Price issue

Every time you are prescribed a drug, you wonder how much it will cost you. Many employees of Russian pharmacies say that the patient often begins to choose a cheaper substitute for the drug prescribed to him. However, there are situations when this should not be done, because a cheaper analogue does not always have the same effect as the original drug, and if you take a cheap analogue, the consequences for you may be sad.

Reviews about Remantadine

Remantadine tablets - what are they taken for?

This is an antiviral drug that suppresses the replication of the virus. It is a “long-liver” on the antiviral drug market - it has been used since 1975. Its preventive use is effective during influenza epidemics in closed groups, as reported in many reviews. However, in recent years, the majority of influenza A viruses (up to 50%) have acquired resistance to this drug, so it has lost its relevance. It is not effective against other respiratory viral diseases and the A/H1N1 virus , which causes pandemics, is resistant to it. In this connection, the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation does not recommend the use of Remantadine during the pandemic period.

The sensitivity of viruses to class II drugs remains: oseltamivir , zanamivir , peramivir . Class III drugs ( aprotinin , camostat) have appeared recently and occupy a leading position in the treatment of influenza.

Reviews of Remantadine also include its use for weight loss. This is based on the fact that one of the side effects of the drug is a decrease in appetite, even anorexia . It should be noted that the indications for use of Remantadine do not include its use for this purpose. The presence of side effects, including kidney and liver damage, neuropsychiatric disorders (in 45.5% of cases), anemia , does not justify its use for weight loss. So you can pay a high price for lost kilograms.

special instructions

During treatment with Remantadine, there is a possibility of exacerbation of concomitant chronic diseases. In elderly people with arterial hypertension, the risk of developing hemorrhagic stroke increases; in patients with a history of epilepsy or simultaneously receiving anticonvulsant therapy, the risk of developing an epileptic seizure increases. In the latter case, the daily dose of rimantadine should not exceed 100 mg.

Prophylactic use of the drug is effective in cases of high risk of disease during an influenza epidemic, contacts with sick people, or the spread of infection in closed groups.

For influenza caused by virus B, rimantadine has an antitoxic effect. Viruses resistant to the drug may emerge.

Due to the likelihood of developing side effects from the central nervous system during treatment, it is recommended to exercise caution when driving vehicles and performing potentially dangerous types of work that require increased attention and high speed of mental and/or physical reactions.
