Medicinal properties

Sebidin has an antimicrobial, antiseptic effect, destroys viral cell membranes, and has a bactericidal effect. Eliminates plaque.

The active component chlorhexidine acts at the cellular level and suppresses the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria. Once in the stomach, the substance does not dissolve and is excreted by the intestines in an unchanged form. The active ingredient, ascorbic acid, increases tissue immunity, strengthens gums, increases their strength, and protects against periodontal disease. Vitamin C easily dissolves in the digestive system.

Sebidin®

Mechanism of action

The antibacterial effect of chlorhexidine is caused by its nonspecific binding to phospholipids of bacterial cell membranes. It inhibits the activity of dehydrogenase and ATPase within bacterial cell membranes and disrupts the permeability of the membrane to potassium ions, nucleotides and amino acids. Chlorhexidine has a bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect, especially on gram-positive bacteria and Candida
albicans ,
and to a lesser extent on gram-negative bacteria.
High sensitivity to the drug was observed in Streptococcus pyogenes , Streptococcus anginosus , Moraxella catarrhalis , Hemophilus influenzae
and
Staphylococcus aureus
,
Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus salivarius, Escherichia coli, Selenomonas,
anaerobic bacteria and
Candida albicans.
Streptococcus sanguis, Proteus, Pseudomonas ,
Klebsiella
, etc.
Veillonella species
show less sensitivity.

The antibacterial effect of chlorhexidine depends on the concentration. The drug has a bacteriostatic effect at low concentrations (less than 20 mg/l) and a bactericidal effect at higher concentrations.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is a necessary cofactor for many metabolic reactions, an important antioxidant in the aqueous media of the human body, promotes the elimination of free radicals, and maintains redox balance in the body.

Ascorbic acid is involved in the synthesis of carnitine, bile acids and steroid hormones, and prevents peroxidation reactions by free radicals and singlet oxygen. Takes part in the formation of collagen and other connective tissue proteins, ensuring bone regeneration and integrity and promoting the healing of wounds and burns. Ascorbic acid is necessary for intracellular reactions associated with the conversion of folic acid into folinic acid, the transformation of aromatic amino acids (phenylalanine, tyrosine) involved in the metabolism of adrenaline, promotes the removal of free radicals that are formed as a result of the activation of neutrophils and the neutralization of peroxide anions produced by macrophages. Ascorbic acid takes part in reducing the concentration of unbound iron, increasing its utilization and use for the synthesis of hemoglobin.

Side effects

Undesirable effects of the drug occur in rare cases. Local allergic reactions may occur, in the form of skin rashes, difficulty in nasal breathing, peeling of the insides of the mouth, as well as swelling of the salivary glands. The medicine can affect the taste buds, cause plaque, dark spots, and discoloration of the enamel. Inflammatory reactions on the membranes of the oral cavity and the occurrence of diarrhea are possible. With prolonged use, sebidine can discolor the surface of the tongue.

Reviews of the drug Sebidine

Dentists and otolaryngologists often prescribe the drug sebidine to their patients. Reviews about the medicine are mostly positive.

Karina, Krasnodar. Sebidine really helps with various inflammations. The doctor first prescribed it to me when I had a purulent sore throat. I liked its effect. Then, when my gums became inflamed, after reading the instructions, I prescribed it to myself. And he did not let me down again. The inflammation went away in a couple of days.

Nadezhda, Tomsk. I was prescribed Sebidine when my wisdom teeth were growing. It took a long time to grow, it was painful, his gums were swollen, and it was difficult to chew. Sebidin helped me relieve gum swelling. The pain also decreased after resorption. The tooth, however, had to be removed later anyway, since it was growing incorrectly and was of no use. After removal, I also dissolved sebidine so that everything would heal faster.

Oleg, Nizhny Novgorod. I recently had stomatitis, which was very painful and unpleasant. The doctor prescribed sebidine. The treatment was successful, the stomatitis healed in three to four days. Previously, this took a week.

Dosage

The drug is prescribed orally for resorption, 1 tablet. The frequency of administration is 4-5 times a day. The duration of therapy is 7-8 days. In individual cases, the daily dosage can be reduced to 3 tablets, but the duration of treatment is increased to 14 days.

It is recommended to use Sebidin after oral hygiene procedures and after meals. The tablet must be placed under the tongue and slowly dissolved until dissolved.

For the next 1.5-2 hours after taking the tablet, experts advise avoiding rinsing the mouth and drinking large amounts of liquids.

Reviews

Reviews about the drug from Internet users.

Marina, 34 years old:

For me, the most unpleasant thing about a cold is a sore throat. If you can at least somehow exist with a cough (I, for example, can simply get distracted and stop paying attention to it), then it is impossible to live normally with a sore throat. It gives me headaches and pain when swallowing... I can’t really eat or talk to anyone. Sebidin was recommended by a colleague who once became infected from me. After the first pill, I was convinced that the pain had really subsided. True, after a couple of hours I again felt this unpleasant sensation, but after the next pill everything became fine again. I took 4 tablets for a week and voila! All just great! I recommend it to everyone!

Reviews
Svetlana, 51 years old:

At the very beginning of inflammation in the throat, Sebidin is simply an irreplaceable remedy, but with a more complex or advanced form of the disease, it is better to combine the drug with other drugs, and it is better to seek help from a doctor. I was pleased with the pleasant taste of the tablets and the relatively low price, and all this with good results of therapy. Once I encountered gum disease (it was bleeding, it hurt). I was extremely surprised when the dentist recommended Sebidin. Of course, I bombarded her with questions and found out that in addition to treating a sore throat, Sebidin is considered a restorative and wound-healing drug for the oral mucosa. The treatment was completed. I was very pleased!

Vasilisa, 27 years old:

Over the past few years, I have not been able to live calmly during colds. My throat hurts so much that I can climb the walls. Soreness, pain, cough... No pills gave any results (and I tried a lot of them). When I bought Sebidin (and I didn’t even hope for an effect - among most lozenges and tablets it was in the “low price category”) I was simply amazed! From the first pill I felt better. The product is simply wonderful! I always use it now. I dissolve it during the day, and at night I put one tablet on my cheek so that the medicine will treat me all night; in the morning there are really no symptoms. The main thing here is not to stop treatment as soon as you feel better, you need to drink the entire course. In addition to all the advantages that I have identified for myself, I really like its taste and I do not have the desire to quickly dissolve the tablet or spit it out. Let’s just say I’m eating a delicious candy and getting treatment at the same time. It helps a lot!
