A medicine based on bismuth tripotassium dicitrate is produced in the form of round, biconvex tablets for internal use. It has gastroprotective, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.

General information about the drug

Indications for its use are disorders of the gastrointestinal tract:

  • ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum;
  • erosive gastritis;
  • ulcerative colitis of nonspecific form;
  • complex eradication of Helicobacter pylori;
  • disorders of the gastrointestinal tract while taking any NSAIDs.

It is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the presence of heavy metal salts in its composition that can penetrate the placental and blood-brain barriers. In pediatric practice, it is allowed only from 14 years of age. Earlier intake is possible according to an individual dosage regimen and exclusively as complex anti-Helicobacter therapy.

pharmachologic effect

De-NolManufacturer: Astellas Pharma, Netherlands
Release form: film-coated tablets

Active ingredient: Bismuth tripotassium dicitrate

Synonyms: Ulkavix, Novobismol, Escape, Vikanol Life

De-Nol is a gastroprotector and has astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. Protein coagulation occurs and the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, which causes stomach ulcers, dies. A protective film forms on the ulcer surface.

The drug promotes the healing of ulcers and restores the protective function of the gastric mucosa.

De-Nol - is it an antibiotic or not?

De-Nol does not contain antibiotics. The bactericidal effect against Helicobacter pylori occurs at the local level due to protein coagulation.

Ventrisol

This analogue is not inferior in price to De-Nol, its cost ranges from 500-600 rubles. The relatively high price is due to its foreign origin.

Both drugs have the same composition and, accordingly, are used for the same purposes. The list of contraindications and instructions for use are also identical.

Taking the product

The analogue copes well with disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract, which are caused by the pathogenic Helicobacter pylori. The medication is prescribed to adults and children. The standard regimen for taking the analog involves taking the tablet three times a day. During treatment with Ventrisol, side effects rarely occur.

There are no side effects during treatment with Ventrisol, judging by numerous reviews.

It is impossible to find out specifically which is better - De-Nol or its analogue. Both drugs are almost identical, they have the same effect.

De-Nol - instructions for use

Adults take De-Nol 1 tablet 4 times a day. You can take 2 tablets twice a day.

Children from 8 to 12 years old take 1 tablet 2 times a day. From 4 to 8 years, the dose should be calculated based on 8 mg per 1 kg of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses.

1 tablet of the drug contains 120 mg of active substance.

The course of treatment is 4–8 weeks.

A package of 112 tablets is designed for exactly 4 weeks of use for an adult. And 56 tablets is the minimum course of treatment for children from 8 to 12 years old.

How to take De-Nol - before or after meals

De-Nol is taken half an hour before meals and at night, before bed.

And within 30 minutes before and after taking it, you should not consume other medications, food or drinks, as they may impair the effectiveness of the drug.

Domestic analogues of the product

Domestic drugs with similar effects are distinguished by their affordability, while the active substance in them may differ, and the effectiveness of the products is not lower than the drug Do-Nol.

Vikalin

De-Nol (domestic analogues are cheaper, since less money is spent on transporting them to the point of sale) and Vikalin are produced in a single dosage form - tablets.

Also, both medications are multicomponent and contain bismuth, which has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, and also creates a protective film on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract.

The indications for use of the drugs are the same, but the contraindications differ. De-Nol is allowed to be used to eliminate gastrointestinal pathologies in children from 4 years of age, and Vikalin can only be used after reaching 18 years of age. The remaining contraindications are similar.

Analogues of De-Nol: domestic substitutes are cheaper. Prices, reviews

The dosage and course of use of the products are also different and depend on the purpose of use. In this case, De-Nol tablets must be taken whole, and Vikalin tablets must be crushed and dissolved in water. The dosage of De-Nol also varies depending on age. The minimum duration of treatment for both drugs is 1 month.

Side effects from using the drugs are similar (impaired kidney function, vomiting, diarrhea). Also, the use of medications cannot be combined with meals and it is strictly forbidden to take the tablets with dairy products. Vikalin and De-Nol are not combined with antihistamines and tetracycline-based antibiotics.

