Problems with the intestines and gastrointestinal tract (hereinafter referred to as the gastrointestinal tract) are known to every inhabitant of the planet, regardless of age and gender. Diarrhea, constipation, painful sensations in the stomach, bloating, increased gas formation, etc. - such troubles can be caused by a not entirely healthy lifestyle (poor diet, alcohol, ecology), as well as by taking various medications and others beyond your control. from human circumstances.

Healthy eating

In any case, any disruptions in the gastrointestinal tract will sooner or later affect not only your well-being, but also your overall health. In order to avoid unnecessary problems, there are various preparations of the probiotics and synbiotics group. "Maxilak" is one of the most popular drugs in this group. Let's look at it in detail.

Probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics: what's the difference?

Capsules with symbiotic

First, let's figure out how probiotics differ from prebiotics and what synbiotics are. And most importantly, why are they needed?

  • Probiotics (lacto and bifidobacteria) are responsible for the condition of the intestinal microflora and are living microorganisms. They are better known to the common man from advertising of “live” yoghurts.
  • Prebiotics (oligosaccharides) - work in the colon, performing the function of normalizing intestinal microflora. They also serve as a nutrient medium for the normal functioning of probiotics.
  • Synbiotics are so-called “combos” of pro- and prebiotics. This combination helps to strengthen each other’s components and helps to quickly cope with gastrointestinal problems.

If we look at the composition of Maxilak in detail, we will see that the drug is precisely a synbiotic. That is, it contains both probiotics and prebiotics. This combination of components allows you to cope with the restoration of microflora in the intestines in the shortest possible time. Or, conversely, avoid these problems.

Pharmacology

Maxilac is a biologically active food supplement containing 9 bacterial cultures necessary for healthy human intestinal flora, the concentration of which reaches 4.5 ⁹ CFU.

Bifidobacteria contained in capsules prevent the proliferation of pathogens, increasing the weakened immunomodulatory function of the intestines, protecting the body from harmful viruses and bacteria.

Lactobacilli prevent the development of food allergies by normalizing metabolic processes. Due to this, healthy intestinal motility is normalized, and the ability to absorb calcium, vitamin D and iron increases.

Fructooligosaccharides prevent a predisposition to constipation, increase the ability of beneficial microorganisms to multiply, thereby reducing the population of pathogenic bacteria. In addition, fructooligosaccharides promote the active removal of toxins and waste from the body, normalizing intestinal function and protecting against diarrhea.

A special formula, developed specifically for the formation of capsules, allows you to preserve live bacteria, reliably protecting them from the aggressive environment of the stomach, as well as pancreatic and gallbladder enzymes in the duodenum. Due to this, all dietary supplement microorganisms are released in the intestines without loss.

The capsules do not contain gluten and casein, which makes Maxilac safe for risk groups with congenital allergies to these substances. However, celiac disease is not an indication for prescribing a course of symbiotics, because improving the ability of intestinal absorption does not mean the appearance of enzymes missing in bile and pancreatic secretions. Celiac disease requires a special diet that excludes gluten-containing foods. In addition, the dietary supplement is safe for people with lactose intolerance.

The capsule shell contains no animal fats, which means that vegetarians can take them without compromising their beliefs.

"Maxilak": indications

The main indications for taking a course of synbiotic are:

  • functional bowel disorders;
  • taking antibiotics and drugs that aggravate the condition of the intestinal microflora;
  • periods of influenza and ARVI epidemics.

Symptoms of diarrhea

Functional bowel disorder means diarrhea, flatulence, vomiting, nausea, shortness of breath, constipation. "Maxilak" eliminates these problems in 5-7 days. For long-lasting results, you should take the full course.

When taking antibiotics and similar medications, a synbiotic is prescribed in order to neutralize the unpleasant effects of these drugs. In this case, the doctor recommends a course of taking Maxilak individually, depending on the severity of the treatment.

As for the prophylactic use of the synbiotic during an epidemic of influenza and other viral infections, it can be used in accordance with the instructions for use. "Maxilak" is recommended to be taken for 30 days. If necessary, it can be repeated up to 3 times a year. This is usually enough to maintain healthy microflora.

In the instructions for use of Maxilak, the drug is also recommended for use as a prophylaxis for intestinal disorders. They can be triggered by various factors: acclimatization during travel, taking antibiotics and other medications, unusual food, stress, etc. The drug can also be used as an aid for constipation, diarrhea, food poisoning, during weight loss/gain and etc.

