Pharmacodynamics

Solcoseryl is a chemically and biologically standardized deproteinized dialysate obtained from the blood of healthy dairy calves by ultrafiltration. Solcoseryl contains a wide range of natural low-molecular compounds weighing up to 5000 Da: glycolipids, nucleosides and nucleotides, amino acids, oligopeptides, trace elements, electrolytes, intermediate products of carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Solcoseryl activates the transport of oxygen and nutrients at the cellular level, increases oxygen consumption by the cell, stimulates ATP synthesis, enhances the proliferation of reversibly damaged cells, especially under hypoxic conditions, thereby accelerating wound healing processes. Solcoseryl stimulates angiogenesis, promotes revascularization of ischemic tissue, as well as the creation of conditions favorable for collagen synthesis and the growth of fresh granulation tissue, accelerates re-epithelialization and wound closure. Solcoseryl also has membrane-stabilizing and cytoprotective effects.

Polidocanol 600 - local anesthetic; acts in the area of peripheral nerve endings, causing their reversible blocking. It has a quick and long-lasting local anesthetic effect. After applying the paste to the oral mucosa, the pain stops within 2–5 minutes; pain relief lasts for 3–5 hours.

Solcoseryl dental adhesive paste forms a protective healing layer on the affected area of the oral mucosa and protects it from mechanical and chemical damage for 3–5 hours, performing the function of a medicinal bandage.

Patient reviews

  • the mass has a high density and granularity, which allows it to be firmly held on the affected area;
  • the paste dissolves on its own, so there is no need to remove it mechanically;
  • the drug begins to act quickly.

Users report the following disadvantages:

  • very high price;
  • difficulty in application;

Directions for use and doses

Locally.

A strip of paste about 0.5 cm long is applied, without rubbing, in a thin layer to the previously dried (with a cotton or gauze swab) affected area of the oral mucosa using a finger or a cotton swab and lightly moisten the applied paste with water. The procedure is repeated 3-5 times a day after meals and before bedtime. Treatment is carried out until symptoms disappear.

When treating bedsores from removable dentures, the paste is applied to a dry denture and moistened with water. The recommended course dose of the drug is 1 tube (5 g).

Analogues in the form of gel and ointment

The adhesive dental “Solcoseryl” does not have complete analogues, but it is quite easy to find drugs with a similar effect.

Ointment "Levomekol"

This combined substitute is a yellow-white ointment that can be used to treat affected gums during periodontal disease (when the disease worsens, they become too loose and soft). Pathological microorganisms enter them, resulting in an inflammatory process.

"Levomekol" is used for applications on damaged surfaces. The oral cavity should first be rinsed with sage decoction or a special anti-inflammatory liquid. Then make a small tourniquet of sterile cotton wool, soak it with a medicinal composition and apply it to the sore spot for several hours. The procedure is carried out twice a day until complete recovery.

Gel "Cholisal"

It is a colorless substance that has the smell of anise oil. The drug often acts as a substitute for Solcoseryl for the treatment of dental ailments, such as stomatitis and abrasions from wearing dentures. The medicine has an enveloping effect and is quickly absorbed. As a result, the inflammatory process is suppressed, pain decreases or completely disappears, and fever is relieved. It also has antifungal properties. It is often prescribed to babies during the period of teething.

Ointment "Methyluracil"

This drug is used as prescribed by a doctor. The ointment has a light yellow color and the ability to stimulate the restoration of damaged tissue.

Gel "Dicloran Denta"

It is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and decongestant drug. It is only used in the hospital. For bleeding gums and loose teeth, the dentist uses a special syringe to inject the gel into problematic dental pockets due to periodontitis. The duration of treatment is also determined by the doctor.

Gel "Metrodent"

The drug is available in the form of a gel-like composition, which is packaged in a tube and is distinguished by various fruit flavors. The dental product is characterized by antiseptic, antimicrobial and antiparasitic properties, which makes it possible to use it for the treatment of periodontal disease. The gel is applied directly to the affected area of the mouth or to the edge of the sore gum. It allows you to eliminate unpleasant symptoms and significantly strengthen the gum tissue.

special instructions

You should not put Solcoseryl dental adhesive paste into the wound cavity formed as a result of the removal of molars, wisdom teeth, as well as apicotomy (resection of the apex of the tooth), if the edges of the tooth socket are tightened with subsequent sutures.

Solcoseryl dental adhesive paste does not contain anti-infective components. In case of acute infection of the affected area of the oral mucosa, which is subject to treatment with this drug, it is necessary to carry out preliminary medical treatment/treatment of the affected area aimed at eliminating the symptoms of inflammation.

Contraindications –

The only contraindication is hypersensitivity to one of the components of the drug. Solcoseryl "Denta" is not contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It should be used with caution only if you have severe allergic reactions. The drug contains a residual amount of parahydroxybenzoic acid (E 210), which is important to take into account in patients with allergic reactions to this component.

Allergic reactions usually develop in the form of slight swelling at the site of application of the drug. In this case, you must stop using the drug and also take an antihistamine tablet. Also, an allergic reaction may be indicated by a burning sensation at the site of application of the drug. Moreover, a slight burning sensation (which goes away almost immediately after application) does not require discontinuation of the drug. The latter is necessary only if the burning sensation is permanent.

Dentists' opinion

Dental paste is best suited for protecting the oral cavity from various types of damage, since after application this product forms a kind of “protective bandage”. The use of this paste is also recommended for alveolitis, developed ulcers, and in the postoperative period. When treating stomatitis and bedsores caused by wearing dentures, it is more convenient to use gel and ointment.

Dentists in Moscow and other regions of Russia have come to a unanimous opinion: the products of the Solcoseryl line promote wound healing, effectively protect tissue from damage and have a powerful analgesic, angioprotective, and regenerative effect.

Paste price, storage conditions

Solcoseryl paste is one of the currently available remedies for the treatment of oral diseases. It is offered in pharmacies at a price of 320-350 rubles . If necessary, it can be purchased via the Internet by going to special sites that sell pharmacological drugs. It doesn’t really matter which pharmacy you buy the paste from, since their prices differ slightly.

Solcoseryl paste can be used for 4 years after opening the tube. After the expiration date, the drug cannot be used, so before you decide to buy it at the pharmacy, be sure to find out the release date.

Follow the rules for storing the paste: you can keep it at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C in places that exclude access to children.

Side effects and overdose

Solcoseryl ointment is usually accepted normally by the body, but in some people with particularly high sensitivity it can provoke an allergic response. It usually manifests itself in the form of local swelling. As a rule, the condition does not require special treatment, as it resolves spontaneously after stopping use. The patient should consult a specialist about the further treatment regimen.

In addition, dental ointment can affect the perception of taste. The side effect does not pose a threat to well-being, but causes discomfort.

The manufacturer has not provided information on whether or not the dental gel can cause an overdose. But given that Solcoseryl for gums is used topically, intoxication is practically impossible with this method of therapy.

It is believed that a person's condition may worsen after ingesting large amounts. If accidental or intentional ingestion of a drug leads to undesirable reactions, the patient should do exactly the same as in case of any poisoning: rinse the stomach or induce vomiting, take adsorbent drugs, and consult a doctor.