Both types of medicines are available without a prescription and require a storage temperature of 6 to 25 degrees. At the same time, De-Nol has a shelf life of up to 4 years, and Vikalin up to 5 years.

Omeprazole

De-Nol (domestic analogs are cheaper and more accessible than imported products) differs from Omeprazole in its release form and active ingredient. Omeprazole can be purchased in the form of capsules and lyophilisate (for the preparation of a solution for intravenous administration or infusion).

The lyophilisate is used in cases of exacerbation of pathologies of the digestive tract, as well as when the use of capsules is impossible, for example, due to a jaw injury.

The active element of the drug, omeprazole, has antiulcer properties and regulates acidity in the gastrointestinal tract. The advantage of the main component is the duration of action, up to 24 hours (De-Nol retains its therapeutic effect for up to 12 hours).

Indications for the use of the drug Omeprazole are similar to De-Nolom. But the contraindications differ. Omeprazole is allowed to be used in children over 5 years of age, provided that the child weighs more than 20 kg. You should also not use the product if you have severe liver pathologies and poor blood clotting.

The dosage of the drug Omeprazole depends on the age, the form of the drug and the purpose of use. Often, the course of drug treatment is selected individually (especially in the presence of chronic pathologies), since the use of the drug can cause the development of side effects.

Analogues of De-Nol: domestic substitutes are cheaper. Prices, reviews

Unlike De-Nol tablets, the use of Omeprazole is accompanied by a more extensive list of side effects, including:

  • imbalance of the mucous membrane in the oral cavity, as a result, stomatitis often develops and there is often a feeling of dry mouth;
  • exacerbation of liver pathologies up to the development of hepatitis;
  • impaired blood formation, including a decrease in the number of platelets and leukocytes in the blood;
  • muscle pain and voluntary muscle contractions;
  • impaired pigmentation of the epidermis and hair loss;
  • deterioration in the quality of vision;
  • breathing disorder.

There are also side effects that are observed when using De-Nol tablets.

In case of an overdose of Omeprazole, an increase in heart rate and an increase in the above-mentioned side effects are observed. And with an increase in the dose of De-Nol, only a disturbance in the functioning of the kidneys is possible, which goes away on its own after discontinuation of the drug.

Omeprazole should be used with caution in complex therapy, especially when using drugs whose effectiveness depends on the acidity of the stomach.

Omeprazole, unlike De-Nol, can be purchased at a pharmacy only with a prescription. And also the shelf life of the medicine is shorter (lyophilisate - 2 years, and capsules - 3 years).

Vikair

The domestic analogue Vikair is a multicomponent drug (the list of which includes Bismuth), which has antispasmodic and laxative properties, and also normalizes stomach acidity and has a protective effect on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract. The medicine, like De-Nol, is produced in tablet form, but at the same time it costs almost 10 times less.

Indications and contraindications for the use of Vikair are similar to the drug De-Nol. The only difference in the prohibitions is the age parameter. Vikair is allowed to be used only after reaching 18 years of age.

Analogues of De-Nol: domestic substitutes are cheaper. Prices, reviews

The course of treatment with Vikair is about 2 months; you should take 1-2 tablets per day, up to 3 times a day. When the classic scheme for using De-Nol includes the use of 1-2 tablets 2 times a day for 4 to 8 weeks.

Side effects from using Vikair and symptoms of overdose are similar to the drug De-Nol. At the same time, Vikair, unlike De-Nol, cannot be used not only with antihistamines and tetracycline antibiotics. The medication should not be used simultaneously with blood thinners, heart medications and immunosuppressants.

Vikair, similar to De-Nol, is sold without a prescription. The shelf life of the product is 5 years (for DE-Nol it is 4 years).