Stomach ache

Sometimes the attending physician may prescribe Maxilac in advance to avoid problems with the gastrointestinal tract during the course of treatment. Most often, this is done when prescribing a course of antibiotics, when a potent drug kills the beneficial intestinal microflora and it will be difficult for the body to recover on its own. In such cases, you should not refuse to take the synbiotic, citing the fact that the dietary supplement can easily replace kefir or “live” yogurt. Alas, this is not true.

special instructions

The instructions for use of the drug include a paragraph of special instructions from which you can gain new knowledge:

  • Before use, consultation with a doctor is required;
  • the preparations contain bacteria that effectively break down and digest lactose, so they can be used for lactase deficiency and lactose intolerance;
  • the drug reduces the negative impact of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on the gastric mucosa, increases the effectiveness of gastritis therapy;
  • taking the medication does not affect concentration or the state of the central nervous system, therefore, during therapy it is not prohibited to operate machinery or drive a car;
  • Over the entire period of clinical use of the drugs, there have been no cases of overdose; the maximum that can develop is diarrhea (if the stool has not returned to normal the next day, the dosage is reduced).

"Maxilak": composition

The contents of the drug were developed in such a way as to restore the intestinal microflora as quickly as possible. All components are obtained using lyophilization. This is a drying process that allows you to obtain a dry component without loss of biological properties. That is, all components of the drug remain working, despite the fact that they are in a dry state. The synbiotic contains the following components:

  • 8 probiotic bacteria, including bifidobacteria bifidum, longum and lactis;
  • oligofructose;
  • excipients: starch, shellac, gellan gum, etc.

The drug "Maxilak" is available in capsule form. The color of the capsule contents can vary from light cream to darker shades. Also acceptable are inclusions of a darker color and larger size. This is due to the peculiarities of production and the encapsulation process (placing a substance in a capsule shell).

Mode of application

Maxilak capsules are intended exclusively for oral use. Adults and children over 3 years of age are recommended to take 1 capsule per day with meals. If the child is not able to swallow the capsule, then its contents can be poured into water at room temperature and given to the baby to drink. The course of such treatment can last up to 30 days. Please note that the instructions for use of Maxilac indicate that the drug can be taken by children over 3 years of age. If any problems arise in a child under 3 years of age, then you should pay attention to synbiotics for children of the younger age category, since these drugs take into account the characteristics of the microflora of children.

Side effects

Maxilak is a dietary supplement that is very well tolerated. However, in people with individual intolerance, taking the drug can cause allergic reactions, manifested by rashes and itching of the skin of the body.

Overdose

There have never been any cases of overdose with Maxilac during the entire period of its clinical use. Exceeding the dosage specified in the instructions may result in the development of one or two diarrhea. In such cases, it is recommended to monitor your stool.

If it has not returned to normal the next day after the overdose, you need to reduce the dosage of the dietary supplement or change the frequency of its use (for example, take Maxilac every other day, not daily).

Contraindications

Maxilac is prohibited from taking:

  • children under three years old;
  • in case of individual intolerance to the components of the dietary supplement.

During pregnancy

There are no restrictions on the use of Maxilac capsules during pregnancy. This is due to the safety of the drug and the absence of negative effects on the development and growth of the fetus. Pregnant women are prescribed Maxilak to eliminate the same diseases and conditions as in men or non-pregnant representatives of the fairer sex.

In the early stages of pregnancy, Maxilak reduces the severity of toxicosis and can be used as part of symptomatic treatment. During the remaining stages of pregnancy, the dietary supplement is taken for constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, after illnesses, and also together with antibiotics.

"Maxilak" for children

Healthy eating for children

"Maxilak" capsules are intended for use by children over 3 years of age. For children under this age, you can find “Maxilak baby” in the pharmacy. This synbiotic is sold in powder form. The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in liquid and given to the baby to drink. Warm milk (with a temperature no higher than 40 degrees) is best suited for this. "Maxilak baby" does not have any pronounced smell or taste, so it will be invisible to the child. In addition, when developing the synbiotic formula, the characteristics of the microflora of a small child were taken into account.

Analogs

To date, there are no analogues identical in composition to Maxilak. But there are drugs that have similar effects. These include “Lactofiltrum”, “Acipol”, “Acilact”, “Linex”, “Bifiform”, “Probifortis”, etc. All these drugs are intended to normalize intestinal function. They have different compositions, different combinations of pre- and probiotics.

For example, the drug "Lactofiltrum" has a more pronounced absorbent effect. It is often prescribed to remove various allergens from the body. "Acipol" is developed on the basis of kefir bacteria. It increases the absorption of the gastrointestinal tract and is recommended for colitis and mild dysbacteriosis. "Bifiform" prevents the proliferation of pathogenic microflora of the stomach.

Each of these drugs has properties similar to Maxilac, but cannot always replace it. Everything will depend on the cause of the ailment and individual characteristics.
