Noopept – reviews from neurologists, Noopept instructions for use, Noopept price, Noopept description

Indications

Noopept is indicated for a fairly large number of conditions:

  • impairments of cognitive functions of various origins;
  • emotional-volitional disorders (including in the elderly);
  • consequences of traumatic brain injury (brain contusion, diffuse axonal damage);
  • post-concussion syndrome;
  • discirculatory encephalopathy, encephalopathy of combined genesis (with the presence of a vascular component);
  • asthenia;
  • decrease in intellectual activity of various origins.

Noopept

Noopept® has nootropic and neuroprotective properties. Improves learning ability and memory, acting on all phases of processing: initial information processing, consolidation, retrieval. Prevents the development of amnesia caused by electric shock, blockade of central cholinergic structures, glutamatergic receptor systems, and deprivation of the paradoxical phase of sleep.

The neuroprotective (protective) effect of the drug Noopept® is manifested in increasing the resistance of brain tissue to damaging influences (trauma, hypoxia, electroconvulsive, toxic) and reducing the degree of damage to brain neurons. The drug reduces the volume of the lesion in a thrombotic stroke model and prevents the death of neurons in cultured tissue of the cerebral cortex and cerebellum exposed to neurotoxic concentrations of glutamate and free radical oxygen.

Noopept® has an antioxidant effect, blocks voltage-dependent calcium channels of neurons, weakening the neurotoxic effect of excess calcium, improves the rheological properties of the blood, having antiplatelet, fibrinolytic, and anticoagulant properties.

The nootropic effect of the drug is associated with the formation of cycloprolylglycine, which is similar in structure to the endogenous cyclic dipeptide, which has antiamnestic activity, as well as the presence of a choline-positive effect.

Noopept® increases the amplitude of the transcallosal response, facilitating associative connections between the cerebral hemispheres at the level of cortical structures.

Promotes the restoration of memory and other cognitive functions impaired as a result of damaging influences - brain injury, local and global ischemia, prenatal damage (alcohol, hypoxia).

The therapeutic effect of the drug in patients with organic disorders of the central nervous system manifests itself starting from the 5-7th day of treatment. Initially, the anxiolytic and mild stimulating effects present in the spectrum of activity of the drug Noopept® are realized, manifested in the reduction or disappearance of anxiety, increased irritability, affective lability, and sleep disturbances. After 14-20 days of therapy, a positive effect of the drug on cognitive functions, parameters of attention and memory is revealed.

Noopept® has a vegetative-normalizing effect, helps reduce headaches, orthostatic disorders, and tachycardia. When you stop taking the drug, no withdrawal syndrome is observed.

Does not have a damaging effect on internal organs; does not lead to changes in the cellular composition of the blood and biochemical parameters of blood and urine; does not have immunotoxic, teratogenic effects, does not exhibit mutagenic properties.

Pharmacokinetics

Suction and distribution

N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester, absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, enters the systemic circulation unchanged. Penetrates the BBB and is detected in the brain in higher concentrations than in the blood. The average time to reach Cmax is 15 minutes.

Metabolism and excretion

T1/2 from blood plasma - 0.38 hours. Partially stored unchanged, partially metabolized with the formation of phenylacetic acid, phenylacetylproline and cycloprolylglycine. It has high relative bioavailability (99.7%), does not accumulate in the body, and does not cause drug dependence.

In addition, many patients report improved mood when taking the drug and normalization of sleep.

Many people are attracted to Noopept by its safety: the absence of withdrawal symptoms, compatibility with other medications, lack of drowsiness and minimal side effects.

Reviews from neurologists

Noopept has positive reviews from neurologists. Neurologists note that Noopept has a complex effect, a high safety profile, and a low incidence of side effects.

The drug, according to them, effectively improves cognitive functions, eliminates dizziness, absent-mindedness, and improves memory.

Doctors note the wide possibilities of using the drug: it is prescribed to people with various neurological disorders, as well as to those who simply want to improve memory and attention under unfavorable conditions.

Is it worth buying Noopept?

Unfortunately, many Russians are accustomed to diagnosing and prescribing treatment on their own, while in the West they will only sell you vitamins without a doctor’s prescription. Noopept is an antipsychotic, and it is up to your doctor to decide whether you should take it or not.

Perhaps it will be enough for you to take a course of the drug “Glycine” to feel that your brain has begun to work with renewed vigor. It is also possible that your illness is severe enough that you need other, stronger medications.

Instructions for use and contraindications for treatment

I received dosage recommendations from my doctor. In my case, to obtain the desired effect, the specialist allowed me to take 3 Noopept tablets per day (usually it is recommended to limit myself to two). The medicine does not need to be chewed, just washed down with plain water. It is important to understand that you will not see immediate results. The course lasts 1-3 months. Sometimes therapy is extended for a longer period.

Noopept, like any medicine, has a number of contraindications. Restrictions on use apply to people suffering from:

  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
  • diseases characterized by malfunctions of the kidneys and liver;
  • lactase deficiency;
  • dysfunctions of the cardiovascular system (I read in reviews that Noopept increases blood pressure).

Also in the description of nootropic tablets it was written that it is better to refrain from stimulating the brain during pregnancy and breastfeeding. So women, be careful!

How I found out about Noopept

I first read about nootropic tablets in a feature article on the Internet. I became interested and started looking for more information and reviews about such drugs. It turns out that “brain stimulants” are quite popular among people experiencing neurological difficulties. Doctors often recommend such medications for the prevention of stroke and other acute conditions associated with blood vessels.

