Contraindications

In some cases, the use of the medicine in question is not allowed. Rinza should not be taken by those who suffer from the following health conditions:

• if the patient has atherosclerosis, which is severe;
• when the blood pressure is high (arterial hypertension);
• in the presence of diabetes mellitus;
• cannot be used in cases where antidepressants have been used;
• there is no compatibility with drugs with the same main active ingredients;
• It is prohibited to drink alcohol at the same time;
• not allowed to be used by persons suffering from alcoholism;
• Rinza should not be used while pregnant or during lactation.

In these cases, the use of drugs will lead to serious consequences. For treatment, it is necessary to use other medications that are more suitable for a patient with flu or a cold.
