Doctor Mom tablets: composition and properties

Doctor Mom tablets are an effective herbal preparation that has an expectorant effect

For the treatment of severe dry cough and irritable throat syndrome, the drug Doctor Mom tablets has proven itself very well, the instructions for which will tell you how to use this medicine correctly.

This drug is a topical anti-inflammatory and expectorant. The medicine is based on plant extracts, formulated into cute and quite tasty lollipops with a pronounced fruity taste. They are painted in bright colors corresponding to the fruits whose taste and aroma they have. The tablets are transparent, like colored glass, and may have small air bubbles inside - this does not affect their quality in any way. The lozenges are packaged in foil blisters, which perfectly protect them from environmental influences and help you carry the right amount with you.

The drug contains well-known herbal cough remedies:

  • licorice extract (expectorant, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects)
  • ginger rhizome extract (pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory effect)
  • Emblica officinalis fruit extract (antipyretic and anti-inflammatory)
  • levomenthol (antiseptic and antispasmodic effect)
  • various excipients.

When choosing this over-the-counter medication, you must take into account the naturalness of the raw materials used - any of its components can cause allergies. Most often, skin rashes of the classic urticaria type occur, but with an allergic reaction to licorice root, intestinal upset may occur, most often diarrhea, including accompanied by skin rashes and redness.

At the slightest manifestation of a negative reaction to the drug, its use should be discontinued and an antihistamine should be taken to eliminate the rash.

When the lollipop is absorbed, the active ingredients go directly to the source of inflammation in the throat, soften and disinfect it, and are quickly absorbed into the blood, helping to fight cough. Thanks to this form of release, lozenges can be used to quickly block a coughing attack that can occur when the ambient temperature changes, for example, when entering and leaving public transport or a room.

Release form, shelf life and storage

Preparations from the Doctor Mom series are available in the form of syrup, lozenges or tablets, and ointments for rubbing. Doctor Mom tablets, instructions for use of which are in each box of the drug, are sold at the pharmacy in cardboard packs of 20 round transparent tablets, which are sealed in foil.

The drug is dispensed from pharmacies without a prescription and has a shelf life of up to five years from the release date marked on the packaging. The medicine must be stored in a cool room away from sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.

Since the drug has an appearance that is extremely reminiscent of ordinary candies or dragees, lollipops should be kept as far as possible from the access of small children, and elders must be explained that this is a medicine that, if used incorrectly, can cause harm to health.

Side effects

The syrup has proven itself to be an effective and safe remedy. Negative reactions usually do not appear when using it. In rare cases, allergic reactions (rash, swelling , itching , redness) and gastrointestinal disorders ( heartburn , nausea, diarrhea ) are observed.

I myself often relieve coughing attacks with these tablets, but my son is allergic to them, as well as to syrup. We treat him only with Gedelix, we are even afraid to give him other syrups, not only does he have a cough, then we also have to treat a rash all over his body, which is an extra problem.

Doctor Mom syrup has too much sugar and ingredients in its composition. Therefore, it is not particularly useful for children. It seems to me that it would be better to do it without sugar at all and with just one thing, like Gedelix. We wanted the best, but it turned out...

For children, the sucrose in the composition is not so terrible, if, of course, their parents mainly monitor the child’s proper nutrition, without exposing him to the risk of diabetes. By the way, diarrhea can also occur from sweeteners in pharmaceutical candies. The main thing is not to exceed the course of taking candies, otherwise licorice is also a phytohormone.

Anyway, everyone selects medications to suit their needs; it is difficult to find a drug that helps everyone and everything. In my opinion, there is no better remedy for treating cough than Gedelix. It is completely natural - no harm, only benefit. Day 3 - and the cough is no longer painful, it goes away, unlike other drugs such as Berodual. But to recover faster, you can also use folk recipes: milk with honey, soda, herbal teas with raspberries and ginger, hot foot baths

After carefully studying various opinions, we can conclude that the drug helps mainly patients who start taking it at the first sign of a cold and use the drug in strict accordance with the instructions.

Some people leave reviews of Doctor Mom ointment, reporting that they combined the product with syrup and took lozenges at the same time. As a result, such patients were able to easily and quickly get rid of the negative symptoms of a cold . All this also allows us to judge the drug Doctor Mom in all forms of release as an effective cough .

Purpose

Doctor Mom is prescribed for respiratory diseases accompanied by a dry cough

Doctor Mom tablets, the instructions for which are clear and understandable, are prescribed for the following diseases:

  • Pharyngitis.
  • Laryngitis, including those caused by professional activities. This disease often affects artists, announcers, teachers, lecturers, in short, people who have to talk a lot at work and often raise their voices, straining the vocal cords and provoking inflammation of the mucous membranes of the pharynx.
  • Tracheitis.
  • Bronchitis.

The tablets do an excellent job with the dry (non-productive) form of cough, in which very little sputum is produced, and the mucous membranes of the throat are dry and irritated. They are prescribed for acute and chronic diseases of the upper respiratory tract with a strong irritating suffocating cough.

Dosage and rules of use

Correct use of the drug Doctor Mom is the key to a quick recovery!

The use of the drug must be regular to have a pronounced effect. For this purpose, it is recommended to use one lozenge of the product every two hours until the symptoms of the disease completely disappear. The usual treatment period should not be more than two or three weeks at a time.

The tablets are placed in the mouth and dissolved slowly, not intensively, so that the active ingredients fall directly onto the largest possible area of the mucous membranes of the throat. This helps soften dry and inflamed mucous membranes, stopping attacks of dry cough and causing increased sputum production. You are allowed to consume no more than 10 cough drops per day, although there is no documented evidence of the possibility of an overdose with this drug.

In order to enhance the effect of the drug, after dissolving each tablet, it is recommended not to eat or drink any liquids for at least 15 minutes.

Since the drug contains substances such as dextrose and sucrose, it is not recommended to use Doctor Mom in any form, including in the form of lozenges, for patients suffering from diabetes mellitus, as well as for people following a low-calorie diet. Also, these sweet substances, flavors and dyes can complicate existing diseases of tooth enamel and gums with areas of inflammation and infection.

Herbion syrup of plantain and primrose - properties, instructions, analogues

It must be remembered that Doctor Mom is not candy, but a full-fledged drug, therefore the parallel use of other medications with the same or similar effects, antitussives, as well as medications that reduce the formation of sputum, is unacceptable.

Useful video - Can pregnant women take the drug Doctor Mom:

The use of Doctor Mom in the form of lozenges or tablets is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. This is done not because the medicine can actually harm the mother or unborn child, but because of the lack of research and documented data on the possible harm or complete safety of the drug.

Due to the risk of allergies, doctors do not recommend using this product for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers to avoid the potential risk of harm to the fetus or the expectant mother.

Interaction of the drug with other drugs

The drug Doctor MOM in the form of syrup is not recommended for use simultaneously with antitussives that suppress the cough center. Such drug interactions can lead to the accumulation of sputum and its descent into the lower respiratory tract, which in turn causes the development of a secondary bacterial infection.

Antibiotics or antiviral drugs may enhance the therapeutic effect of the syrup.

It is not recommended to use several types of drugs with mucolytic and bronchodilator effects at once, as this increases the risk of developing side effects.
