Suppositories "Vitaprost" and "Vitaprost Plus" are a comprehensive remedy for the treatment of prostate pathologies, in particular adenoma and prostatitis. They are very popular due to their high performance and speed. This is achieved due to the peculiarities of the composition of the drug.

Before using rectal suppositories, be sure to read the instructions for use and also consult with your doctor.

Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of rectal suppositories: torpedo-shaped, white, almost white or light cream in color with a grayish tint; the presence of a white coating is allowed (5 pieces each in blister packs made of polyvinyl chloride film laminated with polyethylene; in a cardboard pack there are 1 or 2 blister packs and instructions for use of Vitaprost Plus).

Composition for 1 suppository:

  • active ingredients: lomefloxacin hydrochloride – 400 mg; prostate extract – 100 mg (or 20 mg – in terms of water-soluble peptides);
  • auxiliary components: Supposir solid fat (NA 15 grade and NAS 50 grade), Witepsol solid fat (N 15 grade and W 5 grade).

Interaction with other drugs

The simultaneous use of suppositories and oral anticoagulants provokes an increase in the activity of the drug and can lead to intoxication. The absorption of active components is reduced when used simultaneously with calcium channel blockers. It is allowed to be used simultaneously with medications such as:

  • "Cephalosporin";
  • "Metronidazole";
  • "Penicillin";
  • "Aminoglycoside".

If the drug is used as part of complex therapy, then it is imperative to carefully study the composition of each drug to avoid overdose.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Vitaprost Plus is a combination product, due to the properties of the active components it exhibits anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity.

Lomefloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolones and has a wide spectrum of bactericidal action. It affects DNA gyrase, a bacterial enzyme that ensures supercoiling. Lomefloxacin forms a complex with the tetramer of DNA gyrase (A2B2 gyrase subunit), thereby disrupting transcription and DNA replication and leading to the death of the microbial cell.

Lomefloxacin is especially active against gram-negative aerobic bacteria: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella spp., Moraxella morganii, Legionella pneumophila, Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Haemophilus influenzae e parainfluenzae, Citrobacter diversus, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloac ae, Shigella spp. .

The following are moderately sensitive to the drug: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus stuartii, Staphylococcus aureus, Chlamydia trachomatis, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Aeromonas hydrophila, Enterobacter agglomerans, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella ozaenae, Klebsiella oxytoca, Serratia marcescens, Serratia lique faciens, Providencia rettgeri, Providencia alcalifaciens , Citrobacter freundii, Hafnia alvei.

The following microorganisms are resistant to lomefloxacin: Pseudomonas cepacia, Treponema pallidum, Mycoplasma hominis, Streptococcus spp., Ureaplasma urealyticum and anaerobic bacteria.

For the bactericidal effect of the drug, a low concentration of the active component is sufficient. As a rule, no more than 1 μg/ml of lomefloxacin is required to inhibit the growth of 90% of strains of microorganisms. Resistance to the drug rarely develops.

Prostate extract acts selectively on the prostate gland. It reduces the degree of edema and leukocyte infiltration of the prostate; increases the number of lecithin grains in the acini secretion; normalizes the secretory function of prostate tubule epithelial cells; stimulates the tone of the smooth muscles of the bladder. It also has antiplatelet activity, reduces thrombus formation and prevents thrombosis of venules in the prostate. Prostate extract reduces pain and discomfort, improves copulatory function, and normalizes the parameters of the ejaculate and prostate gland.

Pharmacokinetics

Information on the pharmacokinetics of Vitaprost Plus is not provided.

Contraindications

Apart from age, suppositories are not recommended for the treatment of those people who are hypersensitive to any of the components. You should also avoid taking it during a course of taking drugs that suppress the excretory function of the bladder. This is due to too strong an increase in the circulation of active substances in the body and an increase in their toxic effect.

The drug should be used with caution if you have a history of the following pathologies:

  • cerebral atherosclerosis;

    Vitaprost Plus suppositories. Instructions for use, reviews, price

  • epileptic activity;
  • CNS diseases.

If there are contraindications, a more careful determination of the optimal treatment regimen with an observing specialist is recommended.

Vitaprost Plus: instructions for use (dosage and method)

Vitaprost Plus is intended for rectal use (by insertion into the rectum).

The recommended dose is one suppository once a day. Before administration, it is necessary to empty the intestines on your own or with the help of an enema. After the procedure, the patient must remain in bed for 30–40 minutes.

The duration of the course is from 10 to 30 days and is individual for each patient. Typically, Vitaprost Plus suppositories are used until the pathogenic microorganism in the prostate secretion completely disappears.

