The active ingredient is meloxicam, in its pure form, there are no auxiliary components. It is an anti-inflammatory analgesic.
Indications for use are not so broad: Symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, as well as ankylosing spondylitis.
Contraindications need to be taken carefully; there is quite a long track record here: these include children under 15 years of age and pregnant women, and those with exacerbations of stomach disease, and liver and kidney problems. In short, there are many contraindications, the drug is not at all harmless. Elderly patients also need to be on alert.
The method of application is very convenient, once, during meals. At a dosage of 15 mg, this is either a whole tablet or half (as prescribed by a doctor)

Now about the application in a specific case. At the moment, my mother has been taking meloxicam for the third week. Take 1 tablet at night with meals. At night, an improvement became more or less noticeable after 3-4 tablets; in the morning, my hands almost didn’t hurt, they were less numb and my joints almost didn’t ache. And most importantly, my hands stopped swelling, I quickly found a way to bring my mother to clean water, in the morning I suggest that she remove the wedding ring from her finger (she wears it all the time and does not take it off), if she took off the ring right away, it means there is no swelling, if she puffs and groans - This means there is swelling again. BUT meloxicam does not have a prolonged action, that is, if you take the pill you feel relief, but if you don’t take it, the pain is constant. There were no side effects. As my mother says: this is the case when the benefit outweighs the harm)) Finally, we persuaded my mother to take care of her health and not rely on one-time medications, even though the doctor prescribes them. There are X-rays, ultrasounds, tests ahead... We'll wait and see))

In our difficult times, I consider the main advantage of Meloxicam to be its low cost. The price of tablets starts from 32 rubles per pack of 20 pieces (Pranafarm, Russia). The drug made in Israel is somewhat more expensive. I don’t know if it’s really better, but the pharmacy will ask for 150-200 rubles for the medicine (also quite affordable).
At such a low cost, I think there is no point in seriously considering analogues of Meloxicam. Probably, replacing the drug may be necessary only in case of individual intolerance. From people's reviews, I realized that Ibuprofen, Mirlox and classic acetylsalicylic acid have a similar effect.
I will finish my review. I treated the flu with antiviral drugs, but Meloxicam really helped relieve inflammation and relieve symptoms in the acute phase. Now these tablets are always in my home medicine cabinet. Among the disadvantages of the drug, I would like to note its irritating effect on the digestive system, but then I cheated and started taking the tablets with milk, thereby reducing the load on the gastrointestinal tract.
