Mycospor, 1%, solution for external use, 15 ml, 1 pc.

Composition and release forms

The cream is a broad-spectrum antimycotic

The main active ingredient of the drug Mikospor is micronized bifonazole. The product has several dosage forms:

  • cream;
  • solution;
  • powder;
  • ointment included in the set.

All dosage forms of the drug contain 1% of the active substance and auxiliary components. The Mikospor set also includes 40 urea, white beeswax, petroleum jelly and lanolin.

Properties of the drug

Bifonazole, the main active ingredient of the drug, is an imidazole derivative and has strong antifungal properties. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, which is necessary for the formation of the cell wall of fungi, which impairs their ability to reproduce and form colonies. This allows you not only to get rid of existing inflammatory foci, but also to prevent pathogenic microflora from spreading, creating new ones.

Mycospor is active against not only widespread pathogens, but also against rare fungi that may be resistant to certain types of antifungal drugs. The product successfully destroys the following types of pathogenic microflora:

  • yeast and yeast-like fungi;
  • molds;
  • dermatophytes;
  • mushrooms of the genus Candida;
  • aspergillus;
  • Malassezia furfur;
  • Corynebacterium minutissimum.

The properties of different dosage forms of the drug differ slightly due to differences in composition. For example, a product in powder form additionally eliminates foot hyperhidrosis caused by fungus. The urea-containing ointment included in the Mycospor set allows you to soften the nail affected by the fungus and gradually remove it, as well as prevent the spread of infection to the surrounding soft tissue, after which you can begin full treatment with a solution or cream.

Mycostop for nails

According to the accepted pharmacological classification, Mycostop belongs to antifungal drugs. This local external remedy is used to treat the skin of the feet, nails, and shoes. The active substance of the composition is undecylenamidopropyltrimonium methosulfate, which inhibits the growth and development of infection, preventing pathogens from re-infecting healthy areas of the nails and skin.

Properties of the drug

Medicines from the Mycostop line are designed to protect skin and nails from fungal infection, and for antifungal treatment of shoes. The complex composition of the drugs helps stop the infection and protect the body from infection. When treating an existing fungus, preparations with undecylenamidopropyltrimonium methosulfate are used to prevent the risk of re-infection.

The cream paste contains urea (carbamide), which softens affected nails and rough forms of hyperkeratosis of the skin of the feet, which helps subsequent antifungal medications penetrate deeper and act more effectively. Lactic acid in the lotion penetrates into the deep layers of the nail, creating an acidic environment that is destructive to pathogens. Nicotinic acid accelerates the growth of plates and improves local blood circulation.

Indications for use

The instructions for use of Mycostop indicate the following indications for which it can be used:

  • for lotion, spray: prevention of fungal infection after contact in public places (beach, pool, sauna), after using someone else's shoes;
  • for deodorant: hygienic treatment of shoes, elimination of excessive sweating;
  • for cream paste: local treatment of fungus with hyperkeratosis of the foot, prevention of infection;
  • for cream: trichophytosis of smooth skin, favus, microsporia, systemic mycoses of the hands and feet, inguinal athlete's foot, lichen versicolor;
  • candidiasis of nails, skin, nail folds, onychomycosis;
  • hyperhidrosis of the feet, interdigital diaper rash.

Mode of application

It is important to remember that all dosage forms of the drug have their own method of administration. Mikospor cream and Mikospor set are independent products with different compositions. The cream can be used to treat fungal infections on both the skin and nails, while Mycospor in the form of an ointment from the kit is used only on the nail plates. The drug in powder form is intended for the treatment of feet with sweating and fungal infections.

The most universal dosage form of the product is a solution containing an active antifungal component and ethyl alcohol: it can be used on almost any area of the skin and nail plates.

When using the drug Mikospor, it is important to strictly follow the instructions for use; do not apply the product to the eyes and mucous membranes, or take it orally.

Before starting treatment, it is necessary to consult with a specialist to ensure that there are no contraindications and to individually clarify the dosage and duration of the therapeutic course.

