Composition of the drug and properties of components

Kratal tablets contain the amino acid taurine and extracts of medicinal plants that have a pronounced cardiotropic effect. This means that motherwort and hawthorn in the composition of the drug affect the functioning of the heart; they are used in cardiological practice.

Hawthorn has the following properties:

  • increases blood flow in the coronary and cerebral arteries;
  • increases the reaction of the heart muscle to glycosides (Celanide, Digoxin, Strophanthin), which allows you to reduce their dose and prevent intoxication;
  • activates the contractile function of the myocardium and reduces excitability;
  • protects against the destructive effects of free radicals;
  • restores normal depth and duration of sleep.

Thick motherwort extract contains sedatives that inhibit the central nervous system by slowing the transfer of sodium ions across the cell membrane. In addition, under the influence of the plant, the breakdown of gamma-aminobutyric acid, which has a pronounced relaxing effect, is reduced.

Studies of the effect of taurine on basic life processes have led to the discovery of the following pharmacological effects in this amino acid:

  • ensures the maintenance of energy reserves in the myocardium;
  • increases the contractility of the muscle fibers of the heart;
  • reduces the toxic effect of cardiac glycosides;
  • inhibits the release of adrenaline and other similar compounds, accelerates their decay;
  • blocks receptors of the sympathetic nervous system (alpha-blocker);
  • dilates blood vessels;
  • improves blood flow (antiplatelet agent);
  • prevents the formation of cholesterol and activates its elimination;
  • reduces high blood sugar in diabetes;
  • protects liver cells from damage due to alcohol intoxication;
  • normalizes blood circulation in the brain;
  • stimulates thinking processes, memory;
  • eliminates neuroses and autonomic dysfunction.

We recommend reading about hawthorn for the heart. Kratal

Name: Cratal Pharmacological action: Cratal is a herbal preparation that has a mild antianginal, cardiotonic, antioxidant, antiarrhythmic, antiplatelet and antihypoxic effect. Kratal is able to inhibit lipid peroxidation processes, kallikrein-kinin and renin-angiotensin systems, and also have a positive effect on cAMP production. When used, Kratal reduces blood pressure, improves the pumping and contractile functions of the myocardium, improves blood supply to the heart muscle and its functional state, and normalizes heart rate. The drug has a calming, neuroprotective effect (relieves irritability, eliminates mood lability), increases performance, and also reduces the manifestations of intoxication with cardiac glycosides. Kratal is distributed evenly in body fluids and tissues, almost completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Most of the drug is excreted by the kidneys and urine. The half-life of Kratal is 6-8 hours.

Indications for use: Kratal is used in the treatment of neurocirculatory dystonia, as well as as part of complex therapy for post-radiation syndrome and chronic ischemic heart disease.

Directions for use: Kratal is taken three times a day, 1-2 tablets before meals, for a course of up to 4 weeks.

Side effects: When taking Kratal, dyspeptic disorders and hypersensitivity phenomena may occur.

Contraindications: Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Pregnancy: There is no data on the use of Kratal during pregnancy.

Interaction with other drugs: Kratal is able to potentiate the antianginal effect of calcium antagonists, nitrates, antihypoxants, b-adrenergic receptor blockers and neuroprotectors.

Overdose: In case of an overdose of Kratal, the development of dyspeptic disorders, hypersensitivity and drowsiness may occur. The drug should be discontinued and symptomatic therapy should be carried out.

Release form: Convex oval tablets with a gray-brown shell. Packaging No. 10, No. 20.

Storage conditions: The drug should be stored in a dry place, protected from light. Keep away from children.

Composition: 1 tablet of Cratal contains: taurine - 0.867 g, thick extract of hawthorn fruit - 0.043 g, thick extract of motherwort - 0.087 g. Other ingredients: magnesium stearate, potato starch, aerosil.

Attention! The description of the drug " Kralal " on this page is a simplified and expanded version of the official instructions for use. Before purchasing or using the drug, you should consult your doctor and read the instructions approved by the manufacturer. Information about the drug is provided for informational purposes only and should not be used as a guide to self-medication. Only a doctor can decide to prescribe the drug, as well as determine the dose and methods of its use.

What is Kratal used for?

The ability of the drug to protect the myocardium and nerve cells from destruction due to insufficient oxygen supply or intoxication explains its use for the following diseases:

  • ischemia of the heart muscle and brain;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • heart failure;
  • contraction rhythm disturbances;
  • cardiomyopathy;
  • myocardial dystrophy;
  • neurosis;
  • cardiopsychoneurosis;
  • encephalopathy;
  • mild arterial hypertension;
  • neurogenic bladder dysfunction;
  • post-radiation syndrome.

In most cases, Karatal is used together with other drugs as an adjuvant, but for patients with neurocirculatory dystonia it can be the main medication. When taking it, patients reduce the frequency and intensity of crises, the feeling of anxiety goes away, irritability, headache and heart pain decrease, and sleep improves.

The same positive changes were noted among the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident. In this group of people, hemoglobin and leukocyte levels and blood enzyme composition normalized.

Drug interactions

The use of Kratal is possible simultaneously with vasodilators, long-acting nitrates, beta-blockers, calcium antagonists, diuretics and cardiac glycosides. It should be taken into account that Kratal enhances the antianginal effects of antihypoxants, calcium antagonists, nitrates, neuroprotectors, and beta-blockers.

Kratal increases the sensitivity of the myocardium to the effects of cardiac glycosides and slow calcium channel blockers, which may require adjustment of their doses.

Contraindications

It is not recommended to prescribe Kratal if intolerance to any component of the tablets is detected, as well as in the case of a pronounced slowdown in heart rate or persistent arterial hypotension. The drug is used with caution in severe liver or kidney damage.

Patients with diabetes mellitus when taking Kratal should monitor their blood glucose levels more often, as it may drop excessively. The dose of insulin or tablets used to treat hyperglycemia may need to be adjusted.

Monitoring blood glucose levels

Features of good stagnation

Do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug.

If symptoms do not appear or worsen after treatment with the drug, you should consult a doctor.

If there is swelling of the ankles or legs, there is pain in the heart, which can spread to the left arm, the upper abdomen or neck, or if a butt appears, consultation with a doctor is necessary.

If your health has not changed or your health has worsened while taking Kratal, you should definitely consult with a specialist about the advisability of further use.

It must be remembered that the calming effect of Kratal can cause a decrease in reaction speed and ability to concentrate. Therefore, during the period of therapy, you should not drive vehicles or operate machinery at work.

Pharmacological authorities

Pharmacodynamics.

It has been shown to provide cardiotonic, antianginal, antioxidant, antiarrhythmic, antihypoxic, antiplatelet and antiatherogenic effects; It inhibits the renin-angiotensin and kalikrein-kinin systems, the process of lipid peroxidation, and has a positive effect on the production of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP).
