Description of pharmacological action

Medicines used for functional gastrointestinal disorders. Antispasmodics in combination with analgesics. The sum of belladonna alkaloids in combination with analgesics.

Release form

10 tablets in contour packaging without cells. 10 tablets in a blister, 1 blister in a pack.

Pharmacodynamics

Thanks to the m-cholinergic effect of belladonna extract, the drug reduces the tone and motor activity of the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract and other organs, and reduces the secretion of exocrine glands. The analgesic effect of the drug is due to the effects of metamizole sodium and the local anesthetic - benzocaine. Sodium bicarbonate neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Contraindications for use

• Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug; • glaucoma; • chronic liver and kidney diseases; • benign prostatic hyperplasia; • inhibition of hematopoiesis, neutropenia; • pregnancy; • children under 14 years of age.

Side effects

At the recommended dose, the drug is usually well tolerated, but the following adverse reactions are possible: from the digestive system: dry mouth, thirst, constipation; from the hematopoietic system: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis (due to metamizole sodium included in the composition); allergic reactions: urticaria, angioedema; from the nervous system: dizziness, weakness, headache, sleep disorders, agitation; from the organs of vision: possible dilation of the pupils (mydriasis); from the cardiovascular system: tachycardia (rapid heartbeat) may occur. If any negative reactions occur, you should consult your doctor regarding further use of the drug!

Directions for use and doses

Bellalgin is intended for symptomatic short-term use, so the duration of treatment is selected individually. Overdose

In case of overdose, side effects increase. In case of overdose, you should immediately seek medical help!

Interactions with other drugs

If you are taking any other medications, be sure to tell your doctor. The effect of metamizole sodium is enhanced by codeine, H2 receptor blockers and propranolol. Concomitant administration with other non-narcotic analgesics, tricyclic antidepressants, hormonal contraceptives and allopurinol may lead to increased toxic effects. Metamizole, displacing oral hypoglycemic drugs, indirect anticoagulants, glucocorticosteroids and indomethacin from protein binding, increases their activity.

Precautions for use

Before starting treatment with Bellalgin, you should consult your doctor. Due to the possibility of developing alkalosis (disturbance of acid-base balance in the body), it is not recommended to take the drug for a long time. Patients with atopic bronchial asthma and hay fever (pollen allergy) have an increased risk of developing hypersensitivity reactions. Use with caution in patients with severe diseases of the cardiovascular system. During the period of taking the drug, urine may turn red due to the excretion of metamizole sodium metabolite. If the signs of the disease do not begin to disappear or, on the contrary, the health condition worsens or adverse events appear, it is necessary to stop taking the drug and consult a doctor regarding further use.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The use of the drug during pregnancy is justified only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. If the drug is used by women who are breastfeeding, breastfeeding should be stopped.

We suggest you familiarize yourself with Pain during tooth extraction

Composition, sales and properties of the medicine

Bellalgin is an effective painkiller that provides a “freezing” effect, due to which the pain syndrome is eliminated and dulled. The main purpose is to reduce the severity of discomfort in the stomach area.

The drug is administered as part of complex therapy along with medications that eliminate the root cause of pain.

Bellalgin can be used to relieve toothache when the tablet is placed on the gum or hollow of a tooth.

The medication is sold in the form of tablets containing benzocaine (an analgesic component), belladonna herb extract, sodium bicarbonate and metamizole. The drug acts as an analgesic and antispasmodic, and has a hyposecretory effect. Belladonna extract reduces the secretion of lacrimal, sweat, digestive and bronchial glands, relaxes the muscles of internal organs. At the same time, the drug does not affect the condition and functioning of blood vessels, and does not change blood pressure. Sodium bicarbonate helps further regulate stomach acidity.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Bellalgin is used as a symptomatic remedy to relieve pain in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, which are accompanied by spasms of smooth muscles and increased secretion of gastric juice. The drug is effective for the following diseases and conditions:

  • Hyperacid gastritis;
  • Gastralgia;
  • Stomach ulcer;
  • Duodenal ulcer;
  • Spasm of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • Heartburn and belching;
  • Spastic colitis.

special instructions

It is better not to take Bellalgin in patients who require increased visual acuity. Treatment of patients receiving cytostatic drugs should be carried out under the supervision of a physician (due to the content of metamizole sodium).

Patients with hay fever and atopic bronchial asthma should be aware that when taking this drug there is a high risk of allergic reactions. Metamizole sodium, which is part of Bellalgin, can provoke the development of agranulocytosis, therefore, if there is an unreasonable increase in temperature, sore throat, chills, difficulty swallowing, proctitis, or vaginitis, it is necessary to urgently stop taking the drug.

If long-term treatment with Bellalgin is required, then it is important to regularly monitor the peripheral blood picture. Under no circumstances should you take tablets as a pain reliever for acute abdominal pain until the cause is determined.

You should not be afraid of such a phenomenon as a result of taking the drug, such as urine turning red. This is due to the release of a metabolite.
