pharmachologic effect

Stoptussin drops are a combined remedy that has a pronounced antitussive, mucolytic and expectorant effect. Properly selected components of the drug enhance all these therapeutic effects.

Guaifenesin stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands and breaks down mucus. As a result, the mucous secretion is removed better and faster. Butamirate citrate reduces the intensity of cough due to its anesthetic effect on the nerve endings of the bronchial mucosa. Thanks to this composition, Stoptussin drops are used to treat non-productive (dry) cough, which is accompanied by severe irritation of the throat.

The active substances, once inside the body, quickly penetrate into the blood (almost 100%). A small part is excreted by the intestines with feces, the majority by the kidneys with urine.

Areas of application of Stoptussin

The choice of the dosage form of Stoptussin is made taking into account the patient’s age and the characteristics of the course of the disease.

Drops and tablets have a combined effect. After their use, mucus in the bronchi is liquefied, which facilitates its removal from the respiratory tract. Stoptussin in tablet and drop form has an antitussive effect. This effect is due to the active substances included in the drug.
