That is why it is so important to have in mind an effective and natural remedy that can efficiently remove phlegm, relieve bronchospasm and relieve inflammation as much as possible. Bronchipret is presented in 3 dosage forms: syrup, tablets and drops. However, syrup and drops are usually used directly for children, and tablets are indicated for use only from 12 years of age. You can find both syrup and drops in pharmacies in dark glass bottles in sizes of 50 and 100 ml (the drops are also equipped with a convenient pipette dispenser, and the syrup comes with a measuring cup).
The main active components of this medicine are liquid extracts of thyme herbs and ivy leaves. Excipients include:
- For drops: saccharin sodium dihydrate, water, food grade citric acid.
- For syrup: potassium sorbate, maltitol syrup, water, food grade citric acid.
Compound
The composition of the medication includes natural herbal ingredients:
- Liquid thyme extract. For 100 ml of the drug there are 15 ml of herb extract.
- Ivy leaves. Presented with plant extract. 1.5 ml of the substance is contained in a 100 ml bottle.
Thanks to the active herbal components, Bronchipret has a bronchodilator, decongestant and expectorant effect. The medication stimulates the production of mucus in the bronchi, which breaks down hardened mucus. The accumulation of fluid irritates the nerve endings on the mucous membranes, which causes bronchospasm with sharp exhalations. A wet cough develops, removing phlegm from the body.
Flavonoids reduce the viscosity of secreted mucus. Plant extracts relieve inflammation of the bronchi, accelerate the process of regeneration and cellular renewal of tissues. The anti-edematous effect is achieved by improving microcirculation - the drug increases blood supply to the bronchial tree. As a result, exudate and excess fluid leave the soft tissue along with the blood.
In addition, the active components of the drug have a bronchospasmolytic effect. They reduce the force of contraction of bronchial smooth muscles due to intensive blood supply. The flow of oxygen and nutrients quickly relaxes tissues in spasm.
In addition to the main active ingredients, the composition includes auxiliary ingredients necessary to improve the bioavailability of the drug:
- ethyl alcohol (7% of the total volume);
- citric acid in the form of monohydrate;
- sterile water;
- maltitol syrup;
- potassium sorbate.
Plant components are quickly absorbed into the blood by 90-100% and are evenly distributed throughout the body. The drug has an effect on the bronchi almost immediately after use. The expectorant and antispasmodic effect appears after 1-2 hours.
Operating principle
The drug Bronchipret has the following effects:
- expands the bronchi, due to which viscous sputum is removed from them much faster and minimizes the likelihood of bronchospasm;
- dilutes bronchial secretions and activates their production, making it easier to pass;
- disinfects the mucous membrane (harmfully affecting pneumococci, streptococci and other pathogenic bacteria and viruses) and reduces its inflammation.
Bronchipret
Bronchipret is an expectorant herbal medicine from a German pharmaceutical company. It is used as part of complex symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory infections with accompanying cough and excessive mucus formation (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the trachea, bronchi, etc.). The extracts of ivy and thyme included in the drug have a mucolytic (thin the mucus and facilitate its evacuation from the respiratory tract), antispasmodic (relieves spasms of the smooth muscles of the bronchi), anti-inflammatory effect and potentiate the effects of each other. Research in the field of pharmacognosy suggests that these two plant components are an ideal combination for inclusion in drugs for the treatment of pathologies of the respiratory tract. Bronchipret is a modern combined herbal preparation, endowed with a mild, gentle effect and not inferior to artificially synthesized mucolytics. In addition to the above effects, the drug also has antiviral, antimicrobial, secretomotor (stimulates the discharge of sputum during a wet cough) effect. The uniqueness of Bronchipret lies in its inhalation effect, which manifests itself after oral administration. The drug can be used in patients of all age groups, incl. in children when they reach three months. Bronchipret is not contraindicated for people with diabetes, which cannot be said about every antitussive drug.
The medicine is convenient to use, because Each patient can choose a convenient dosage form for themselves: syrup, drops, tablets. Due to the presence of ethanol in the composition, Bronchipret is not recommended for people who abuse alcohol, suffer from epilepsy and liver diseases, have a history of traumatic brain injury, as well as during pregnancy and lactation. The optimal time to take Bronchipret is after meals. The duration of the medication course is 10-14 days. Extension of treatment and/or the possibility of a repeat course is discussed with the attending physician. As a rule, the drug is well tolerated and does not cause side effects. It is strictly forbidden to take the medicine in the following cases:

Ethyl alcohol, which is part of the composition, has a toxic effect on liver cells and the nervous system. In case of mental disorders or functional damage to these organs, the general condition of the patient may deteriorate up to immediate hospitalization.
Directions for use and dosage
This medicine must be taken directly orally, after meals, with the required amount of water.
The drug in the form of drops is taken 4 times a day and a single dose is:
- for children from 6 to 11 years old – 25 drops;
- from 12 to 18 years – 28 drops;
- over 18 years old – 40 drops.
Bronchipret syrup is taken 3 times a day and a single dose is:
- for children from 3 to 12 months – 1.1 ml;
- from 1 year to 2 years – 2.2 ml;
- from 2 to 6 years – 3.2 ml;
- from 6 to 12 years – 4.3 ml;
- over 12 years old – 5.4 ml.
The duration of therapy is usually up to 2 weeks.
Interaction with other drugs
The drug can be used during antibacterial therapy. Antimicrobial agents suppress the growth and development of pathogenic microflora, which reduces the therapeutic effect of Bronchipret. Taking antibiotics to artificially enhance the expectorant effect of the syrup is strictly prohibited.
Uncontrolled use of antimicrobial agents threatens overdose and intestinal dysbiosis. Antibiotics are indicated only when a secondary infection occurs against the background of a viral disease of the respiratory system or in infectious-inflammatory pathologies of bacterial origin (tuberculosis, pneumonia).
It is not recommended to take sweet syrup in parallel with drugs that reduce sputum secretion. A similar ban is imposed on antitussive medications. In both cases, a decrease in the expectorant effect is observed.