Solution

The drug can be used to treat fungal infections on both the skin and nails

Mycospor solution is most often used to treat mild stages of onychomycosis. The liquid form allows it to evenly fill all the unevenness and cracks on the surface of the nail plate and penetrate deep into, completely covering the areas affected by the fungus. The product is used twice a day. Before treatment, the affected areas are steamed and wiped dry.

For nail fungus, it is useful to take medicinal baths with antiseptic, salt or soda for 15-20 minutes. If the nail is slightly deformed, it is not necessary to cut it short or file off the top layer of the nail plate. The solution is applied to the center of the nail using a dispenser or pipette, 3 drops at a time. It is also recommended to treat healthy nails to avoid infection. The solution can be used to treat fungal infections on the hands and feet. The course of treatment is quite long and can last up to 1 year.

Cream

The fatty structure of Mycospor cream allows it to be quickly and well absorbed into tissues and soften them, relieving the symptoms of a fungal infection. The drug in this form is suitable for the treatment of nail fungus, but is more effective for treating the following areas of the epidermis:

  • smooth skin;
  • armpits;
  • inguinal folds;
  • feet and palms;
  • interdigital spaces.

When treating skin infections, the cream is applied to the affected areas and adjacent areas of healthy skin in a thin layer at night, covered with a breathable bandage. Nail treatment is carried out in the morning and evening, after steaming and drying the nail plates. In this case, the cream must also be applied to the surrounding soft tissues. Mycospor cream is used to treat the initial stages of onychomycosis, when there is no need to remove the nail plate. Procedures are carried out daily. The duration of therapy depends on the type, severity and form of the disease:

  • skin candidiasis – 2-4 weeks;
  • tinea versicolor – 2 weeks;
  • mycosis of the feet – 1 month;
  • mycoses of the palms, inguinal folds, torso – 3 weeks;
  • erythrasma – 2 weeks.

Treatment should continue for at least two weeks after symptoms disappear or a healthy nail grows back.

Powder

Mycospor powder is used as a means of complex therapy for foot fungus. Despite the presence of bifonazole in its composition, it does not serve to destroy the fungal infection, but to reduce sweating, which contributes to the spread of infection to healthy areas of the skin and causes an unpleasant odor.

For foot hyperhidrosis, use the powder daily, adding it to warm foot baths or applying directly to areas of excessive sweating. The course of treatment is about three weeks. It is recommended to use Mycospor in powder form in combination with a cream or solution.

Mycospora set

The drug Mikospor is available in the form of a kit

Mycospor in the form of an ointment from the kit has slightly different instructions for use than a cream or solution. A thin layer of it is applied to the affected nail, without affecting healthy tissue, sealed with a band-aid and left for a day. After removing the bandage, immerse the softened nail in warm water for 10-15 minutes, and then carefully remove the parts of the plate affected by the fungus using a scraper. After the procedure is completed, the nail is dried and disinfected, treated again with ointment and covered with a plaster.

The procedure is carried out daily until the nail bed becomes smooth and the nail plate can no longer be removed with a scraper. The duration of treatment depends on the depth of the lesion and the thickness of the nail and varies from 1 to 2 weeks. After the infected nail has been completely removed, antifungal therapy is carried out using Mycospor cream or solution.

Mikospor ointment acts more aggressively than other forms of this drug, so it should not be allowed to come into contact with soft tissues. If irritation appears on the skin around the nail while using the ointment, it should be treated with zinc paste before the procedure.

Preventative spray for feet and shoes

Mycostop spray is used as a separate product for disinfecting feet and shoes to prevent fungal infection after visiting public places, and in combination with paste and lotion to eliminate onychomycosis.

In the second case, the spray is used to treat shoes in parallel with the main therapy to avoid the risk of re-infection.

The product is sold in 150 ml bottles. Contains water, tetranyl U, castor oil.

Spray use

For prevention, after visiting swimming pools, showers, gyms, baths, wearing someone else's shoes, spray the feet, nails and areas between the toes.

To treat shoes, you need to wash them inside or wash them if possible, and then spray the inside generously with spray and wait to dry.

Reviews about the preventive spray are positive. It does a good job of disinfecting and protecting your feet. An indispensable remedy for frequent visits to public places where it is impossible to avoid contact of bare feet with surfaces that are pathologically dangerous for infection.