Application

Suppositories should be used regularly, without missing days throughout the entire course of treatment.

For children under 18 years old

Vitaprost Plus suppositories have good reviews. However, they are not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age. This is due to a possible negative effect on the structure and growth of bones throughout the body.

For adults

Adults should always administer only 1 suppository. Exceeding the dosage can provoke the development of side effects and lead to complications. The best time to administer is immediately before going to bed at night. Standard regimen – 1 candle for 10 days. A longer course of therapy must be agreed upon with a urologist.

For pregnant

Vitaprost suppositories are intended exclusively for men. However, at the planning stage, even relatively healthy people can undergo preventive courses of therapy to maximize sperm quality and sperm activity. The drug also affects their number, so the chances of conceiving a child in a short time will increase significantly.

For the elderly

Candles are approved for the treatment of any category of people who have reached the age of majority. At an older age, men suffering from chronic prostatitis experience especially unpleasant symptoms. Therefore, the course of therapy can and should be as long as possible. The drug also works effectively after acute prostatitis.

Side effects

Undesirable side effects are mainly due to the presence of the antibiotic lomefloxacin in the suppositories (with the exception of allergic reactions, which can also be caused by prostate extract):

  • digestive system: discoloration of the tongue, dryness of the oral mucosa, taste perversion, bulimia or loss of appetite, dysbacteriosis, constipation or diarrhea, pseudomembranous enterocolitis, flatulence, increased activity of liver enzymes;
  • cardiovascular system: tachycardia, arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, bradycardia, decreased blood pressure, phlebitis, extrasystole, pulmonary embolism, progression of angina and heart failure;
  • respiratory system: cough, shortness of breath, increased sputum production, bronchospasm, flu-like symptoms;
  • nervous system: nervousness, fatigue, fainting, agitation, asthenia, headache, depression, dizziness, insomnia, tremor, anxiety, malaise, convulsions, paresthesia, hallucinations, hyperkinesis;
  • sense organs: pain in the eyes, noise and pain in the ears, blurred vision;
  • musculoskeletal system: calf muscle cramps, angiitis, arthralgia, chest and back pain;
  • genitourinary system: urinary retention, albuminuria, glomerulonephritis, increased urine production, edema, dysuria, lack of urine flow into the bladder, crystalluria, urethral bleeding, the presence of red blood cells in the urine, inflammation of the epididymis, orchitis;
  • hematopoietic system and hemostasis: thrombocytopenia, nosebleeds, lymphadenopathy, increased fibrinolysis, bleeding from the digestive tract, purpura;
  • metabolism: gout, hypoglycemia;
  • allergic reactions: nettle rash, itching, increased photosensitivity, malignant exudative erythema;
  • other reactions: thirst, hyperhidrosis, chills, superinfection.

How the drug works

VITAPROST suppositories have a beneficial effect on the functionality of the prostate gland:

  • improve microcirculation in the organ;
  • counteract the formation of blood clots in the vessels of the prostate gland;
  • relieve swelling (reduce the volume/size of the inflamed organ);
  • significantly reduce pain, in some cases completely eliminate it;
  • normalize the process of urination.

In addition, the presented rectal suppositories stimulate the secretion of the prostate gland, strengthen the muscular walls of the bladder, accelerate the output of urine, and relieve pain during the direct outflow of urine.

Vitaprost forte, in addition to the main active ingredient of the prostate extract, also contains a component with an antibacterial effect, so these suppositories will be especially effective in the treatment of prostate diseases with bacterial etiology.

The effectiveness of VITAPROST rectal suppositories is high, therefore significant improvements in health status were noted in 97% of patients with a specified diagnosis.

special instructions

During treatment, you should not take other fluoroquinolones (antimicrobial agents), since combination therapy with such drugs can lead to an overdose and an increase in the frequency of adverse reactions.

In patients with liver cirrhosis, no dose adjustment is required (except in cases where renal function is impaired).

During treatment with Vitaprost Plus, artificial ultraviolet lighting and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided. If there are signs of hypersensitivity, photosensitivity (including skin hypersensitivity, hyperemia, itching, burns, rashes, dermatitis, swelling and blistering), as well as symptoms of neurotoxicity (photophobia, agitation, hallucinations, tremor, confusion, convulsions, toxic psychosis ) the drug should be discontinued.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

During the period of therapy with Vitaprost Plus, the patient should be careful when driving a car or performing other work that requires quick reaction and high concentration.

