  • inflammation of the skin in areas requiring treatment with the drug;
  • malignant skin tumors prone to metastasis, in particular malignant melanoma;

  • hypersensitivity to individual components of the drug.

Features of using "Solcoderm"

The drug is used for external use under medical supervision. The medicine is applied to the pathological area of the skin with a special applicator or stick, which is attached to the ampoule with the solution. One side of the applicator, which has a blunt end, is intended for treating large-area growths, and the second part with a sharp end is for small-sized formations.

A glass rod is also included with the medicine - it can be used as an alternative method for treating growths. As a rule, it is usually used to remove formations that have an average period of skin coverage - about 2-3 mm in diameter.

Before using the solution, the treatment area must be wiped with an alcohol solution. Only after this can you very carefully apply the product to the surface of the skin using an applicator or stick so that when pressed, the process of complete absorption of the solution occurs.

Directions for use and dosage

The drug is intended for external use only.

Before applying Solcoderm, the affected area is treated with ether or ethyl alcohol.

Before opening, you need to shake the ampoule and knock down the solution that gets into the upper part of the ampoule.

To apply the drug, use the double-sided plastic applicator included in the kit: use a sharp edge to treat small areas, and a blunt edge to treat large lesions.

You can also use the glass capillary included in the kit to apply the product. It can also be used to treat combined skin lesions with an area of 2–3 cm2. To fill the capillary, it must be immersed in the solution for several minutes.

When applying, special care should be taken to avoid applying too large volumes of Solcoderm. For one application, exactly as much solution should be used as the tissue of the affected area absorbs.

Solcoderm is carefully applied to the affected area using a glass capillary or plastic applicator, after which the solution is evenly distributed over the surface of the area to be treated, lightly pressing on the applicator until the drug completely penetrates the tissue. Over the next 3–5 minutes, it is necessary to carefully observe the changes occurring on the skin: the skin should become discolored and a characteristic pale gray or yellowish tint should appear. If this does not happen, the procedure is repeated.

When treating keratinized warts, you must first remove the top layer of the stratum corneum.

In the presence of numerous foci of skin lesions, treatment is carried out in several stages at intervals of about 4 weeks. During each procedure, no more than 2-3 lesions with a total area of up to 2-3 cm2 can be treated.

To promote fixation and mummification of treated pathologically altered tissues, it is recommended to wipe these areas with a swab moistened with 70% alcohol 2-3 times a day (especially after washing and taking a shower/bath).

In case of unsatisfactory mummification of the pathologically altered tissue, re-treatment with Solcoderm is possible after a few days.

Pharmacological properties of the drug Solcoderm

Combined preparation for external use. After application to the affected area, it penetrates into the treated tissue and after 1–2 minutes causes a change in its color, which reflects the intravital fixation of the tissues of the treated area. Subsequently, the pathological tissue mummifies, the scab darkens and falls off on its own after a few days. Healing occurs quickly. Complications (in the form of secondary infection or scarring) are rare. The development of systemic effects is unlikely.

Side effects

During the procedure, moderate transient redness of the skin and a short-term burning sensation at the application site may be observed, and a white ischemic ring may form on healthy skin around the area treated with the drug. These phenomena do not require special treatment.

If pain occurs, treatment should be interrupted immediately.

If the drug is used incorrectly or overdose, acid burns and damage to deep layers of tissue may occur.

Indications

Local use of the drug is recommended for the removal of benign growths such as:

  • plantar wart;
  • flat and pointed warts;
  • condylomas;
  • papillomas;
  • benign noncellular nevus (birthmarks, moles);
  • dead skin cells (calluses);
  • seborrheic keratosis.

Using the solution, you can remove any benign formations, the formation of which is caused by HPV.

special instructions

Lesions with a diameter of more than 10 mm can be treated with Solcoderm only after an examination confirming the absence of pathological changes in the deep layers of the skin.

Within a few days after the procedure, the treated area of skin becomes dark brown and dries out to form a scab. The scab should fall off on its own; it cannot be removed by scraping or mechanical means, as this can interfere with tissue healing processes and scar formation.

In case of severe irritation and/or severe itching in adjacent areas of the skin, it is recommended to use an anesthetic ointment or cream containing a glucocorticosteroid.

The drug should be applied with extreme caution to the skin of the face, especially to areas around the eyes.

If the solution accidentally gets on healthy skin, it should be removed immediately using a cotton swab moistened with water. If the product gets into the eyes, it is necessary to carry out anti-burn therapy. Drops of solution that get on clothes or furniture are washed off with water.

Particular care must be taken when treating benign skin tumors that have previously been treated with other drugs or methods.

Solcoderm solution is chemically unstable after opening the ampoule, so a new ampoule must be used for each therapeutic procedure.

Until the lesion treated with the drug is completely healed (2–4 months), exposure to ultraviolet radiation and direct sunlight should be avoided.

In case of a biopsy, Solcoderm should be used no earlier than after 8-10 days.

Action of "Solcoderm"

“Solcoderm” ointment, due to the components it contains, is capable of providing several main therapeutic effects , which are as follows:

  • when applied to a problem area of the skin, mummification and devitalization of pathological tissues occurs;
  • the treated area of skin acquires a light shade due to dehydration;
  • neighboring tissues are not affected, since the agent acts specifically on the benign formation;
  • the pathological cells in the area treated with the solution completely die off, after which the skin acquires a characteristic brownish tint;
  • the wound being treated becomes covered with a crust, which disappears on its own after a short period of time;
  • As a result, exposure to Solcoderm does not leave a trace at the site of the wart (papilloma or condyloma).

Solcoderm ointment

The drug Solcoderm, according to the manufacturer’s comments, is available exclusively in the form of a solution. There are simply no other forms of release for this drug. There is a widespread belief that pharmacies sell Solcoderm in the form of ointment, cream, gel and other forms, but this is either a fake or simply a deception of consumers.

The drug contains only acids and no excipients, so it is quite difficult to imagine Solcoderm in the form of an ointment or gel, because acids are absolutely liquid substances.

Solcoderm solution can be used to cauterize various benign neoplasms formed on the human skin. Using this medicine, you can effectively remove genital warts, papillomas, warts caused by the human papillomavirus and other causes. Solcoderm is also often prescribed by dermatologists to remove nevi, manifestations of seborrheic keratosis and other dermatological pathologies.

It is not recommended to use the solution yourself at home, but if you follow the instructions and recommendations of your doctor, it is quite possible. The main thing is to be extremely careful, avoiding acid contact with healthy areas of the skin, which can quickly lead to a chemical burn.

Solcoderm during pregnancy

Analogues of Solcoderm, which have a similar mechanism of action, are also almost all prohibited for use during pregnancy. There is no danger of their overdose; it is simply important to prevent any negative chemicals from entering the blood of the expectant mother.
