What diseases does Gelomirtol treat?

Gelomirtol is a herbal product. The drug thins and removes mucus, facilitates breathing, eliminates the accumulation of thick mucous discharge in the throat, which causes a constant desire to cough up. It also speeds up recovery due to its complex effect on the respiratory tract. Therefore, it often becomes the drug of first choice in the treatment of patients suffering from the following diseases:

  • bronchitis;
  • tonsillitis;
  • pharyngitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • laryngotracheitis;
  • tracheobronchitis;
  • flu.

The effectiveness of Gelomirtol does not depend on what caused the development of the inflammatory process - viruses, bacteria or suddenly activated opportunistic fungi. It can be prescribed to patients with breathing problems that are not associated with the introduction of infectious pathogens into the body. For example, when a smoker has a morning cough, natural oil will help soften and moisturize the mucous membranes of the oropharynx and reduce the number of attacks.

Pharmacological properties of the drug Gelomirtol forte

Gelomirtol Forte contains as an active substance an essential oil of plant origin - standardized myrtol. Myrtol standardized has a secretomotor and secretolytic effect, which leads to the liquefaction of sputum, activation of the mucociliary epithelium and, as a result, to intense sputum production. When used in high doses, standardized myrtol also has antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, antispasmodic and vasodilatory effects. Pharmacokinetics have not been studied.

pharmachologic effect

Instructions for use of Gelomirtol classify it as a pharmacological group of herbal medicines. Its active components are obtained from essential oils of eucalyptus, citrus fruits, and resin of coniferous trees. The drug has antimicrobial and fungicidal properties, has an antioxidant effect, neutralizes free radicals, and activates the mucociliary epithelium.

Taking the drug facilitates the process of expectoration, reduces the viscosity of sputum and bronchial secretions, and helps to activate the motor function of the mucociliary apparatus (causes a mucolytic effect). Additional medicinal effects:

  • antibacterial (suppression of the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria);
  • anti-inflammatory (reducing the severity of symptoms of inflammation in the alveoli of the lungs and on the mucous membranes of the bronchi and nasopharynx).

Pharmacological effects

The therapeutic effect of Gelomirtol on the upper respiratory tract is due to the properties of limonene, pinene, and cineole. These herbal components eliminate nasal congestion, exhibit anti-inflammatory and antiseptic activity, improving the condition of mucous membranes infected with pathogenic microorganisms. The following pharmacological effects are also characteristic of the herbal medicine:

  • distracting. Oils have a mild local anesthetic effect, increasing the sensitivity of respiratory tract receptors. Soreness of the throat and nose is replaced by a pleasant feeling of coolness;
  • regenerating. The active substance Gelomirtol stimulates blood circulation in the bronchi, pharynx, nasal passages and sinuses. The tissues affected by infectious and inflammatory processes begin to receive nutrients, which helps accelerate the healing of the mucous membranes;
  • decongestant. Limonene, pinene, cineole prevent the penetration of macrophages and leukocytes into inflammatory foci. There is no accumulation of infiltrate, swelling does not spread to healthy areas of the mucous membranes;
  • bronchodilator. Taking Gelomirtol leads to a change in the structure of mucopolysaccharides and an increase in the production of glycoproteins, as well as an increase in the motility of epithelial cilia. Now the mucociliary system actively transports infectious pathogens towards the oropharynx.

The drug transforms a dry cough into a productive, wet form within a few days. It reduces the degree of adhesion of viscous bronchial secretions to the mucous membrane and stimulates its expectoration. Gradually, breathing becomes smooth and deep, pain, soreness and dryness in the throat disappear, sleep and appetite normalize. A course of treatment with Gelomirtol allows you to get rid of headaches that are characteristic of almost all colds.
