  • Release form and composition

    The release form of Urodan is granules (in plastic jars of 100 g).

    1000 mg of granules contain the following biologically active substances:

    • methenamine – 3 mg;
    • piperazine – 25 mg;
    • bearberry (in the form of leaf extract) – 26 mg.

    Auxiliary components: sugar – 19 mg, tartaric acid – 356 mg, disodium phosphate – 375 mg.

    Composition of the drug

    The active substances contained in the drug are the following:

    • bearberry leaf extract;
    • piperazine;
    • urotropin.

    The additional components are disodium phosphate and tartaric acid.

    Composition and release form

    Urodan is produced in the form of white granules, easily soluble in water.

    The medicinal mixture Urodan includes 2.5 parts of piperazine phosphate, 2.5 parts of sodium benzoate, 8 parts of methenamine, 2 parts of lithium benzoate or citrate, 37.5 parts of sodium bicarbonate, 10 parts of disubstituted sodium phosphate, 37.5 parts of tartaric acid and 1 .9 g sugar. In addition, Urodan also contains a dry, highly concentrated standardized extract from the leaves of the bearberry plant.

    Component Properties

    Bearberry leaves, which are part of Urodan in the form of a dry, highly concentrated standardized extract, are among the natural antiseptics, due to which the dietary supplement has an anti-inflammatory, diuretic and disinfectant effect.

    Cleansing the urinary tract from bacterial flora and inflammatory products is due to arbutin and tannins contained in Urodane.

    The antimicrobial properties of the dietary supplement are associated with the glycoside arbutin, which breaks down into free hydroquinone and glucose.

    The antiseptic properties of Urodan are determined by the local irritant and antimicrobial effect of hydroquinone. When it is excreted through the kidneys, irritation of the kidney tissue is observed, and increased urination also occurs. Thanks to hydroquinone, the activity of redox reactions increases. It has a significant effect on the following processes: metabolism, oxygen absorption by tissues, blood levels of potassium, glucose, glutathione, reduction of diabetic ketoacidosis.

    The therapeutic effect of Urodan is enhanced by the specific action of hydrolysis products and tannins. In low concentrations, tannins block the growth of most microorganisms; in high concentrations, they act as antibacterial agents, which leads to the death of microbes.

    Pharmacodynamics

    A drug. containing a combination of active substances. When piperazine salts and Li+ with uric acid , easily soluble salts are formed, which are excreted in the urine. At the same time, the urine becomes alkalized.

    The extract of bearberry leaves contains the glycoside arbutin , which, under the enzymatic action of arbutase , breaks down into glucose and hydroquinone . Hydroquinone enhances redox processes, has an irritating effect, affects metabolism and oxygen saturation of tissues, normalizes the concentration of glucose , potassium and glutathione , and also reduces the level of ketoacidosis in diabetes . The drug contains tannins that affect the pathogenic flora of the urinary tract and helps cleanse the products of inflammation.

    Pharmacokinetics

    piperazine and lithium salts, uric acid is transformed into easily soluble compounds and excreted through the kidneys.

    Mechanism of action

    Thanks to bearberry leaf extract, the drug has an anti-inflammatory effect. Arbutin contained in the plant has a diuretic effect on the body, which has a beneficial effect on kidney function. In addition, bearberry has an antimicrobial effect, which makes it difficult for microbes to multiply.

    Urodan is recommended to be taken as an additional remedy in conjunction with the treatment of kidney stones, gout, chronic polyarthritis, and also as an independent remedy for preventive purposes against the development of such diseases. This occurs as a result of the ability of Urodane's tannins to inhibit the proliferation of microbes and slow down their growth.

    Pharmacological properties of Urodan

    Analogs of Urodan, like the drug itself, have anti-inflammatory, disinfectant and diuretic effects. Urodan granules contain a large amount of arbutin and tannins, which cleanse the urinary tract of inflammatory products and pathogenic flora. Arbutin glycoside, which is found in bearberry leaf extract, breaks down into free hydroquinone and glucose. This process occurs with the participation of the enzyme arbutase.

    Hydroquinone has a local irritant and antimicrobial effect, promoting increased activity of redox processes, affects tissue absorption of oxygen and metabolism, has a regulating effect on the concentration of glucose, potassium, glutathione, and helps reduce ketoacidosis in diabetes.

    Hydroquinone is excreted along with urine through the kidneys, which irritates the kidney tissue, resulting in increased urination. The tannins contained in Urodane block the growth of most microbes and prevent their reproduction.

    According to reviews of Urodan, the drug also has an anti-gout effect. Lithium salts and piperazine, due to interaction with uric acid, are converted into readily soluble compounds that are excreted from the body in the urine. In this case, the pH of urine shifts to the alkaline side.

    People's opinion

    Reviews in the medical field and from buyers vary. Some did not experience any results or effects from the course they took, but Urodan helped others well.

    Reviews from doctors:

    It should be borne in mind that the treatment of any inflammatory process, gout or urolithiasis requires a long period.

    The treatment course includes taking medications, and any physiotherapeutic procedures, dietary nutrition and other methods according to the indications and characteristics of the disease and the general condition of the patient. The dietary supplement Urodan is in most cases recommended as an adjuvant to the main treatment.

    This is a good proven remedy. Before use, be sure to consult with your doctor who knows your medical history. This is important to avoid side effects.

    Arkady Ivanovich, doctor

    It is known that increased levels of uric acid affect the formation of stones and the development of related diseases. The drug Urodan shows positive results in the treatment of gout and urolithiasis, removing excess acid.

    In addition, chronic diseases require regular use of medications as a preventive measure against relapse of symptoms. Urodane is quite suitable for such purposes.

    After taking Urodan, your overall health improves and the likelihood of relapse decreases.

    Elena Alekseevna, doctor

    Patient reviews:

    I took a course of Urodan for the treatment of gout for more than a month. I didn’t notice any changes for the better or any effect. The main thing is that there were no side effects, which is also pleasing.

    Alexey, 48 years old

    People, the treatment of any disease should be comprehensive and you should not expect a miracle from taking this drug, especially a dietary supplement. She was treating gout and taking Urodan in combination with other medications prescribed by the doctor. Inflammation has decreased and health has improved.

    Svetlana, 57 years old

    A good drug, no side effects, easy to drink, quite pleasant, the instructions clearly explain how to use it. However, it is very difficult to get it; it is no longer sold in city pharmacies (the first time I bought it at a pharmacy). Tell me where can I buy it?

    Vladislav, 32 years old

    Pros and cons according to patient reviews

    Most patients who took Urodan report positive results and good effects after completing the course. It was noticed that small stones gradually dissolved by the end of the course of taking the drug.

    Among the disadvantages of patients, you can hear about the occurrence of adverse reactions. In this case, you should remember that there are contraindications to taking the drug.

    Reviews about Urodan

    Reviews about the drug vary. Some patients complain of a lack of effect.

    “... I used the medicine Urodan to treat gout. I practically didn’t notice any results and despite the advertising, the miracle didn’t happen.”

    Other patients report significant improvement in well-being and reduction in inflammation. In all likelihood, many patients simply do not understand that treating gout is a long process and the use of Urodan does not exhaust the entire arsenal of drugs. In addition, in addition to medications, one should not forget about physiotherapy, spa treatment, and diet therapy.