I read a lot of articles and became interested. After the accident, I had trouble remembering. Nothing major, but my memory has clearly gotten worse. I went to see a neurologist and the specialist confirmed that this deterioration of the brain could be corrected.

“Take a course of Noopept.
A good medicine for rehabilitation after a concussion. In your case, the drug should increase blood circulation, thereby improving the functions of the body’s “computer center”. The main thing is to carefully monitor the body’s reaction to treatment, and if you come for a consultation, we will select analogues” Sergey Anatolyevich, neurologist, Moscow

After this recommendation, I bought a package of Noopept at the pharmacy. No one asked for a prescription, so I think the medicine does not belong to narcotic substances or “doping”.

How to improve memory without drugs

The cognitive functions of the brain are very fragile and memory deterioration can depend on many factors; memory is negatively affected by chronic lack of sleep, constant stress, bad habits, including smoking and drinking alcohol, and various somatic diseases.

To help yourself using feasible methods you need:

  • organize a work and rest schedule,
  • lead a healthy lifestyle, which includes physical activity and proper nutrition,
  • be sure to get 8 hours of sleep at night,
  • favorable psychological atmosphere.

You can also try mnemonics and other ways to improve memory: learning languages, solving crosswords, memorizing prose.

The drug "Noopept": instructions, reviews from doctors

Doctors note the following positive characteristics of the drug in question:

  • the drug "Noopept" is non-toxic;
  • When conducting studies on animals, even with a twenty-fold increase in the dose of the drug, no damage to internal organs was observed;
  • the drug is well tolerated by the body and enters the bloodstream unchanged.

As you can see, these characteristics are positive. However, most often doctors use the drug “Noopept” as an addition to the complex treatment of any diseases or prescribe it to prevent memory impairment. That is, it is impossible to say directly that it was the drug “Noopept” that helped eliminate a certain ailment indicated in the indications for use. Moreover, the line of nootropic drugs includes more potent drugs that are sold in pharmacies only with a doctor’s prescription.

One way or another, experts strongly do not recommend taking Noopept in dosages higher than those indicated in the instructions. This will not make it work any better, and since the drug has a direct effect on brain activity, the risk of side effects like the aforementioned fogginess or blurred vision is quite high.

Contraindications for use, possible side effects

The following group of people should not use this product or should only use it under the supervision of a physician. So, the medication is usually not prescribed:

  • pregnant and lactating women;
  • persons under 18 years of age;
  • patients who may have allergies due to hypersensitivity to individual components of the drug (including people with lactose intolerance);
  • those who have been diagnosed with severe kidney or liver dysfunction.

Side effects from taking Noopept are quite rare, but it is noted that during treatment, allergies may occur, and in certain groups of people (especially the elderly), blood pressure sometimes rises. There have been no cases of overdose, but if this does occur, treatment should be symptomatic.

Use of the drug to treat persons under 18 years of age

So is it possible to give Noopept to children? Reviews and opinions of doctors about this are different. The manufacturer indicates that this drug is non-toxic, so it is unlikely to harm such a young body. In the near future, they plan to conduct a series of studies, based on the results of which the company may register this drug for the treatment of children as well. In the meantime, there is no official data on whether the medicine “Noopept” can be used by children and schoolchildren, or in what dosage this should be done.

Remember that no research has been conducted on this matter, and if you decide (even with a doctor) to use the product to treat your baby, you do so at your own peril and risk. And the consequences of therapy can be completely unpredictable.

Reviews of the drug for the brain

I will write a little about the reputation of the drug among ordinary people. Customer reviews have been good. Almost everyone praised Noopept for its quick effect and gentle effect on the brain. I was a little surprised by the popularity of tablets among knowledge workers, but this is probably logical.

“I was preparing to defend my diploma. Maybe I was nervous or just nervous, but suddenly it became very difficult to remember information. Even my supervisor noticed this. I went to the pharmacy for vitamins, and the pharmacist recommended Noopept. After just 2 days I felt that my head was finally working at 100% of its capacity)))”

There were also negative reviews regarding the price. Some people wrote that there are similar drugs, but at a lower cost. I didn't take the risk and try other pills. I think the doctor knows better.

“Instead of Noopept, you can safely buy the same Glycine. I specifically took both drugs for comparison. The effect is the same..."

There are different situations. If you just stimulate the brain a little, then perhaps any nootropic tablets will do. My neurologist prescribed a remedy for solving a specific problem (rehabilitation after an injury), so I was afraid to experiment.

Dosage

The instructions for use indicate that treatment usually begins with a dosage of 20 mg (2 tablets), the daily dose is divided into 2 doses - in the morning and during the day. The tablet is taken after meals with water. If the doctor sees that this amount of medication is ineffective for the patient, then it is not forbidden to increase the dosage and bring it to 30 mg. In this case, Noopept is taken 3 times a day, one tablet. However, it is not recommended to use the drug after 18 hours, as it can cause insomnia.

Typically, the course of treatment with the drug in question lasts from 1.5 to 3 months. Afterwards, take a break for 1 month, and if necessary, repeat the therapy again. The drug "Noopept", which has good reviews from doctors, is contraindicated for persons under 18 years of age. But many are wondering whether it can be used to treat children. For example, middle-aged and older schoolchildren often suffer from attention problems, their learning ability decreases - that is, all the indications are available that are sufficient for the use of medicine.
