This medicine produces a pronounced therapeutic effect due to the fact that under its influence the intestines are populated with bifidobacteria. Bifidumbacterin is a probiotic , the effect of which ensures the restoration of normal microflora in the human intestine.
Bifidumbacterin Forte is an antagonist of a number of pathogenic, as well as so-called opportunistic microorganisms. An immunomodulatory effect is also noted; the medicine improves digestion processes and metabolism in the body, and normalizes other functions of the gastrointestinal tract.
What kind of remedy is Bifidumbacterin?
The drug is a microbial substance that contains colonies of living bifidocultures that populate the intestinal lumen. For better action, the medicine contains lactose - the “food” of bacteria, thanks to which they quickly multiply in the body. - diarrhea and intestinal dysbiosis as a result of treatment with antibiotics and other drugs.
The drug is used for the prevention of inflammatory, purulent diseases and correction of intestinal biocenosis in people in the preoperative period, as well as after surgical interventions on the liver, intestines, and pancreas. When is Bifidumbacterin used?

Instructions for use of Bifidumbacterin Forte (Method and dosage)
The instructions for Bifidumbacterin Forte include taking the medication orally. The powder should be mixed with liquid, preferably a fermented milk drink or dish, and taken before meals. You can mix the powder with boiled water in an amount of 30-50 ml, and the water should be at room temperature.
Instructions for use of Bifidumbacterin Forte stipulate that infants receive the drug during feeding; it must be mixed with breast milk.
In order to prevent dysbiosis, children under six months are prescribed 2.5 doses 1-2 times a day. Children aged 0.5 to 3 years receive 5 doses of Bifidumbacterin Forte 1-2 times a day, children over 3 years of age and adult patients receive 10 doses 1-2 times a day. The course of prophylaxis lasts from 2 to 3 weeks and is repeated 2-3 times a year.
For the purpose of treatment, Bifidumbacterin Forte should be taken as follows: children under 6 months should take 2.5 doses 2-6 times a day, children from 0.5 to 7 years old - 5 doses 3-5 times a day, from the age of seven and adult patients - 10 doses of Bifidumbacterin Forte 3-4 times a day. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment can last from 5 to 15 days.
In the preoperative period, the drug is taken for 3-5 days, after surgery - 10-15 days, 5-10 doses three times a day.

The effect of the drug is due to the high concentration of bifidobacteria (Bifidobacterium bifidum) sorbed on activated carbon particles, which are antagonists of a wide range of pathogenic (Shigella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, etc.) and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms (Proteus, Klebsiella, etc.). DOSAGE REGIME, COURSE OF TREATMENT AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The drug is used for children from birth (including premature babies), adults of all age groups.
Depending on the severity of the disease, Bifidumbacterin forte® is used in regular or increased doses.
Bifidumbacterin forte® for medicinal purposes in usual doses :
- children under 1 year: 1 packet 2-3 times a day,
- children from 1 year and older: 1 packet 3-4 times a day,
- adults: 2 packets 2-3 times a day.
The course of treatment for acute intestinal infections and food toxic infections is 5-7 days, for other diseases 15-21 days (determined by the nature and severity of the disease). If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated 2-3 times, each course is carried out a month after the end of the previous course of treatment.
For patients with surgical pathology - within 3-5 days before surgery and within 10-15 days after surgery:
- children under 1 year: 1 packet 3 times a day;

Bifidumbacterin forte® for therapeutic purposes in increased doses is prescribed to children from 1 year of age and adults.
For acute intestinal infection and acute respiratory viral infection from the first day of the disease:

The course of treatment is 1-3 days depending on the severity of the condition.
For infectious mononucleosis:
- children under 3 years old: 3 packets 3 times a day, course 5 days; then 3 packets once in the evening, course 5 days,
- children from 3 to 7 years old: 4 packets 3 times a day, course 5 days; then 4 packets once in the evening, course 5 days,
- children from 7 to 10 years old: 6 packets 3 times a day, course 5 days; then 6 packets once in the evening, course 5 days.
- children over 10 years old: 7-8 packets 3 times a day, course 5 days; then 7-8 packets once in the evening, course 5 days.
For chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract:
- children: 5 packets 1-3 times a day;
- adults: 10 packets 1-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 10-14 days.
Patients with diabetes should take into account that 5 packets of the drug contain 0.35 XE.
For preventive purposes, children under 1 year old take 1 packet 1 time per day, everyone else take 1-2 packets 1-2 times per day. The preventive course is carried out for 10-15 days 2-3 times a year.
Bifidumbacterin forte® is taken during meals, if necessary, regardless of meals.
