Paracetamol composition
All tablets contain one active ingredient - paracetamol. In addition, the composition includes neutral excipients. There is a group of combination drugs, where the main one is paracetamol, the composition of the combinations may contain caffeine, codeine, aspirin, and other antispasmodics.
Attention! Tablets are the most harmless dosage form, starting from the age of 6. Sweeteners and flavorings included in the composition may cause allergic reactions.
Chemical formula and properties of paracetamol
The active substance is called differently around the world. USA, Canada uses the name "acetaminophen". Other countries such as Russia, Germany, the UK or Australia use the name "paracetamol".

- 4-(acetylamino) phenol or N-(4-hydroxyphenyl) acetamide.
Empirical formula:
- C 8 H 9 NO 2 or HOC 6 H 4 NHCOCH 3
It is an organic crystalline substance that is white or slightly cream-colored, odorless, and has a bitter taste. Melts at a temperature of 168 degrees.
Indications and contraindications for use
Paracetamol is a widely used over-the-counter drug for the treatment of hyperthermia, mild to moderate pain in all age groups. It has similar effectiveness to aspirin, but has no obvious anti-inflammatory activity and is less irritating to the stomach. It is believed that acne can be cured with paracetamol.
Contraindications for use are: hypersensitivity to paracetamol, acute liver disease, sucrose deficiency, fructose intolerance.
Dosage for adults
The dosages of domestic and foreign drugs sometimes differ significantly. For example, in Mashkovsky’s reference book, the adult dose is 0.2-0.4 grams 3 times a day. The daily dose should not exceed 1.5 grams. And the Vidal reference book recommends 0.5-1 grams, with 4 doses. In this case, the daily norm will be 4 grams. For reasons of effectiveness, pharmacists are inclined to believe that a dosage of 0.2 grams for an adult will not help and foreign dosages are closer to the truth.

Interaction with other drugs
Inadmissible combinations with paracetamol-containing drugs are only different combinations with phenobarbital. On the market these are mainly so-called “heart drops” (Corvalol, Valocordin and others).
It is advisable to exercise caution when taken together with any anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents (Heparin, Warfarin). This list also includes acetylsalicylic acid.
Serotonin reuptake inhibitors may interact, but proper management reduces this likelihood to a minimum.
