Klenzit S cream: instructions for use, ointment and gel for acne and subcutaneous acne - composition and analogues

There is hardly a person in the modern world who has never experienced skin rashes or acne in their life. Formed as a result of various factors, they become the cause of serious complexes and dissatisfaction with one’s own appearance. Especially in cases where one small inflammation develops into a severe pathology called “acne.”

Conventional cosmetics are usually ineffective in the fight against acne. To eliminate this disease, more effective drugs are used, one of which is Klenzit S. An antibiotic-based drug was developed by the pharmacological company Glenmark specifically for the treatment of acute forms of dermatological diseases.

The international manufacturer of medicinal drugs has been producing products since 1977. Today the company is a world leader and occupies a leading position in the pharmaceutical industry.

What are retinoids

We all know vitamin A - Retinol, which is involved in the synthesis of RNA, many important proteins and cellular structures, forms the active center of many enzymes that regulate vital processes in the cells of our body. In addition to retinol itself, other substances have been isolated from natural sources - its derivatives, called Retinoids. One of the popular retinoids is Retinoic acid. On its basis, scientists have developed other retinoids, which are widely used in medicine to treat skin problems and malignant neoplasms:

  • Tretinoin (all-trans retinoic acid, Retin-A);
  • Isotretinoin (Roaccutane);
  • Adapalene (Klenzit remedy).

In the last century, Adapalene was a research product of the French laboratory Galderma, and in 1966 it was approved by the American Food and Drug Administration FDA.

Adapalene , a retinoid for topical use, belongs to the third class of retinoids and, unlike Tretinoin, has a more stable chemical structure. This substance, according to the recommendations of the Global Acne Outcome Improvement Alliance (International Alliance for the Treatment of Acne and the Consequences of Acne), is a first-line treatment (drug of choice), independently or in combination with benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin. In addition, it accelerates the disappearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused by acne, in other words, post-acne.

Also, other products from this group promote the penetration of other medicinal substances into the skin.

Price

Clenzit is sold in pharmacies and is available without a prescription. If desired, order via the Internet. The price of a tube with a capacity of 15 g is from 340 rubles. up to 400 rubles, cost of 30 g of cream 537-700 rubles. The shelf life of the cream is 3 years from the date of manufacture. After the first use, it should be used within 12 months. Used sparingly. When applied daily to the entire face, the product lasts for 2.5 months. It should be stored in a cool place, away from direct sunlight; it is not necessary to put it in the refrigerator.

Composition and release form

Clenzit is the active substance of which Adapalene also contains the following components:

  • Disodium edetate (antioxidant and antioxidant, increases skin permeability);
  • Carbomer 940 (gelling agent);
  • Propylene glycol (humectant, preservative, prevents the proliferation of microbes, viscosity regulator);
  • Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (preservative, prevents the proliferation of microbes);
  • Phenoxyethanol (preservative, prevents the proliferation of microbes);
  • Poloxamer 407 (emulsifier, surfactant);
  • Sodium hydroxide (alkali, helps loosen skin scales, drying and exfoliating agent, pH regulator);
  • Purified water.

The composition of this gel is simple. What conclusions can be drawn based on the composition?

  • This product is a gel in composition and calling Klenzit an ointment is fundamentally incorrect. In order to understand how the gel differs from the ointment, we suggest that you read this article.
  • This product contains 3 more components, which are preservatives and prevent the proliferation of microorganisms, both in the gel itself and on the skin after its application.
  • The drug contains 2 components: disodium edetate and sodium hydroxide, which help loosen the cells of the surface layer of the skin, and as a result, deeper penetration of the main component of the gel into the skin layers.

It is also important that Klenzit contains Adapalene not in a simple form, but in a micronized form, which allows Adapalene to better penetrate cells and interact more quickly with receptors.

Composition of this medicinal product

"Klenzit S" is a combination drug intended to eliminate acne. It contains 0.1% adapalene and 1% clindamycin. Adapalene is a synthetic analogue of retinoic acid. Clindamycin is a substance with a pronounced antibacterial effect.

The drug is produced by the manufacturer in a single pharmacological form - in the form of a gel. Thus, calling it cream or ointment is fundamentally incorrect.

