Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Heparin sodium is a direct anticoagulant, part of the group of medium molecular heparins. It prevents thrombus formation, enhances the fibrinolytic properties of blood, and inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase.
When used externally, heparin sodium is characterized by local anti-inflammatory, decongestant and antithrombotic effects: the drug reduces tissue swelling, prevents the formation of blood clots, and also activates tissue metabolism and improves blood microcirculation processes, which promotes accelerated resorption of hematomas.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Pharmacodynamics reveals the mechanism of action of a drug on the body, and pharmacokinetics describes the chemical transformations of a drug.
Pharmacodynamics
The main active ingredient (heparin) is a direct-acting anticoagulant. Its main properties:
- helps suppress the activity of hyaluronidase, thereby eliminating internal hemorrhages and slowing down tissue aging;
- inhibits blood clotting factors in the vascular bed, preventing the formation of blood clots.
With the complex effect of all components of Lyoton gel:
- improves blood circulation;
- reduces inflammation;
- normalizes the permeability of vascular walls;
- improves metabolic processes in tissues, becomes a catalyst for their rapid regeneration;
- prevents the formation of blood clots and reduces them with long-term use.
Due to improved blood circulation in the lower extremities, rapid tissue regeneration occurs.
Pharmacokinetics
The main active ingredient can enter the bloodstream in small concentrations and spread throughout the body, but in small doses it has no effect on blood clotting. Heparin sodium does not cross the placenta.
The medicine is quickly absorbed when rubbed into the skin. It begins to act within half an hour after application. The maximum concentration is reached after 8 hours and is excreted from the body within 12-24 hours, mainly through the kidneys.
Instructions for use of Lyoton 1000: method and dosage
Lyoton 1000 is used externally, applying the gel to the affected area and gently rubbing, 1-3 times a day. Single dose – 3-10 cm of gel.
Recommended duration of treatment:
- localized consequences of injuries and bruises (infiltration, hematoma, swelling of soft tissues) - the gel should be used until the symptoms disappear;
- initial symptoms of venous insufficiency (venous edema, heaviness and pain in the legs) - course duration is from 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the severity of symptoms;
- chronic venous insufficiency (superficial periphlebitis, varicose veins, superficial thrombophlebitis) - course duration is from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the severity of symptoms; If further therapy is necessary, consult a doctor.
special instructions
When prescribing Lyoton gel, special instructions should be taken into account.
During pregnancy, the use of the drug is possible because it does not penetrate the placental barrier. But consultation with a specialist is required, because the effect of the medicine on the body of a pregnant woman has not been studied separately.
During lactation, Lyoton is also used only after a doctor's permission.
Persons over 60 years of age are not recommended to use the gel without first consulting a doctor.
Gel Lyoton does not affect the reaction when driving cars or other complex mechanisms.
Before starting use, patients with an allergy to parabens and bronchial asthma should consult a doctor, even if there are no direct contraindications.
The product is not applied to the skin in the eye area or mucous membranes.
Lyoton gel should not be used in the treatment of hemorrhoids, as irritation may occur.
In case of hemocoagulation disorders, large areas of skin should not be covered.
Reviews of Lyoton 1000
There are mostly positive reviews about Lyoton 1000 on the Internet. On specialized resources, this antithrombotic drug for external use has a rating of 4-4.5 points out of 5. Since the gel contains sodium heparin in high concentration, it eliminates the consequences of bruises and sprains and prevents spider veins, eliminates pain and swelling, relieves the feeling of heaviness in the legs.
Very often, Lyoton 1000 is prescribed to pregnant women, since during this period the risk of developing adverse events associated with venous insufficiency increases significantly. Many of them note that the drug effectively relieves stagnation of venous blood, prevents the development of severe edema and thrombophlebitis, helps with leg fatigue, and improves the tone of the vascular walls.
There are also negative reviews about the gel, which say that, despite a long course of treatment, manifestations of varicose veins remained, and there was no obvious improvement in the condition of the legs. However, experts say that Lyoton 1000 does not treat varicose veins, but is only a means of maintenance therapy to slow down the progression of the pathological process and prevent complications.
Many tips mention that walking, swimming, wearing compression knitted bandages, and contrast showers for the legs help increase the effectiveness of using the gel. You should also wear comfortable shoes, cross your legs less frequently, and frequently rest your lower extremities by placing them in an elevated position.
