Erespal

The medicine is absorbed very slowly into the mucous membrane. After consuming the tablet, the active substances of the drug begin to act within 6 hours. When drinking the syrup, the components begin to act after 2-3 hours. The substance is completely eliminated from the body 12 hours after administration.

It is not recommended to take the product for more than 20 days. When taking for a long time, you should take short breaks to avoid side effects or severe allergies.

pharmachologic effect

According to the instructions for use of Erespal, the active ingredient of the drug - fenspiride - has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and anti-bronchoconstrictor effect, due to a decrease in the production of the main biologically active substances that play a key role in the development of the inflammatory reaction and bronchospasm: cytokines, free radicals, arachidonic acid metabolites.

Inhibits the metabolism of arachidonic acid, while simultaneously blocking histamine H1 receptors, since it is histamine that stimulates the chemical reactions of converting arachidonic acid into final metabolites-inflammatory factors. Reduces the production of other inflammatory mediators - serotonin and bradykinin.

Blocks α-adrenergic receptors, the activation of which increases the secretion of the bronchial glands. The complex effect of fenspiride reduces the pathological influence of a number of factors that promote hypersecretion of anti-inflammatory substances and cause obstruction of the bronchial tree. It has a pronounced antispasmodic and myotropic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Erespal's instructions indicate that after oral administration of 1 tablet, the maximum concentration of fenspiride in the blood is detected after 6 hours; the use of syrup determines the effective concentration after 2.5 hours. The half-life (T 1/2) is 12 hours, excreted mainly through the urinary system. system (up to 90%), a small part is excreted by the intestines (about 10%).

Erespal's analogs

Level 4 ATX code matches:

  • Siresp
  • Daxas
  • Inspiron

In pharmacy chains you can find similar drugs that have the same properties. Analogues of Erespal syrup and tablets in terms of effects on the human body are Stoptussin, Fenspiride, Ascoril, Fluditek, Lazolvan, Ambrobene. The price of analogues can be either higher or lower. But, despite the desire to find cheaper analogues, you should ask your doctor about what you can replace 80 mg tablets or Erespal syrup with. In some cases, Erespal can be replaced with Bronchicum. It is used for bronchitis, both dry and wet cough.

Which is better: Erespal or Sinekod?

Sinekod is a drug that is a direct-acting antitussive drug. Its active ingredient is butamirate. This remedy is used primarily for non-productive coughs. It is not recommended to take Erespal and Sinekod at the same time. In this case, you should definitely consult a doctor.

Which is better: Erespal or Lazolvan?

Only a doctor should prescribe a drug for the treatment of an adult or child. Erespal more effectively reduces inflammatory processes, and Lazolvan promotes the liquefaction and removal of sputum. That is, Lazolvan is used for wet coughs. Often patients are also interested in whether it is possible to take Erespal and Lazolvan at the same time. The compatibility of these drugs is acceptable. However, only a doctor can prescribe Lazolvan and Erespal together, since compliance with a special regimen for taking these drugs is required.

Which is better: Erespal or Ambrobene?

Patients also wonder whether Erespal and Ambrobene can be used together during treatment. The active ingredient of the drug Ambrobene, like Lazolvan, is ambroxol hydrochloride. Therefore, the answer to the question of what to prefer, Erespal or Ambrobene, is similar.

Which is better: Prospan or Erespal?

Prospan is a drug with a mucolytic effect, the basis of which is a dry extract of ivy leaves. However, only a doctor can determine which drug should be used for a cough, runny nose, etc.

Which is better: Erespal or Askoril?

The drug Ascoril contains three active substances - salbutamol, bromhexine and guaifenesin. It acts on the body as a bronchodilator and mucolytic. Erespal and Ascoril are prescribed at the same time, only by a doctor according to indications. The patient also cannot independently answer which is better - Erespal or Ascoril, since the diagnosis and individual characteristics of the patient must be taken into account.

People very often have questions about combining Erespal with other cough medicines. For example, can Erespal and Fluditec be taken together? Is cough treatment carried out in such a way that Erespal and ACC can be used together in one treatment regimen? Despite the fact that there are no strict instructions on the incompatibility of these drugs, you cannot combine any cough suppressants on your own, without consulting a doctor.

Thus, before answering which cough to take this or that drug, you need to carefully study the instructions and consult with your doctor. For which cough a particular syrup or tablet is prescribed and drunk depends on its active substance and effect on the body.

Indications for use

The drug is indicated in the complex treatment of respiratory tract diseases (upper and lower sections):

  • pharyngitis;
  • nasopharyngitis;
  • laryngitis;
  • tracheitis;
  • tracheobronchitis;
  • bronchitis (with or without chronic respiratory failure);
  • bronchial asthma;
  • respiratory symptoms of influenza, measles and whooping cough;

  • respiratory infections, the symptom complex of which includes cough.

Erespal for cough multifunctionality of the drug

The possibility of using Erespal for different types of cough deserves special mention - after all, the drug exhibits its properties regardless of its underlying cause.

Let us remember that cough can develop as a result of many different diseases. Let's take a closer look at this problem.

Viral infection

Most often, cough appears as a result of a respiratory viral infection - ARVI. More than two hundred different respiratory viruses can provoke its appearance against the background of several traditional accompanying diseases of ARVI: bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, tracheitis, laryngotracheitis and so on. Antibiotics are powerless against a viral infection and traditional antiseptics are not very strong. That is why cough with bronchitis and laryngotracheitis often has a protracted course.