The Klenzit S package contains 1 tube of 1 mg + 10 mg/1 g of gel of 15 g or 30 g.

The gel has a light structure, is quickly absorbed into the skin, after which it immediately begins to have an effect.

Adapalene is a substance belonging to the group of retinoids. It has properties important for acne-affected skin:

  1. Able to dissolve sebaceous plugs in skin pores.
  2. Helps prevent the accumulation of dead cells on the epidermis.
  3. Significantly reduces the process of sebum production.
  4. Stops the development of inflammation.

Thus, adapalene affects the main cause of clogged pores - excessive sebum secretion, hyperkeratosis (a phenomenon in which dead skin cells linger on the surface of the epidermis).

A detailed description of “Klenzit S” can be found in the annotation.

klenzit with acne

Clindamycin is an antibacterial substance of semi-synthetic origin. Belongs to the group of lincosamides. Clindamycin is active against coccal and anaerobic microorganisms. They are most often the cause of persistent and profuse acne. In addition, clindamycin has a bacteriostatic effect, that is, it is able to stop the proliferation of bacteria due to the destruction of their protein structures. As a result, the inflammatory process is reduced, infection of the sebaceous glands is eliminated, and acne regression is observed.

This combination of components in Klenzit S allows the use of a medicinal gel for the treatment of severe acne, accompanied by uncontrolled formation of comedones and bacterial inflammation.

How does Klenzit work?

This medicine helps reduce acne breakouts and the severity of blackheads by normalizing processes in the epidermis. The main component, Adapalene, penetrates the cell and binds to retinoid receptors, after which it triggers a cascade of biochemical reactions, the result of which is the normalization of differentiation (the process of cells executing a genetically laid down correct program) of keratinocytes - the cells that form our skin.

Histological section of skin before and after application of adapalene.

The photo shows that the structure of the epidermal cells has become more formalized. Image C (before use) and D (after use) . The cells of the lower layers of the skin form a more structured layer (typical of young skin) image B (after use) compared to A (before use) .

This in turn leads to a reduction in pore clogging and the formation of comedones. In addition, in the absence of clogged pores, sebum and sweat do not accumulate there, which are a good environment for the proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms. This is one of the effects that prevents acne and inflammation of the follicles.

In connection with the correct differentiation of epidermal cells, another important property of retinoids is realized - anti-cancer.

However, many retinoids, especially the first generation, such as Tretinoin, are unstable in light and when exposed to oxidizing agents. Therefore, doctors recommend using topical retinoids and vitamin A preparations at night to avoid exposure to UV radiation on the skin.

The high regenerative ability of Retinoids, in particular Adapalene, allows them to be used as anti-wrinkle agents. Read more about this in our article.

  • Klenzit gel

It is worth mentioning that another important effect of Adapalene is the inhibition of the synthesis of arachidonic acid, a precursor of prostaglandins, substances involved in the development of inflammation. This reduces redness, swelling and pain at the site of inflammation.

Systemic adsorption of Adapalene (the amount of substance that enters the systemic bloodstream) is low, which is confirmed by FDA clinical studies (using the example of Differin gel, an analogue of Klenzit).

Mechanism of action of the medicinal gel

Reviews about Klenzit S are mostly positive. This is due to the effectiveness of adapalene, the effect of which is enhanced by clindamycin.

Already at the initial stages of therapy, positive changes in the condition of the skin can be noted, such as:

  1. The greasy shine disappears, the oiliness of the skin is significantly reduced.
  2. New pimples and comedones stop appearing.
  3. Already appeared comedones disappear as a result of cleansing the mouths of the sebaceous glands and dissolving plugs.
  4. The number of dead epidermal cells on the surface of the skin decreases, resulting in softer skin.
  5. The inflammatory process gradually disappears.
  6. The balance of skin microflora is restored, resulting in the strengthening of local immunity.

klenzit with packaging

What is the difference between Klensite C and plain Klensite?

These two products have only one difference: Klenzit-S contains the antibiotic Clindamycin, which enhances the anti-acne effect of the gel. Otherwise, both gels are absolutely identical in composition; the concentration of Adapalene in both is 0.1%.

