Akriderm is an ointment or cream containing the hormone betamethasone and excipients. The product is used 1-3 times a day for skin itching, dermatitis, eczema, sunburn, redness, psoriasis, some types of lichen, and thrush. You need to be treated from 10 days to 1 month.
The ointment relieves inflammation and pain, eliminates swelling, relieves fluid secretion, excessive keratinization and rashes. The drug can be used from 1 year of age, but for children only as prescribed by a doctor. It is advisable for an adult patient to visit a specialist, since Akriderm has contraindications: skin tuberculosis, chickenpox, syphilis, trophic ulcer. The product should not be used by pregnant or lactating women.
Mechanism of action
Akriderm belongs to the category of glucocorticosteroids. The drug is available in the form of an ointment or cream. The compositions of such products differ, but the effectiveness in many respects is the same. The main component in Akriderm is betamethasone dipropionate. Additional substances may be paraffin, petroleum jelly, purified water, sodium sulfite, emulsifying wax or petroleum jelly.
Action of the drug:
- anti-inflammatory effect;
- antiseptic property;
- elimination of allergic skin reactions;
- antibacterial effect;
- relief from skin itching;
- antifungal effect.
The components that make up Akriderm ointment stop the process of accumulation of leukocytes in the affected areas of the epidermis.
Simultaneously with this action, skin itching and signs of inflammatory processes are eliminated. Akriderm Genta and GK contain a broad-spectrum antibiotic - gentamicin. This component has a detrimental effect on bacteria of various types. The effect of using creams and ointments occurs after the first procedures.

Efficiency
For a number of mycoses (especially the nail and foot), treatment with Akriderm or its GK variety takes 30 days or longer. But candidiasis is caused by a fungus - an organic participant in the microflora of the skin, mouth and genital tract.
It is activated only when it is imbalanced, and is neither independent (always accompanies antibiotic therapy, immunodeficiency, diabetes), nor a pathology at all (normally its presence is not dangerous).
There is no need to completely get rid of it (reinfection in the coming months is guaranteed, since 99% of the Earth's population has the pathogen). And therapy for its exacerbation on average requires 8-14 days of use of the drug.
Methods of application
The average duration of use of Akriderm is from two to four weeks. The course of treatment can be adjusted by a specialist depending on the type of disease present and the stage of its development.
Any variety of this drug is used for external use only. The product is applied to the affected areas of the skin in a thin layer and lightly rubbed into the epidermis.
Application nuances:
- the course of treatment for facial skin diseases should not exceed five days;
- Children under 12 years of age can use the drug only with the advice of a specialist;
- uncontrolled use of cream or ointment can provoke an allergic skin reaction;
- the drug (SA and HA) should be applied to the affected areas of the skin twice a day;
- The product should not be applied to the skin around the eyes, large areas of the skin should not be treated, and it should not be allowed to come into contact with mucous membranes.

Reviews
The real need for Akriderm GK exists for thrush complicated by diabetes mellitus, secondary infection or immunodeficiency. In other cases, folk or mono-medicines are sufficient.
Despite this and the typical “hormonal” side effects, including hirsutism, patients who have used the drug speak rather positively about it, noting its high effectiveness, thanks to which a relapse of candidiasis can be extinguished in up to a week.
Lika, 23 years old: “It’s a pity that you can’t smear Akriderm on the vagina - the itching bothers me most of all. Plus, if it’s not oral candidiasis, the main breeding ground is in it... I endure this attack once every 3-4 months, when the season and weather change. It’s not that my thrush is severe, but I’m afraid of infecting my daughter (she’s little, she’s only five years old, and she certainly can’t use such remedies). So you have to poison yourself locally and harshly. I’ve already used the cream twice, and my mustache hasn’t grown back yet. I think I’ll take it for the next exacerbation.”
Asya, 36 years old: “For a diabetic with type 2 like me, such mixed and local preparations are an irreplaceable thing. It’s touching when they say “keep your skin microflora normal and you will be happy”! A diabetic will not have it, if by happiness we mean something better than peeling, the threat of erosion from scratch and eternal dysbiosis. I use Akriderm because in my microflora, like in a handbag, you can find anything, except for crocodile. If I use it for 3-7 days, I personally don’t experience hyperglycemia - at most, plus a couple of units on the glucometer, but they can be attributed to any factors, this does not necessarily spoil the drug.”
Fedor, 44 years old: “I didn’t know (it’s not written in the instructions, in my opinion) and foolishly applied the cream to all the necessary areas, including the head of the penis. But nothing like this happened - maybe because I was treated for only 3 days, until the itching went away... A good drug, I must say. I still have prostatitis (I caught it as a “load” of gonorrhea several years ago, I cured gonorrhea a long time ago). So he calmed down from Akriderm for a month - I’m not kidding! And this despite the fact that where is the prostate and where is the cream.”
special instructions

Under no circumstances should you allow even a small amount of ointment or cream to get into your eyes. If rinsing does not solve the problem, you should immediately contact a medical facility.
Other features:
- Akriderm cannot be used for long-term treatment of facial skin;
- The duration of use of the drug for skin folds should be limited.
Akriderm ointment - hormonal or not? Yes, the drug belongs to glucocorticosteroids.
For thrush
Thrush is a fungal disease that affects the genitals and causes intense itching and profuse, curd-like discharge. The use of ointment not only relieves symptoms, but also gets rid of the causative agent of the disease. Akriderm is prescribed for thrush for both women and men.
Akriderm should be applied to the affected area 2-3 times a day for 2 days. If after this there is no improvement in the condition, then the product should be replaced. Extending the course for thrush is extremely rarely prescribed, since this is not considered an effective measure, and can only provoke the appearance of a drug-resistant fungus.
General characteristics of the external preparation
Akriderm SK belongs to glucocorticosteroid ointments due to the inclusion of the main active substance called betamethasone (synthetic hormone). This substance performs the following functions:
- Relieves inflammation;
- Reduces or completely stops an allergic reaction;
- Reduces the permeability of blood vessels, thereby reducing the release of fluid from places of inflammation;
- Reduces swelling of tissues at the site of skin lesions;
- Relieves and completely eliminates symptoms of itching.
A distinctive feature of Akriderm SK from other products of the line of the same name is the presence of salicylic acid, which is part of the group of keratolytics. Their function is to soften the surface of the skin and exfoliate rough tissues formed due to the accelerated process of cell division due to deformations in the dermis.
The external product Akriderm SK is available only in the form of an ointment and does not have an analogue in the form of a cream, as is presented in other products of the Akriderm line.
Available in tubes of 15 and 30 grams, which is convenient when prescribing different courses of duration. A small tube is enough for a five-day treatment. If the therapy is long-term, three or more weeks, it is more profitable to buy a larger package.