Some patients purchase Lyoton 1000 gel for cosmetic purposes, to apply it to the skin of the face. The spectrum of action of the drug allows its use as a refreshing, tonic, tightening and decongestant. Sometimes women use it as a base for makeup, and plastic surgeons in many cases recommend the gel to improve the condition of facial skin after blepharoplasty or other cosmetic procedures.
What does Lyoton gel help with?
The medicine helps well:
- For venous diseases that occur with inflammation of the venous walls and are accompanied by increased formation of blood clots. After regular use, spider veins are eliminated and the protruding capillary network disappears.
- In case of internal tissue damage with the formation of hematomas, including in the facial area. The medicine is prescribed after bruises, squeezing of arms and legs.
- For muscle injuries. The gel is prescribed as part of a complex treatment; it relieves swelling and eliminates inflammatory processes. As a result, rehabilitation is accelerated, especially after sports injuries.
As a preventative measure, phlebologists recommend using Lyoton for people who spend most of their time on their feet, as they are at risk of developing varicose veins.
Lyoton during pregnancy
As already mentioned, the ointment in this case should be used under the supervision of the attending physician. It is also necessary to remember about increased sensitivity during pregnancy, which can provoke allergic reactions on the skin. Therefore, before starting a course of treatment with this ointment, it is better to apply it in a small amount to the skin as a test and monitor the reaction. If peeling, itching, blisters or red spots occur, the drug should be washed off with water and a course of treatment should be started. In the case of the beneficial effects of Lyoton 1000 ointment, the course usually consists of a monthly alternation of using the drug and resting from it throughout the entire gestation period.

Analogs
If for some reason Lyoton gel cannot be used, then it can be successfully replaced with analogues, but they must be selected by a doctor.
Popular analogues of Lyoton:
- heparin ointment;
- Trombless;
- Venitan Forte;
- Troxevasin Neo;
- Lavenum.
Heparin ointment
There are two active substances in the ointment: sodium heparin and benzocaine. The drug resolves blood clots and prevents their occurrence, relieves pain, and relieves inflammation. The mechanism of action of ointment and Lyoton gel is approximately the same.
The list of indications for heparin ointment is almost the same as that of Lyoton, but in addition it can treat:
- haemorrhoids;
- superficial mastitis;
- trophic ulcers;
- elephantiasis.
The most common side effects are allergic reactions, and angioedema is possible.
Unlike Lyoton, heparin ointment is prohibited for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The cost of heparin ointment is approximately 60 rubles.
Trombless
The main active ingredient is sodium heparin. The composition is almost identical to Lyoton, but it does not contain essential oils. Trombless is also a direct anticoagulant, it eliminates swelling, relieves heaviness in the legs and pain.
The drug is mainly used to treat thrombophlebitis, as well as to eliminate the consequences of injuries and bruises.
The most common adverse reactions are urticaria and rash.
If pregnant, consult a doctor before use.
Trombless is packaged in tubes of 10, 20,30, 40, 50 g.
There is a more effective analogue with an additional composition - Trombless Plus. In addition to heparin, the composition includes: benzocaine, dexpanthenol, troxerutin.
The most common packaging of Trombless is: 30 and 50 g. Approximate prices:
- 30 g - from 230 rubles;
- 50 g - from 350 rub.
Trombless Plus costs from 320 rubles. (30 g), from 450 rub. (50 g).
Venitan Forte
The therapeutic effect in the drug Venitan Forte is ensured by two active substances: heparin and beta-escin (a natural component obtained from horse chestnut). The gel belongs to the group of angioprotectors.
Main indications for use:
- phlebeurysm;
- thrombosis;
- trophic ulcers;
- thrombophlebitis;
- phlebitis after intravenous administration of medications.

The indications are almost the same as those of Lyoton gel, but chronic venous insufficiency is added to them.
Adverse reactions are mainly local (rash, redness), sometimes there is a decrease in sensitivity at the site of application.
Doctors do not recommend using Troxevasin Neo for pregnant women, and breastfeeding should be stopped during the treatment period.
The drug is sold in tubes of 40 g, price - from 270 rubles.
Lavenum
Lavenum is an almost complete analogue of Lyoton, but it contains only lavender essential oil, while Lyoton contains a combination of lavender + neroli. The drug has a moderate effect in relieving pain, reduces swelling, and prevents the formation of blood clots.
Indications for use are exactly the same as for Lyoton.