To the question, which Clenzit is better to choose? The answer is not clear-cut. It should be understood that when changing an anti-acne product, you need to carefully read the composition to avoid unwanted effects. We wrote about this below in the subsection of analogues, namely about the product Zinerit.

With long-term use, Klenzit-S allows you to clear the skin of rashes of varying severity and localization, as well as smooth the skin and reduce post-acne marks and pigment spots at the site of application. Ordinary Clenzit is more often used to treat isolated rashes, “whiten” blackheads and normalize the processes of natural skin renewal, including getting rid of wrinkles. Therefore, you need to proceed primarily from the condition of the skin at a given time.

Using the drug for spots and scars

The gel does not have a special targeted effect on eliminating scars left after acne. Acne scars remain atrophic (pits), the formation of which occurs due to a lack of collagen in the skin. Klenzit S is not capable of influencing this process. That is, it is ineffective in the fight against acne scars.

A slightly better result can be achieved if you use Klenzit S on acne stains. The drug is able to somewhat lighten the skin and exfoliate the upper layer of the epidermis. Thus, the skin tone gradually evens out, and acne spots become less noticeable.

Contraindications to the use of Klenzit and Klenzit S

Klenzit gel is contraindicated for:

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of this product;
  • Pregnancy (retinoid preparations are teratogenic - cause deformities in the fetus);
  • Lactation period;
  • This is not written in the instructions, but allergic skin rashes such as urticaria and skin itching of unknown etiology should also be added here, because in this case irritation may increase.

In addition to the above, Klenzit S has the following contraindications:

  • Inflammatory bowel diseases: ulcerative colitis, pseudomembranous colitis, Crohn's disease, incl. history (with simultaneous systemic use of clindamycin);
  • Children under 12 years of age (due to lack of clinical data).

Clenzit C is also contraindicated during pregnancy, including due to the presence of the antibiotic Clindamycin, which can pass into breast milk.

Instructions for use

The gel is intended for external use only. A small amount of the product is applied to previously cleansed skin using gentle strokes without further rubbing in the ointment.

The drug should not be applied to wounds, cracks and other damage to the integrity of the skin.

For the best therapeutic effect, it is recommended to use the product in the evening. If the ointment is used during the day, then after applying the medication, it is not allowed to apply other cosmetic products to the treated areas of the skin for two hours.

The duration of the course depends on the degree of skin damage. For acute forms of acne, the gel is used twice a day, and the duration of therapy can reach one month.

There are some features when using the product:

  1. Application in summer. The medicine contains a high dose of retinoid, which increases the sensitivity of the epidermis to ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, when using the drug during periods of high solar activity, it is imperative to apply a cream with an increased level of sun protection to the skin before going outside.
  2. Use during pregnancy. The medication is contraindicated for pregnant women and new mothers during lactation.

Side effects

Side effects of the drugs are caused by the so-called retention, which is expressed in:

  • Redness of the skin at the site of application;
  • Irritation and dry skin;
  • Itching and even the presence of a burn.

Some girls with particularly sensitive skin may get skin burns from the adapalene present in the composition. Having received such a burn from Klenzit, a logical question arises: how to treat it? In this case, to speed up skin healing, you can use one of the tissue regenerators - Methyluracil or Solcoseryl. Bepanten has questionable effectiveness.

Don't be alarmed even if you experience irritation - all these effects can be observed at the very beginning of treatment and tend to resolve after a short break.

A break from using Klenzit and other drugs containing retinoids should be taken until the skin at the site of the lesion is completely restored.

Other side effects, including allergic reactions and effects similar to those caused by skin retinization, may be caused by other components of the gel. In any case, if side effects occur, you should stop using the drug. If, after resuming use, side effects persist, which is rare, then you should completely abandon this medicine.

Clenzit C has more side effects, which is due to the presence of Clindamycin in the composition, namely:

  • Exacerbation of inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, especially when combined with Clindamycin tablets and other macrolide antibiotics;
  • Allergic reactions to this antibiotic (including the immediate type, such as urticaria);
  • Folliculitis caused by microflora resistant to Clindamycin;
  • Local skin reactions (dry skin, erythema (redness), skin soreness, irritation, swelling of the skin, burning sensation, discomfort, contact dermatitis, sunburn at the site of gel application, peeling of the skin, increased production of the sebaceous glands);
  • Irritation and swelling of the eyelids.