Novobismol

De-Nol (domestic analogues are cheaper, and their quality is not lower than this drug) and Novobismol are produced in tablet form. The active substance of the latter medication (bismuth) has a disinfecting and protective effect on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract (including protection against the development of ulcers and erosions), and also accelerates the removal of toxins from the body.

Indications, contraindications and side effects for the use of the drug Novobismol are similar to De-Nol. Including age restrictions.

The dosage of the drug for adults is similar to the classic regimen for using DE-Nol. For children, the dosage of the drug varies by age, as with the drug De-Nol. The total duration of treatment takes from 1 to 2 months.

Important. Both types of drugs should not be taken simultaneously with medications that contain bismuth, or within 2 months after the end of the course of therapy. If these instructions are ignored, there is a high probability of developing kidney pathology.

Analogues of De-Nol: domestic substitutes are cheaper. Prices, reviews
Despite the great similarity of medications in terms of therapeutic and side effects and course of therapy. Novobismol is a prescription medication. The shelf life and storage conditions of medicines are also similar.

Ranitidine

Ranitidine, unlike De-Nol, is available not only in tablet form, but also in the form of an injection solution. There is also a difference in the active element.

The active substance (ranitidine hydrochloride) has antihistamine properties, normalizes acidity in the stomach, and also has a protective effect on the duodenum. Ranitidine injections are prescribed when it is impossible to use tablets or in case of severe pathologies of the digestive tract. Indications for the use of Ranitidine are similar to Do-Nol.

The list of contraindications is more extensive and includes:

  • age up to 14 years;
  • severe pathologies of the cardiovascular system;
  • poor blood clotting;
  • the presence of oncological formations in the digestive tract;
  • liver disease in severe form.

As well as severe kidney pathologies, pregnancy and lactation (Do-Nol also has these contraindications).

The dosage of the medication depends on the form of release and the severity of the pathology. The duration of treatment is from 2 to 4 weeks. It is recommended to check with your doctor for a more precise course of taking the drug.

Ranitidine differs from De-Nol in a large list of side effects, which include:

  • decrease in blood platelets and leukocytes;
  • violation of the contractile activity of the heart muscle;
  • liver dysfunction;
  • blurred vision and hallucinations;
  • headaches and impaired consciousness;
  • decreased libido, as well as lack of menstruation in women and impotence in men;
  • sudden hair loss.

If you are allergic to the composition, breathing problems and an itchy rash on the epidermis often occur. In case of an overdose of the medication, side effects increase and an ambulance is required.

Ranitidine is not recommended for use in complex treatment (unlike De-Nol), since the medication often causes increased side effects from the second drug.

To purchase the drug, you need a prescription with the dosage and release form of the product. When storing Ranitidine at a temperature of 15 to 30 degrees, the shelf life will be 2 years (2 times less than storing De-Nol).

Escape

Escape, like De-Nol, is produced only in tablet form. The active ingredients of the medications are similar, so the drug has a similar therapeutic effect. Indications for taking the medication are pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract (as with De-Nol). Contraindications (including age), side effects and dosage of Escape are also similar to De-Nol.

Analogues of De-Nol: domestic substitutes are cheaper. Prices, reviews

Escape tablets should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees for no longer than 2 years from the date of issue. You can purchase the drug without a prescription.

Analogues of De-Nol

What can replace De-Nol depends on the diagnosis and symptoms of the disease. Since the drug is over-the-counter, it is enough to consult a pharmacist or pharmacist regarding the choice of an analogue.

Potential De-Nol substitutes can be divided into groups:

  • synonyms (Ulkavis or Novobismol);
  • other bismuth preparations (Vicair, Vikalin);
  • drugs that reduce gastric acidity (Ranitidine, Nexium, Rabeprazole, Pariet, Kvamatel);
  • combinations with antibiotics (Pilobact, Helitrix);
  • antacids (Almagel, Maalox, Rennie, Phosphalugel);
  • gastrointestinal motility stimulants (Ganaton, Metoclopramide);
  • antispasmodics (Trimedat, No-Shpa, Dicetel, Duspatalin).
