  • Active ingredient: Tilorone dihydrochloride. Bioavailability is 60%, and the half-life is 48 hours. The drug Tiloron is available without a doctor's prescription!

    Composition and dosage forms

    Tiloron tablets are an immunostimulating agent that actively fights the introduction and spread of viruses into the human body. The release form and composition of the medication are reflected in the instructions for its use. This drug contains the main active ingredient called tilorone dihydrochloride.

    There are two known dosage forms of this drug:

    1. Tablets that have a surface coating with a special protective coating. The core of the drug consists of a substance with an orange tint. Tablets can be on blisters, their number varies from 6 to 30 pieces. Each tablet contains 60, 125 mg of tilorone dihydrochloride, as well as a number of auxiliary components (cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, macrogol and others).
    2. Capsules in a gelatin shell containing granules and orange powder inside. The instructions describe the composition of the 150 mg capsule as follows: 125 mg of tilorone, as well as auxiliary calcium stearate, cellulose, gelatin, dye, copovidone, titanium dioxide.

    pharmachologic effect

    The pharmacological properties of Tiloron include the ability to fight viruses, as well as stimulate the immune system. The drug belongs to the group of synthetic low-molecular interferon inducers.

    Tiloron stimulates the production of interferons of different types (alpha, gamma, beta, lambda) by such objects as intestinal epithelial cells, granulocytes, neutrophils, hepatocytes, T-lymphocytes.

    Oral administration of the drug quickly leads to maximum induction of protective antibodies. First they appear in the intestines, then in the liver and, a little later, in blood cells. The first interferons begin to be produced within 4 hours, the last ones, a day after using the drug.

    A single daily dose of Tiloron leads to the appearance of the maximum amount of lambda interferons in the lung tissues within 24 hours. Alpha interferons are fixed after 2 days. Both types of protective antibodies increase the body's ability to defend against viral effects, which is very important during the spread of influenza and other viral respiratory infections.

    Tiloron

    Tiloron features:

    • synthesis of interferon by leukocytes of the human body;
    • stimulation of brain stem cell activity;
    • enhancing the formation of antibodies that can reduce the level of immunosuppression and restore equality in the number of existing T-suppressors and T-helpers;
    • inhibition of the translation of viral proteins in the cellular structure, which stops the reproduction of viruses.

    The medication is highly effective against various infections:

    • herpes;
    • flu;
    • parainfluenza;
    • hepatitis;
    • rhinovirus;
    • adenovirus;
    • syncytial infection;
    • other ARVI.

    After capsules or tablets penetrate the gastrointestinal tract, their rapid absorption by the intestinal walls can be observed. The bioavailability of the active substance is at the level of 60%, and about 80% of the drug is bound to blood proteins.

    The time taken for the drug to not be completely eliminated from the body is two days. This process occurs through the intestines, through which 70% of the drug is released, and through the kidneys (about 9% of the substance).

    Tiloron does not have the ability to accumulate in the body; it is also not subject to biotransformation.

    Special instructions:

    1. The instructions do not contain comprehensive data on the effect of the drug on the reaction rate, so the patient can take the medicine while simultaneously driving a vehicle and working with complex instruments.
    2. High doses of Tiloron are prohibited due to the high risk of short-term depletion of immune cells.

    Analogs

    Structural analogues include: Activiron, Amiksin, Lavomax, Tilaksin, Tiloram. The drug Tiloram is an analogue often prescribed to patients as a replacement for Tiloron. Without accumulating in the body, Tiloram tablets also do not undergo biotransformation and are eliminated within 48 hours. The high compatibility of the components of the drug with other forms of drugs allows Tiloram to be used in the treatment of viral infections of various etiologies.

    The differences are in expiration dates and price:

    1. Tiloron is good for 2 years, the price starts from $10 and is not often found in pharmacies.
    2. Tiloram is good for 3 years, starts at $8, and is a popular over-the-counter drug.

    Pharmacy kiosks mainly offer Tiloram Ozone; the instructions for use do not recommend treatment for children under 18 years of age. Basically, the restrictions, release form and indications are identical to those presented above. The price of the drug is from $11.

    Side effects

    Side effects and contraindications to the use of the drug are reflected in the instructions included with each package. As a rule, patients tolerate such therapy quite comfortably; very rarely some negative manifestations may develop.

    Side effects:

    • allergic rash;
    • chills that occur for a short time;
    • development of dyspeptic disorders.

    There have been no cases of Tiloron overdose recorded in medical practice.

    Compatibility with other drugs

    Tiloron is recommended by specialists for use as part of complex therapy. It can be combined with antibacterial compounds, as well as other symptomatic medications, often used to alleviate the condition of patients with viral and bacterial infections.

    There are analogues of this drug on the pharmaceutical market:

    • Amiksin;
    • Aktavin;
    • Lavomax;
    • Tiloram;
    • Tilorone dihydrochloride.

    Only a specialist with sufficient qualifications and the ability to assess the benefits and risks of using the medication in a particular person can select a drug suitable for treating or preventing the development of a viral infection.

    Despite the fact that Tiloron has high antiviral activity, using it alone to prevent the development of viral infections is, to say the least, ineffective. To prevent infection, it is very important to adhere to reasonable preventive measures, avoid crowded places, and also observe personal hygiene rules.
