Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

According to the instructions, Bilobil forte is a herbal preparation. It increases the body's resistance to oxygen starvation, especially to hypoxia of brain tissue. The drug stimulates peripheral and cerebral circulation, inhibits the development of toxic or traumatic cerebral edema, and also improves the rheological properties of blood.

Bilobil forte, depending on the dose, affects the vascular wall, increases the tone of the veins and dilates small arteries. The drug prevents the release of free radicals and inhibits lipid peroxidation in cell membranes. Under the influence of Bilobil forte, the release, as well as re-absorption, catabolism and the ability to bind to neurotransmitter receptors (dopamine, acetylcholine, norepinephrine) are normalized. The drug helps improve metabolism in tissues and organs, increase the utilization of glucose and oxygen, accumulate macroergs in cells and normalize mediator processes in the central nervous system.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption of flavone glycosides occurs in the small intestine. The time to reach maximum plasma concentration is 2 hours, and the half-life is from 2 to 4 hours.

Side effects

  • gastrointestinal tract: very rarely - vomiting, nausea, loose stools;
  • nervous system: very rarely - insomnia, dizziness, headache;
  • sense organs: frequency unknown – hearing impairment;
  • blood coagulation system: very rarely - decreased blood clotting (in patients who were simultaneously taking drugs that reduce blood clotting, cases of bleeding were observed during long-term treatment with drugs based on ginkgo biloba);
  • allergic reactions: very rarely - itching, swelling, redness of the skin.

If unwanted side effects occur, treatment with the drug should be stopped and consult a doctor.

Interactions with other medicinal drugs and other types of interactions

The patient should not take the drug, since it often contains acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin or thiazide diuretics.

When the drug is ingested for one hour with medications that inhibit blood coagulation (such as phenprocoumon and acetylsalicylic acid), the remaining effect may be enhanced - the risk of bleeding is increased.

The immediate use of ginkgo bean extract with low-intensity medicinal methods is particularly noticeable:

  • Ginkgo whites are highly metabolized by antiepileptic drugs, which are metabolized by the CYP2C enzyme system. With concomitant therapy, anti-epileptic drugs (valproate, phenytoin) can change the seizure threshold, which increases the likelihood of an epileptic attack.
  • The interaction of ginkgo bean extract with drugs that are metabolized by the cytochrome P450 enzyme system cannot be completely turned off (inhibition or induction of certain isoenzymes is possible).

special instructions

If hypersensitivity reactions occur, the drug should be discontinued. The patient should inform the doctor about the use of Bilobil forte before any surgical operation.

If there is a sudden deterioration or loss of hearing, as well as the reappearance of tinnitus and dizziness, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Patients receiving anticoagulant drugs, as well as persons with bleeding diathesis, should consult a specialist before using Bilobil forte.

The body and cap of the gelatin capsules of the drug contain the dye azorubine, which can cause bronchospasm or allergic reactions in patients with increased individual sensitivity.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

During treatment with Bilobil forte, care must be taken when engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require a high concentration of attention and quick reaction (for example, driving a car, working as a dispatcher and operator).

Side effects

In case of stagnation, the following side reactions may occur:

On the side of the grass tract:

sort out the etching; dyspepsia; diarrhea; abdominal pain; tediousness, vomiting.

On the side of the immune system:

hypersensitivity reactions, including angioedema, urticaria, buttocks.

On the side of the nervous system:

headache; confused; innocence (including vasovagal).

From the side of the skin:

singed skin, blistering, bumps, visip, itching, eczema.

In isolated cases of ingestion of drugs containing ginkgo biloba extract, especially in case of one-hour infusion with anticoagulants and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as phenprocoumon and acetylsalicylic acid), hemorrhage may occur intestinal, ophthalmic, cerebral). The cause of these episodes has not been established.

The drug contains barberry azorubin (E 122), which can cause allergic reactions in some cases.

In case of any unexpected reactions, the traces of the drug will become stagnant and will inevitably lead to the doctor.

Reports of suspected adverse reactions.

Reports of suspected adverse reactions following drug registration are of great importance. This makes it possible to carry out continuous monitoring of the relationship between the blood and the risks associated with medical treatment. Health professionals are responsible for reporting any suspected adverse reactions to the national reporting system.

Unique miracle tree

Ginkgo is a gymnosperm dioecious plant with fan-shaped leaves measuring up to 5 - 7.5 cm. Homeland of growth: China. Interesting Facts:

  • Ginkgo trees have incredible resistance to air pollution, so they “get along” well in large cities.
  • Six plants came to life within a one and a half kilometer zone from the explosion site after the nuclear bombing of Japan.
  • In France it is grown specifically for pharmaceutical processing.
  • Near temple buildings in China and Japan, Ginkgo trees grow up to 30 meters high; scientists say their age exceeds several thousand years.

The highest content of active components (bioflavonoids) is found in the leaves, which begin to acquire a yellowish color in early autumn.