Indications for use

The manufacturer recommends the drug for the treatment of the following pathologies:

  • prostatitis of a bacterial nature in a chronic form;

    Vitaprost Plus suppositories. Instructions for use, reviews, price

Storage and shelf life

It is recommended to store the product in a cool place at a temperature no higher than 25 degrees. The shelf life of the tablets is two years from the date of manufacture indicated on the packaging. After this period, the medicine is prohibited from taking.

Vitaprost Plus tablets are used only as a combination treatment for prostatitis in men. It is prescribed to patients who have no absolute contraindications. Also, the drug can be replaced with analogues for those who have a history of relative contraindications.

In other cases, it is recommended to use the tablets as prescribed by a doctor and together with other drugs whose action is aimed at eliminating the cause of inflammation of the prostate gland.

The drug "Vitaprost": reviews from men

This drug is rightfully considered one of the most effective and at the same time safe. But many patients are interested in the opinions of people who have already tried this remedy on themselves. Do Vitaprost suppositories help with prostatitis? Reviews from men confirm that after a few days the symptoms of the disease become less pronounced - the pain subsides, the urge to empty the bladder at night becomes less frequent, and health improves. Doctors also note positive dynamics that appear immediately.

Many patients ask which is better - Vitaprost suppositories or tablets? Reviews indicate that the drug is effective regardless of the form of release. Nevertheless, it is worth paying attention to the readings. For example, Vitaprost in the form of suppositories is effective for prostatitis, but for hyperplasia and overactive bladder syndrome, tablets are more often used. It is also worth considering that it is not always possible to use suppositories (for example, in case of various damage to the walls of the rectum) - in such cases it is better to take tablets. On the other hand, patients with lactose intolerance cannot take the medicine orally - only suppositories are left.

The only disadvantage of the drug is its high cost. The therapy will cost several thousand rubles, which not every patient can afford. On the other hand, improvements in health are worth any money.

You need to understand that Vitaprost is rarely used for monotherapy - in most cases, treatment involves taking other medications. Only complex therapy helps to achieve the desired effect. That is why you must consult a doctor, get tested and undergo the necessary examinations. Remember that the sooner therapy is started, the higher the chances of recovery without complications.

List of contraindications: when should the medicine not be used?

Is it always possible to use the anti-inflammatory drug Vitaprost? Reviews from experts confirm that this medicine is rightfully considered safe. If we are talking about the use of suppositories (Vitaprost, Vitaprost Forte), then the only contraindication is individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug (including auxiliary ones). The drug is also used with caution to treat minor patients whose skeletal formation has not yet been completed.

Vitaprost Plus rectal suppositories are prescribed with caution to men with epileptic disorders and some other diseases of the central nervous system. The list of relative contraindications also includes atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels.

It is worth noting that sucrose and lactose are the components of Vitaprost tablets. Reviews and instructions contain information that the medicine should not be taken by patients with lactase and sucrase deficiency. Contraindications include glucose-galactose malabsorption, as well as lactose intolerance.

Is the medicine prescribed to women?

The prostate is an organ of the male body. That is why this medicine, which is used primarily for prostatitis, is most often prescribed to men. Not many people know that sometimes women are also recommended to use Vitaprost suppositories and tablets. Reviews indicate that, as part of complex therapy, this drug helps to cope with overactive bladder syndrome during menopause and the postmenopausal period. Patients note that the medicine helps in the presence of a frequent, imperative urge to empty the bladder.

Main indications for use: when is therapy necessary?

Vitaprost indications for use

Of course, many patients are interested in the list of indications. In what cases do doctors prescribe Vitaprost tablets? Reviews from men and the results of clinical trials indicate that this form of the drug is effective in chronic non-bacterial forms of inflammation (for example, congestive prostatitis). They are also used to prevent exacerbations of chronic prostatitis. Tablets are also included in the complex therapy regimen for the presence of benign prostate hyperplasia (adenoma).

As for Vitaprost suppositories, they can be used for any form of chronic prostatitis. But “Vitaprost Forte” (reviews from men, by the way, confirm the high effectiveness of therapy) helps get rid of the appearance of an imperative urge to urinate.

If we are talking about Vitaprost Plus suppositories, then they are used for bacterial forms of inflammation of the prostate gland, both acute and chronic.

This drug (regardless of the form of release) is prescribed to men before and after prostate surgery - this is a very effective prevention of complications

Patient reviews

Arkady. I prefer the Austrian-made Gentos, but the domestic Vitaprost is also a good option. It works, although slowly, but effectively.

Victor. Vitaprost Plus has very serious side effects. Because of them, I was unable to undergo treatment. I had to ask the doctor to prescribe another medicine.

Andrey. Expensive, but effective. It helped me. I did not notice any adverse reactions during treatment.