Avoid contact of Klenzit and Klenzit S with the eyes and mucous membranes to avoid severe burns. In case of contact, be sure to rinse the area with plenty of water.

Often Klenzit C causes peeling - the skin peels off due to chemical irritation of the epidermis at the site of application. This phenomenon may disappear with regular use of the gel once a day every day. If peeling persists for a long time, then you should stop using it until the skin recovers and consult a dermatologist; peeling may be due to a reaction to Clindamycin or other reasons. In this case, you will most likely have to replace the drug.

Contraindications

The main contraindications are intolerance to one or more components that are part of the cream. It is also prohibited to use Klenzit S in the following cases:

  • patient under 10 years of age,
  • simultaneously using preparations with retinol,
  • the presence of open wounds, burns and other unhealed injuries to the epithelial surface on the skin,
  • during pregnancy and lactation it is strictly prohibited,
  • with the parallel use of drugs to normalize the functioning of the sebaceous glands,
  • the presence of dermatitis, eczema on the skin.

After applying this drug, you should avoid any contact with the sun's rays and do not visit the solarium.

Indications for use

Both products, according to the instructions, have only one indication - acne. We see that there are more of them and these products are fully justified, which is confirmed by various clinical trials.

Treatment with Klenzitom can be carried out independently; this drug is highly effective, quite safe when used as directed and is sold without a doctor’s prescription.

However, if you are under 18 years of age, you should consult a doctor and carry out treatment under adult supervision to avoid unpleasant consequences.

Adviсe

Keep in mind that at the very beginning of treatment with Klenzit C, a temporary exacerbation of acne and acne on the face is possible. It's quite normal. During the treatment, the skin will gradually clear.

It should also be taken into account that retinoids inevitably increase skin sensitivity to the sun.

Therefore, if you want to use the gel during periods of solar activity (summer, spring), then during this time you must definitely use sunscreen , in particular, high-quality creams with a high level of protection.

Completely avoid using fat-based cosmetics. For pimples and acne, only water-based cosmetics are allowed.

In what cases is Clenzit used?

The active ingredient of this drug has an extensive pharmacology and many positive effects, which have been noted in foreign clinical practice. However, this gel cannot always be used for its intended purpose, so we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the methods of using this gel depending on the original problem.

For wrinkles

For wrinkles, klenzite is not yet officially used in Russia, but there are many foreign clinical studies that have proven the effectiveness of Adapalene in reducing wrinkles and regenerating the skin.

Image taken from a clinical trial of the anti-wrinkle drug adapalene

Patients applied Adapalene at a concentration of 0.3% to the areas where wrinkles formed once daily at night for 3 months. A general improvement in skin condition was noted. (Link to study #1). Adapalene preparations with a concentration of 0.3% have not yet been registered in Russia. There are also studies where 0.1% Adapalene (Klenzit concentration) was used, and a positive effect was also noted.

It should be understood that the higher the concentration of the drug, the higher the risk of developing retinization and unwanted skin reactions.

For acne and blackheads

Clenzit is an excellent remedy not only for rashes located on the surface of the skin, but also for subcutaneous acne. It is important to understand that for a better effect in the presence of large foci of inflammation, Klenzit-S or analogues containing, in addition to Adapalene, the following substances are more suitable:

  • Benzoyl peroxide;
  • Antibiotics;
  • Or azelaic acid.

To treat pimples and acne, Klenzit and Klenzit S must be used according to medical recommendations and instructions for medical use, namely: apply the drug once a day in a thin layer (!) on inflammation and do this, if possible, at night.

It is important to understand that the effect of this drug and other drugs in the Retinoid group is cumulative and develops gradually, so get ready for regular use for at least a month. The result is definitely worth it.

For post-acne

People suffering from acne due to this disease have only two problems:

  1. The acne itself;
  2. Post-acne.

And solving the second of them often requires much more time and effort. In this case, Retinoid preparations are simply a godsend. We already wrote above that in the treatment of acne and pimples, Adapalene reduces the likelihood of the appearance and accelerates the disappearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which has been proven in clinical studies. (Link to study No. 2) In addition, products with retinoids tend to reduce skin pigmentation due to their effect on melanin, a pigment found in the skin.

