Fucidin G (Fucidin H) is a combination drug for external use. Belongs to the group of corticosteroids for the treatment of skin diseases for external use - weakly active corticosteroids in combination with antibiotics (D07CA01).
Active ingredients: Fusidic acid and Hydrocortisone. Fucidin G has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, glucocorticoid effects. The drug is available with a doctor's prescription!
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Pharmacodynamics
Bicomponent drug intended for external use. Combines the antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effects of hydrocortisone with the bacteriostatic effect of fusidic acid , based on disruption of protein biosynthesis in the pathogen cell.
The most sensitive to the drug Fucidin are gram-positive microorganisms and gram-negative cocci: Streptococcus pyogenes, Neisseria meningitidis and gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus aureus and epidemridis, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Nocardia asteroides, as well as representatives of the genera Pseudomonas and Clostridium.
The drug is not active against E. coli , as well as representatives of the genera Salmonella and Proteus, protozoa and fungi.
The antibacterial effect of fusidic acid is not weakened by the presence of hydrocortisone .
Pharmacokinetics
About 2% of the active ingredients penetrate the skin upon application. Systemic absorption is weak.
Fusidic acid is excreted mainly in the bile, and only a small small amount is evacuated from the body in the urine.
Absorbed hydrocortisone is quickly transformed and excreted in the urine.
Action
Medicines based on fusidic acid, a natural antibiotic, began to be produced in the 60s of the twentieth century. The substance inhibits the activity of staphylococci, including those resistant to penicillins, erythromycins and chloramphenicol, streptococci, meningococci, pneumococci and gonococci. By introducing itself into the cell of a pathogenic organism, it stops the production of protein in ribosomes, which is why development stops. When enhanced with hydrocotisone, the drug acquires additional properties - it stimulates regeneration and relieves itching.
Absorption is negligible. Up to 2% of fusidic acid is absorbed through epithelial tissue. In the systemic circulation, when used according to the therapeutic regimen recommended by the instructions, it is not determined. Metabolites are excreted by the intestines, a small amount is removed by the kidneys. Hydrocortisone is excreted in the urine.

Side effects and overdose
With individual intolerance, patients experience symptoms of individual intolerance of a localized nature:
- tingling and pain at the treatment site;
- itching and burning;
- rash;
- depigmentation;
- swelling;
- hyperemia.
With prolonged use, stretch marks and folliculitis may appear. Side effects when using Fucidin G are atrophy of epithelial tissue, suppression of the adrenal cortex. Such reactions are typical with long-term use of glucocorticosteroids. In isolated cases, systemic manifestations were described - bronchospasms, anaphylactic shock. In young children, dysfunction of the liver and adrenal cortex was noted. In adults, similar manifestations can occur with renal or liver failure.
When applied topically, the cream and ointment did not cause an overdose. At the first symptoms indicating the development of local allergic reactions, it is necessary to stop treatment and consult a doctor.
special instructions
Do not apply the cream to the skin of the eyelids, as fusidic acid causes irritation of the conjunctival tissue.
The cream contains butylated hydroxyanisole, potassium sorbate and cetyl alcohol . These substances cause the development of local allergic skin phenomena . Butylated hydroxyanisole may also cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes.
When using fusidic acid, the development of bacterial resistance cannot be ruled out. antibacterial drug resistance . The use of chronic combinations of glucocorticosteroids with an antibiotic should not last more than 2 weeks due to the ability of the former to mask signs of infection or hypersensitivity reactions.
It is recommended to avoid prolonged use of topical glucocorticosteroids because this can lead to adrenal suppression even with low systemic absorption. After long-term treatment with glucocorticosteroids, atrophic changes may develop on the skin of the face and other parts of the body.
There was no effect of the drug on the ability to drive a car.

“I have problem skin, inflamed pimples and purulent acne often appear. I read reviews on forums and bought Fucidin. I applied it to my rashes for 4 days, no signs of improvement. The acne was still inflamed and remained. The instructions indicate that you need to use the ointment for 7-10 days, but I don’t see much point. If I saw an improvement, I could continue. In general, it’s difficult for me to evaluate the effectiveness of the cream. Many people write that they help, but they don’t help me. My pimples and acne are not that bad, but, alas. In 10 days they go away on their own.”

“I started having problems with acne as a teenager. Different treatment regimens were prescribed, the effect was short-term. As part of complex therapy, I was prescribed Fucidin. I used it spot on, only in problem areas. I applied it to acne and inflamed pimples. The cream removed my inflammation, dried it out, and pulled out ulcers. No new rashes appeared, the skin began to recover and clear up quite quickly. On the third day I already saw the results and was quietly happy. Within a week, the minor rashes disappeared and there was no inflammation left. The course was prescribed to me for 14 days. So in the second week, acne appeared again. Habituation develops very quickly. There is no point in using the cream for a long time. In general, it turned out to be weak for me, and they prescribed another antibiotic.”