Among the disadvantages, some users note that the spray can leave stains on the inner surface of white shoes. It is also recommended to pre-test the product for those who are prone to allergic reactions.

Side effect of the drug

Powder, ointment and solution rarely cause negative side effects. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may occur - itching, peeling, redness, as well as pain or swelling in the area of application. This only happens if the patient is intolerant to the drug.

Mycospor ointment, if used incorrectly, can cause the following negative symptoms:

  • irritation;
  • itching;
  • rash;
  • burning;
  • eczema;
  • contact dermatitis;
  • blisters;
  • dry skin;
  • allergic dermatitis;
  • skin corrosion;
  • splitting of the nail plate;
  • peeling;
  • peeling of skin;
  • irritation and redness in the nail bed area;
  • change in pigmentation of the nail plate.

Symptoms appear only in areas where the ointment is applied, do not threaten the patient’s health and disappear immediately after discontinuation of the drug. When using the Mycospor kit, the instructions for use must be followed precisely: applying too much of the drug, frequent processing and contact of the ointment with soft tissues often cause side effects.

Contraindications

The drug has the following contraindications for use:

  • allergy to the components of the drug;
  • childhood;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding period.

Some of the contraindications are relative: the drug can be prescribed to children over 1 year of age, during the second and third trimester of pregnancy, as well as during breastfeeding, but only under the supervision of the attending physician, in cases where the treatment is guaranteed to benefit the mother without harming the fetus or child . There have been no separate studies on the effect of Mycospor in children.

When applied externally, the active substance of the drug is absorbed into the blood, but only slightly. Studies show that bifonazole in such concentrations does not harm the health of the mother or fetus, but nevertheless doctors do not recommend its use in the first trimester of pregnancy and prescribe it with caution.

It is not known whether the antifungal component is excreted in breast milk, however, if it is necessary to use Mycospor during lactation, breastfeeding should be temporarily discontinued. In addition, it is not recommended to apply the drug to the chest area.

special instructions

For successful treatment, personal hygiene should be carefully observed during the period of use of the drug. If you have foot and toenail fungus, you should give preference to “breathable” shoes, periodically treat them with an antiseptic, and change your socks at least once a day. Parts of the nail plate affected by fungus should be removed with special care.

When using the Mycospor kit, the base of the patch may provoke an allergic reaction. In this case, it must be replaced with a hypoallergenic patch from another manufacturer or a rubber fingertip. The patches are not intended to be reused.

If within a week after the start of treatment the drug does not have a therapeutic effect, you should consult a doctor to determine your immune status and the state of the endocrine system.

Complex treatment

Complex treatment of the affected areas is more effective and takes less time to obtain the final result - healthy skin of the legs and nails.
It is a set of measures that is necessary to neutralize the problem. Single products and irregular use threaten the complete absence of the desired effect.

The 2 in 1 line consists of cream paste and lotion, and the 3 in 1 line includes cream paste, lotion and spray.

Buying the complex turns out to be more economical than buying each of the formulas separately. After the first use, you can purchase what you need to continue therapy as you spend.

Complex therapy for foot and nail fungus should take place in 3 key stages:

  • Removal of areas of nails affected by onychomycosis;
  • Elimination of infection;
  • Sanitary treatment of shoes.

To do this, you can use the Mycostop complex of products or supplement complex therapy with other formulas.

Instructions for the complex use of the entire line of drugs:

  1. First you need to remove the diseased areas of the plate with paste. This way we reduce the consumption of the product, and also provide the next formula in the line with full access to the new growing plate.
  2. After removing the nail with paste, you need to treat the affected area with lotion from the complex twice a day for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, 1 application per day will be sufficient for a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 12 months, until a healthy nail grows completely.
  3. A spray will help disinfect shoes. It is also effective for preventing infection with mycosis when visiting public places.
  4. In the summer, the line's deodorant will provide prevention and normalization of sweating.
  5. For very dry skin and hyperkeratosis, you can periodically take courses using a cream from this complex. It softens the plates affected by the disease, eliminates hyperkeratosis and prepares the nails for the effects of the treatment formulas of the line.
