Uralit contains salts of strong bases, which, in combination with weak acids, neutralize the increased acidity of urine, which leads to the metabolism of acid components. Excess bases obtained from alkali ions are excreted by the kidneys, making the urine pH more alkaline. Citrate is excreted, which prevents the formation of kidney stones.
Neutralization or alkalization can be achieved by oral administration of alkaline nitrates. X-ray confirmed the dissolution of uric acid stones. Serum bicarbonate level is a regulator of citrate excretion. A negatively charged excess base leads to alkalosis by changing intracellular acidity. This reduces absorption and increases excretion of calcium.
These two mechanisms of Uralit’s work reduce the activity of calcium oxalates, because citrate in a slightly alkaline environment forms stable complexes with calcium, counteracting excessive saturation with lithogenic components of urine. Citrate ions best physiologically suppress the crystallization of calcium oxalates and phosphates and their aggregation.
The therapeutic effect of the drug is achieved in cystinuria and the formation of cytine stones (the solubility of cystine increases), treatment with cytostatics (the elimination of uric acid increases), and the prevention of the formation of uric acid stones. Uralite improves the protective effect due to increased solubility of cytostatics, methotrexate. The drug is used for late porphyria, eliminates decarboxylase deficiency, promotes the conversion of uroporphyrinogen into coproporphyrinogen.
This leads to a decrease in the circulation of uroporphyrin and an increase in the synthesis of uroporphyrinogen. Citrates are completely metabolized, only 2% of the dose is found unchanged in the urine. The daily excretion of calcium and sodium does not differ from the standard daily excretion. The product in question is a mixture of strong alkalis (salts) that are combined with acids (weaker).
When mixed with ordinary water, the granulate dissociates into ions, maintains the alkaline reaction of urine for a long time, and also regulates the pH (at the level of 6.2-7.5).
This acidity allows uric acid salts to remain dissolved and not form stones. This is where the nephrolytic properties of this remedy manifest themselves.
Directions for use and dosage
The solution prepared according to the instructions is taken orally after meals. One measuring spoon with granules is dissolved in 250 ml of water. The prepared liquid has a specific odor and a transparent, light orange structure. The dosage of Uralit is determined by the color of the indicator strip, since it is determined by the acidity of fresh urine.
For convenience, the strip is secured with the included clips, and then urine is added to it. The resulting color is compared with the attached color chart. Use of the drug Uralit-u
Uralit-U is taken orally. Before use, the granules are dissolved in a glass of water. The dose of the drug is selected individually based on determination of urine pH values. 1. To dissolve and prevent recurrence of uric acid stones, prescribe 4 scoops (10 g of granules, equivalent to 88 mmol of alkali) per day, divided into 3 doses: 1 scoop in the morning, 1 scoop at noon and 2 scoops - In the evening. The drug is taken after meals. The pH of fresh urine should be 6.2–6.8. If the pH value is below the recommended range, the daily dose is increased by 0.5 scoop (11 mmol of alkali) in the evening.