Therefore, it makes sense to use Klenzit for post-acne, as well as for unwanted pigmentation not only on the face, but also on the body, for example, pigmentation resulting from exposure to sunlight and UV rays, pigmentation resulting from skin inflammation.

From blackheads and comedones

Clenzit performs well in:

  • Ability to lighten skin and comedones themselves;
  • Influences the development mechanism of skin cells, resulting in a decrease in keratosis (thickening of the skin) in the areas of pores and hair follicles, as well as normalization of the processes of removing skin products from the pores.

From which it follows that Adapalene preparations are a very effective remedy

from comedones and blackheads.

For rosacea

The two remedies differ in composition, and that is why they must be considered separately from each other when treating Rosacea.

Simple Klenzit will be effective if there is no secondary attached infection of a microbial, fungal nature or demodicosis.

Klenzit C is used in the case of complicated rosacea when microbial flora is attached, as purulent inflammation occurs.

We suggest that you read the question on the forum, where medications for the treatment of rosacea are given:

Pharmacodynamics of the drug

Adapalene acts by binding to specific skin receptors. At this stage, differentiation of skin cells occurs. That is, the substance acts exclusively on damaged epidermal cells without affecting healthy ones. Getting into the mouth of the hair follicles, the substance reduces the adhesion of epithelial cells, thereby preventing the formation of small comedones.

The anti-inflammatory effect of adapalene is based on stopping the processes of converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, which cause and maintain the inflammation process.

Clindamycin is highly effective against bacteria that cause acne - propionobacteria. However, other microorganisms that can live and multiply on the surface of the skin are also sensitive to clindamycin. Quite often, they are the ones who provoke the inflammatory process in the sebaceous glands.

The main effect of the substance is bacteriostatic. However, a bactericidal effect against some bacteria may also occur if clindamycin is used in high doses.

The simultaneous inclusion of these substances in the composition of the drug gives it powerful effectiveness against inflammatory processes.

Adapalene and clindamycin complement each other perfectly, simultaneously acting on the various causes of acne. As a result, a more significant effect is observed.

Analogues of Klenzit gel

Among the analogues, there are analogues in composition and analogues in action. Analogs in composition contain the same active ingredient - Adapalene . Analogues of action contain other active ingredients, including agents from the retinoid group, antibiotics or other antibacterial agents.

Differin

If you have a question about what is better: Clenzit or Differin, then let’s first compare them in composition.

Klenzit Differin
AdapaleneAdapalene
Disodium edethateDisodium edetate
Propylene glycolPropylene glycol
Methyl parahydroxybenzoateMethyl parahydroxybenzoate
PhenoxyethanolPhenoxyethanol
Carbomer 940Carbomer 940
Poloxamer 407Poloxamer 182
Sodium hydroxideSodium hydroxide
Purified waterPurified water

As we can see, these two drugs are complete analogues. And after reading this article and comparing the composition, you now understand that they are one and the same. However, in many foreign clinical studies, Differin was used, which appeared on the pharmaceutical market earlier than Clenzit. Indications for use are also acne. Differin is also available in cream form.

  • Differin cream

Adaklin

Adaklin is another analogue of klenzite, only in the form of a cream, not a gel. You can read the difference between cream and gel in this article.

Adaklin has the following composition:

  • Adapalene;
  • Methyldextrose stearate;
  • Macrogol;
  • Natural squalane;
  • Methyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  • Propyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  • Glycerol;
  • Cyclomethicone;
  • Disodium edetate;
  • Phenoxyethanol;
  • Carbomer;
  • Sodium hydroxide.

Indications for the use of Adaklin are also acne. Therefore, it doesn’t matter at all whether you choose Adaklin or Clenzit - the effect will be very similar.

BUT! If you are wondering which of the drugs Clenzit, Differin or Adaklin to use for wrinkles, then I recommend Adaklin.

Firstly, the cream penetrates deeper than the gel and lasts longer on the skin.

  • Adaklin cream

Secondly, Adaklin contains Squalane, a terpene substance of natural origin. Squalane has a moisturizing, anti-aging, softening effect and has a beneficial effect on the skin.

Baziron AS

Both of these drugs are used to treat acne and pimples, but they belong to different groups. Baziron AS contains an antiseptic - Benzoyl peroxide, which has also proven itself in the treatment of acne. Unlike antibiotics, resistance to benzoyl peroxide is very difficult to develop, and its spectrum of activity is very broad.

  • Baziron AS

The important thing is that these two products can be combined and used simultaneously. At the beginning of the article, in the description of Retinoids, we wrote that Adapalene is a retinoid that is resistant to oxidation and therefore can be used together with Benzoyl peroxide. Moreover, there is already such a drug on the Russian pharmaceutical market, it is called “Effezel”.

Effezel

Effezel is a combination drug containing Adapalene and Benzoyl peroxide. This combination is superior to mono-treatment with Klenzit alone, especially for extensive rashes.

  • Effezel gel

You can read more about Effezel in this article.

Using Skinoren

Skinoren is an excellent analogue for the well-known drug Klenzit, so many patients often have the question of what is better to choose Skinoren or Klenzit?

To make the right choice, you need to carefully study all the nuances of the drug , as well as evaluate its properties and possible side effects.

The main component in Skinoren is a fairly effective azelaic acid . It is able to be quickly and intensively absorbed, providing its anti-acne properties.

Its use completely suppresses the possible spread of Propionibacterium acnes (this bacterium is only the causative agent of acne), and significantly reduces the oiliness of the skin surface.

It is recommended to use this product Skinoren on the personal advice of an experienced dermatologist.

The gel is used as follows : first, it is important to apply a thin layer of the product to all particularly affected areas of the skin, while avoiding possible contact with the skin around the mouth and eyes.

In the case where there are few acne on the face, then the product will be most effective when applied precisely , without missing the affected areas.

A rather unpleasant moment when treating with the drug can be a strong burning sensation , which is why you should use the medicine in a thin layer. The burning sensation is often a little stronger than the sensation from a regular hand cream when it penetrates deep into the epidermis.

That is why you should always be prepared for such sensations and not give in to panic.

Analogs of Clenzit S gel

For Klenzit C gel, it is advisable to consider analogues with antimicrobial action and containing other antimicrobial components besides retinoids.

Zenerite

Often on cosmetic websites, when asked: which is better, Zinerit or Klenzit, they often write that Zinerit, unlike Klenzit, is effective only at the early stage of acne formation, and then is ineffective - this is completely untrue .

Both drugs are equally effective at any stage of purulent-inflammatory rashes on the face, be it acne, rosacea or just pimples.

But there are a couple of features.

Firstly , to treat acne and large foci of rashes, you should use not a simple remedy, but a Clarithromycin-enhanced one - Klenzit-S, which eliminates the cause of purulent rashes - bacteria.

  • Zenerite

Secondly , often cosmetologists or people themselves thoughtlessly change products one after another, fearing that the skin will get used to it (and this is not about the skin itself, but about the microbes that cause acne). On the one hand, this is justified, but on the other hand, they often do not pay attention to the composition of medicinal products.

For example, a person used Zinerit for acne for a long time, the effect was long-lasting, after a period of remission rashes appeared again, and the same person goes to the pharmacy and buys a good, effective remedy, Klenzit-S. After some time, the effect develops, but is far from the desired one. Why did it happen?

With prolonged use of Erythromycin, which is contained in Zinerit, microbes develop resistance to it, and they continue to multiply, causing more and more acne. In addition, Clindamycin in Klenzit-S belongs to the same group of antibiotics, macrolides, as Erythromycin. And bacteria that have become resistant to Erythromycin quickly become cross-resistant to Clarithromycin, and treatment is ineffective.

At the same time, it is very difficult to acquire microbial resistance to retinoid preparations, so they can be used for a long time. So, if you decide to replace Zinerit or Klenzit-S with something else, pay attention to preparations containing benzoyl peroxide (Baziron AS, Effezel) or azelaic acid (Azelik, Skinoren).

Clindovit gel

These two drugs have similar names, so they can be confused. To prevent this from happening, you should pay attention to the composition of these gels. Klenzit S contains a combination of active ingredients: Adapalene + Clindamycin, and Clindovit - only Clindamycin. It follows from this that Klindovit is inferior to the first in effectiveness. In addition, we should not forget about microbial resistance that may arise to Clindamycin with long-term use.

