pharmachologic effect
Antimicrobial drug for topical use.
It has antiprotozoal, antifungal and antibacterial effects. Nifuratel, a nitrofuran derivative, is highly active against
a number of bacteria, fungi and protozoa (including Trichomonas vaginalis).
Nystatin is an antifungal antibiotic of the polyene group. By binding to sterols in the cell membrane of fungi, it disrupts its permeability, which leads to cell death. Highly active against
Candida albicans.
The combination of nifuratel and nystatin allows one to achieve a more pronounced antifungal effect and significantly expand the spectrum of antimicrobial action. The high efficiency and low toxicity of the components of the drug determine a wide range of its clinical use in the treatment of vaginitis of mixed etiology, in particular, use for the prevention of mycoses caused by the specific treatment of trichomoniasis.
Macmiror complex does not disturb the physiological flora, which allows you to avoid the development of dysbacteriosis and quickly restore vaginal normocenosis.
McMiror complex
Macmiror Complex is a combined antibacterial agent for the treatment of vulvovaginitis caused by microorganisms sensitive to the active components of the drug (including trichomonas, candida, chlamydia). The most common causes of vaginitis are infestations of Trichomonas, Candida, and Gardnerella. The main complication of such infections is recurrence, which disrupts the well-being of both the woman herself and the couple as a whole. With trichomoniasis, there is a high risk of an asymptomatic course of this disease in the partner, who, due to the latency of the pathological process, in most cases is not inclined to undergo treatment. In this regard, in such situations, when it is impossible to accurately diagnose the pathogen, the prevalence of mixed infections and the likelihood of recurrence should be taken into account when choosing treatment tactics. For this reason, today the standard treatment for mixed vulvovaginitis is the use of combination drugs that act on bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. A drug that meets this criterion is Macmiror Complex, which contains two active components: nifuratel and nystatin. The first exhibits a pronounced trichomonadocidal effect, which is more powerful than metronidazole. Nifuratel also has fungicidal and antibacterial effects. In turn, nystatin increases the permeability of the fungal membrane and, even in low doses, can have an antimycotic effect.
Nystatin does not have a bactericidal or bacteriostatic effect. Nifuratel and nystatin potentiate the antimycotic effect of each other. Nystatin also potentiates the antibacterial and antiprotozoal effects of nifuratel. In clinical studies, Macmiror Complex demonstrated effectiveness in 60-100% of cases, depending on the causative agent of the infection. A repeated medication course brought the desired result in 85-100% of cases. Both dosage forms of the drug - cream and suppositories - showed equal effectiveness. The drug is well tolerated by patients, incl. pregnant women. Suppositories are used in the evenings before going to bed for 8 days (by agreement with the doctor, a different duration of pharmacotherapy is possible). After menstruation, the medication course can be repeated. The suppository is inserted into the upper area of the vagina. In pediatric practice, suppositories are not used, preferring cream. Single dose of cream – 2.5 g. Frequency of use – 1-2 times a day. Duration of treatment – 8 days. The cream is applied using the graduated applicator included in the package. The drug has a favorable safety profile: only in rare cases are side effects possible in the form of dermatological manifestations (itching, rash). Due to the risk of repeated microbial invasion, it is recommended to simultaneously treat the sexual partner.
Instructions for use / dosage
The drug is intended for topical use for gynecological or venereal diseases.
Vaginal suppositories
1 vaginal suppository is administered daily in the evening before bed for 8 days or as recommended by your doctor. If necessary, treatment can be repeated after menstruation.
To achieve the maximum therapeutic effect, the suppository should be inserted into the upper part of the vagina.
Suppositories are not used for treatment in children. For this category of patients, it is recommended to use vaginal cream complete with an applicator (graduated syringe).
Vaginal cream
Prescribe 2.5 g of cream 1-2 times a day. (morning or evening) for 8 days.
The required dose of cream should be administered using a graduated applicator.
Instructions for use of the graduated applicator
Screw the graduated applicator onto the tube of cream. Take the required amount of cream (in accordance with the scale lines indicating the amount in grams) by pressing on the tube. Disconnect from the tube, insert into the vagina, squeeze out the contents of the applicator, pressing on the rod.
The presence of a special nozzle allows you to introduce the cream without damaging the hymen. To do this, you need to remove the cannula from the top of the shaft and screw it onto the head of the syringe from the opposite side before inserting the cream into the vagina.
