Mechanism of action

Plantaglucidum (lat. Plantaglucidum) is a herbal medicine that has a wide range of applications. The drug has the following effects:

  • antiseptic;
  • antispasmodic;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • enveloping;
  • expectorant.

In addition, Plantaglucid stimulates the process of restoration of damaged tissues and gastric secretion. The antiseptic effect of the drug is manifested against the following microorganisms: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, staphylococcus and hemolytic streptococcus. This effect is due to the presence of phytoncides in plantain - substances produced by plants that inhibit the activity of pathogens.

Thanks to polysaccharides, pectin and tannins, as well as benzoic and salicylic acids, the drug promotes the healing of wounds and ulcers and suppresses the inflammatory process. Polysaccharides stimulate the synthesis of interferon. Zinc and flavonoids (plant pigments) help fight bacteria. Polysaccharides in combination with enzymes and vitamins accelerate the process of tissue restoration. This action is due to the fact that plantain makes cells more resilient when there is insufficient oxygen supply.

The antihypoxic effect is achieved due to the presence of organic and phenol carbonic acids, flavonoids, vitamin C, zinc and copper. The positive effect of the drug on the gastrointestinal tract is achieved due to the fact that plantain:

  • normalizes the digestive process;
  • increases appetite;
  • reduces tension in the muscle fibers of the digestive organs;
  • suppresses the inflammatory process;
  • stimulates the production and normalizes the acidity of gastric juice;
  • regenerates damaged cells.

Vitamin K has a hemostatic effect. Plantain also normalizes cholesterol levels in the blood plasma.

Plantaglucide is a plant-based drug widely used in a variety of therapeutic regimens for patients with diseases of the digestive tract.

The medicine specifically affects the smooth muscles of the stomach and intestinal tract. Due to tissue relaxation, basic physiological processes are stabilized.

Description

Plantaglucide consists of an aqueous extract of plantain, a number of polysaccharides, organic uronic acids and other valuable components. The medicine is presented in its original pharmacological form - in the form of granules consisting of sugar and medicinal components.

The combination of polysaccharides, pectins, tannins and salicylic acid provide a quick and quite noticeable anti-inflammatory effect.

Due to the normalization of processes at the cellular level, regeneration processes are accelerated.

Polysaccharide components accelerate the synthesis of interferon. Zinc and a number of flavonoids normalize phagocytosis. Enzymes and vitamins improve trophism in the periphery and help stabilize the metabolic status.

The valuable components found in plantain extract help prevent oxygen starvation of tissues. The already pronounced antihypoxic effect is enhanced by the symbiosis of citric, ferulic, caffeic, coumaric acids and flavonoids such as quercetin and apigenin.

In addition, the plantain extract itself has the following therapeutic qualities:

  • Regulates digestive processes;
  • Increases appetite;
  • Reduces the tone of the smooth muscles that form the walls of the stomach;
  • Eliminates intestinal hypertonicity;
  • Relieves inflammatory reactions;
  • Accelerates the healing of damaged structures of the digestive canal;
  • Forces the process of gastric juice production;
  • Corrects and improves the quality of gastric juice.

Main indications for use of the drug

Reviews about the drug Plantaglucid are positive. Patients with different forms and types of gastrointestinal pathologies mention a pronounced therapeutic effect.

Main indications for use of the medicinal product:
