Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The action of Calcemin is due to the properties of its constituent components.

Calcium takes part in the formation of bone tissue, increases its density and reduces resorption (resorption), and also helps strengthen joints and the skeletal system and prevents diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Calcium citrate has the following effects on the body:

  • ensures the absorption of calcium even in conditions of disruption of the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract (for example, with a decrease in secretory function and during the period of taking drugs to reduce secretion);
  • regulates the level of parathyroid hormone, thus improving the regulation of calcium homeostasis;
  • slows down the processes of bone tissue destruction.

Also, this substance does not increase the content of calcium and oxalates in the urine (does not lead to the formation of kidney stones) and does not block the absorption of iron (does not cause iron deficiency anemia).

Vitamin D3 is involved in the regulation of phosphorus and calcium metabolism, the formation of the bone skeleton, ensures the preservation of bone structure, enhances the processes of calcium absorption in the intestine and phosphorus reabsorption in the renal tubules.

Zinc regulates the formation of sex hormones and slows down the process of bone tissue destruction.

Manganese takes part in the synthesis of proteoglycans, forms the protein matrix of bone tissue and improves its quality.

Boron reduces excessive activity of parathyroid hormone and the risk of developing cholecalciferol deficiency, improves calcium absorption and reduces the likelihood of developing osteoporosis.

Copper takes part in the production of collagen and elastin, which is part of connective and bone tissue.

The difference lies in the larger dose of the main components in Advance . For example, there is 2 times more calcium, and 4 times more vitamin D3.

How effective is the medicine?

This drug is highly effective due to the sufficient amount of calcium it contains. Calcium plays an important role for the human body, so if it is deficient, it needs to be replenished with this microelement.

However, do not forget that excess calcium in the body can lead to adverse consequences. You should not consume Calcemin at will. A doctor's prescription must be obtained to take calcium supplements.

Uncontrolled use of Calcemin and its analogues is strictly prohibited. According to doctors, the drug is well tolerated by the human body and can be used by both pregnant and lactating women. Adverse reactions

The drug, if the dose is observed, is well tolerated by most patients. Rarely may occur:

  • nausea, vomiting;
  • unstable stool;
  • abdominal pain, bloating;
  • rashes, redness on the skin, itching.

In case of overdose the following appears:

  • weakness,
  • headache,
  • loss of appetite,
  • dizziness,
  • short-term loss of consciousness,
  • bone pain,
  • heart rhythm disturbances,
  • tendency to constipation.

If you take high doses for a long time and uncontrollably, calcium is deposited in organs and artery walls, and blood circulation worsens. An extremely high level of calcium salts leads to a comatose state with a fatal outcome.

Interaction with other drugs

Vitamin A taken during therapy reduces the toxicity of vitamin D3.

The effect of vitamin D3 is weakened by phenytoin, barbiturates, glucocorticoids, and laxative medications reduce its absorption.

Glucocorticoids, oral contraceptives, levothyroxine impair the absorption of calcium ions.

When prescribed in parallel with tetracycline, the difference between taking it with Calcemin should be at least 3 hours, with bisphosphonates and sodium fluoride - at least 2 hours (their absorption worsens).

When prescribing Calcemin with cardiac glycosides, the toxicity of the latter increases, so you need to monitor the patient’s well-being and do an ECG.

When prescribed in combination with thiazide diuretics, the risk of hypercalcemia increases; with furosemide and other “loop” diuretics, the excretion of calcium in the urine increases.

Calcemin is not recommended to be taken in combination with calcium channel blockers, as well as with antacids containing aluminum, since in this case the effectiveness of therapy is reduced.