  • Clindovit gel

Rozamet

Rozamet , a drug containing Metronidazole, is positioned as a cure for rosacea, although this is only a publicity stunt. Also included in the indications is the treatment of acne.

Metronidazole is an antibacterial drug that suppresses the development of pathogenic skin microflora that is sensitive to it. As an antibacterial agent for the treatment of pimples and acne, Metronidazole has proven its effectiveness, however, in comparison with Klenzit S, which contains Adapalene, which also prevents the appearance of post-acne, the former is clearly inferior.

There are no cheap and equally effective analogues to Klenzit S gel on the Russian market yet. Our opinion is that in this case the effect justifies the cost of the drug, which applies not only to Klenzit, but also to other drugs containing Retinoids. Over time, cheaper analogues will presumably appear.

We do not advertise medicines and do not promote Klenzit; you can pay attention to other drugs of your choice. Just please pay attention to the proven effectiveness of the drugs you choose.

After this article, you may get the impression that Retinoid drugs and, in particular, Klenzit are a panacea for many skin problems, but this is not so. Like any medicine, this gel has side effects and contraindications, which should not be neglected. At the same time, when used as directed, this drug is highly effective.

Features of drug therapy

There are several features of treatment using this drug:

  1. As a rule, at the initial stage of treatment, acne intensifies, and the visual condition of the skin noticeably worsens. You shouldn't be afraid of this. Such a reaction indicates the beginning of the gel’s action - it draws the infection from the deep layers of the skin to its surface. If you are concerned about such manifestations, you should consult a doctor.
  2. Under the influence of adapalene, the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet rays increases. Accordingly, treatment with this drug is not recommended in the summer. During therapy you should also avoid visiting the solarium. Among other things, you should take maximum measures to protect your skin from sun rays at any time of the year.
  3. In parallel with the use of the medicinal gel "Klenzit S", it is necessary to moisturize the skin with special means. To do this, you can purchase “Dexpanthenol”, “Panthenol” or “Bepanten” at the pharmacy. They should be applied half an hour after applying Klenzit S.
  4. If other drugs are also used to treat acne, it is necessary to separate their use in time. That is, if Klenzit S is used before bedtime, then an alternative remedy should be used in the morning.
  5. If the medication accidentally gets into the eyes or mucous membranes, rinse them immediately with running water.

Reviews

We invite you to read reviews about the use of Klenzit-S gel for acne, and if you have any questions, you can always ask your question on our cosmetic forum.

I often suggest that my patients use either Clenzit-S or Effezel gel as the drug of choice. Each of them is good in its own way, but they are united by one thing - the presence of Adapalene in the composition, which perfectly fights both existing inflammations and preventing the appearance of new rashes.

Ksenia, Dermatologist, Moscow

Once upon a time, three years ago, I was looking for a universal remedy for acne and subcutaneous inflammation. The pharmacist at the pharmacy advised me to pay attention to Klenzit. At first, I was skeptical, but after reading the reviews on Instagram, I decided to try it. And that’s it, now this is my favorite remedy that saves me from this problem. It helps perfectly both against a pimple that has already appeared, and against one that is just starting to break out and is present on the skin in the form of a painful tubercle.

Svetlana, 24 years old, Kubinka

I used Azelik gel for a long time, about three years. However, over time, I noticed that it was helping worse and worse. I decided to try Klenzit-S gel. What can I say? The gel is good, however, its effectiveness is much weaker. The presence of an antibiotic also raises questions, since I know that bacteria can get used to it over time. And I’m wondering if it makes sense to overpay for Klenzit-S, when you can just buy a simple gel with adapalene, which, judging by research, also works well alone.

Reviews from cosmetologists and patients about this drug

Doctors note the high effectiveness of the drug, the positive effects of which are noticeable already in the initial stages of its use. Cosmetologists quickly relieve inflammation of the skin, prevent the appearance of new rashes, and significantly improve the texture and color of the skin. Also, the drug is effective not only against acne, but is also able to fight subcutaneous acne. Experts note the particular importance of following the recommendations in the instructions for the drug.