Treatment of ARVI can have two directions. The first, domestic, involves the prescription of antiviral drugs, interferons and other agents that resist the onslaught of viral infection. In this case, the cough is corrected symptomatically: antitussives for dry cough, expectorants for wet cough.

The second direction is preferred by adherents of Western medicine. In general, it is quite difficult to call it treatment: experts who adhere to this point of view believe that ARVI does not need to be treated at all. Indeed, all respiratory viruses die on their own, 7–10 days after infection.

Following this path, it is important not to miss possible complications, especially likely in children and debilitated patients. In addition, in the West it is believed that drugs active against respiratory viruses do not exist in nature.

Erespal or ACC, which is preferable for a child?

ACC is a mucolytic; the drug contains acetylcysteine as its main component. The drug helps to liquefy mucus and clear the respiratory tract from it. ACC can also be used for inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and ears, and also as an antidote for paracetamol poisoning. In addition to dosage forms for oral administration, the mucolytic is available in an injection solution for injection into a vein and muscle, which is allowed from birth. ACC is prohibited for patients with hypersensitivity to its substances, gastrointestinal ulcers, or bleeding from the lung. Rengalin is a Russian homeopathic drug that is commercially available in lozenges and oral solution. The product can be taken from 3 years of age for diseases accompanied by bronchospasm, dry and wet cough. Rengalin should not be taken if you are intolerant to its components, as this can cause allergies. You can read more about Rengalin here.

Due to the fact that the benefits of homeopathic medicines have not been proven, and Erespal is harmful to the child’s body, we cannot recommend either one or another cough remedy.

Sinekod or Erespal, which is better for a child?

Sinekod is an antitussive drug that is available in syrup and drops. As the main component, the medication contains butamirate, which suppresses the cough center located in the medulla oblongata. Sinekod in drops can be used by patients older than 2 months, syrup - from 3 years with a dry cough that does not produce sputum. The medication is recommended for cough suppression during surgery and examination of the respiratory system with a bronchoscope. Read more about Sinekod here.

Sinekod is not dangerous to the health of children, so it is better to choose this particular medicine.

What to choose Lazolvan or Erespal?

Previously, Erespal more effectively fought inflammation, and Lazolvan – with sputum discharge. The latter drug is prescribed to patients who have a wet cough. Is it possible to take Erespal and Lazolvan at the same time? There are no contraindications, but only a pediatrician can prescribe a joint dose, since they must be taken according to a certain schedule. Moreover, such a need does not arise often. In most cases, you can get by with just one medication or no medication at all.

All of these drugs are different from Erespal, and after its harm has been proven, the doctor must decide which medicine is best to take, since depending on the type of cough, treatment should be different and only a specialist can accurately diagnose and select an adequate dosage regimen.

Prescription of tablets for children

The list of contraindications in the instructions that come with Erespal tablets includes children's age. It is separately stated that Erespal in tablet form is not intended for the treatment of children .

But many parents ask doctors whether children can take Erespal tablets. If we are talking about children under one year old, then Erespal is not prescribed in any form. Children over 2 years old may be allowed to take pills by their doctor. This is often done if inflammation accompanied by cough begins in a child prone to allergies. Many components of the syrup provoke allergies; such a reaction occurs much less frequently with tablets.

Even when prescribed by a doctor, many parents are afraid to give their children Erespal tablets. Before you start doubting the doctor’s competence, you need to figure out why children should not take Erespal tablets.

This is due to the fact that they will have to be divided into several small parts. It is difficult to separate them so that each piece of the tablet contains the same amount of active ingredient. If the drug is taken in insufficient quantities, the desired therapeutic effect will not be achieved. An overdose can provoke tachycardia, vomiting, and the appearance of excessive excitability or drowsiness. The syrup is much easier to dose.

Is it better to give Prospan or Erespal to a child?

Prospan is a German herbal preparation, the therapeutic effect of which is explained by ivy extract. It is available in syrup, solution for oral administration and inhalation. Oral drops can be taken from the age of one, but inhalations due to the risk of laryngospasm are allowed only from 2 years. The herbal medicine can cause allergies. If you choose between Prospan or Erespal, we would recommend Prospan, but it is better to consult a doctor.

Fluditek or Erespal which is better for a child?

Fluditec is a French drug that contains carbocisteine as its main component. The medicine is a mucolytic and expectorant. It promotes the removal of mucus from the respiratory tract and secretion from the paranasal sinuses. In a suitable form of release, the drug can be used in patients over 2 years of age with diseases of the respiratory system, middle ear, to prepare the bronchopulmonary system for bronchoscopy and x-ray examination. The medication should not be taken if you have a peptic ulcer or hypersensitivity to its ingredients. Taking a mucolytic may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, bloating, internal bleeding, allergies, dizziness, and impotence.

This drug has too long a list of adverse reactions, but compared to Erespal, it looks quite safe. We don't recommend any of them.

What is better Ambrobene or Erespal for children?

Ambrobene is a mucolytic and expectorant that is produced in Germany. The therapeutic effect of the drug is explained by ambroxol, which can be used for wet cough from the first days of life. Ambrobene may cause dry mouth. Therefore, we do not recommend either medicine.
