Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Kipferon - suppositories for adults and children, which after use have a therapeutic effect:

  • activates the protective functions of the immune system. The immunomodulatory effect is to increase the activity of “protective” cells that recognize and destroy pathogenic microflora. Additionally, the main substances (and these are ready-made antibodies that prevent the development of viruses and bacteria) of Kipferon help to increase the production of these “protective” cells;
  • prevents the development of viral infection. Kipferon components block the process of reproduction and growth of viruses;
  • prevents chlamydia from developing and multiplying;
  • helps destroy pathogenic microbes. The drug prevents bacteria from multiplying and also has a destructive effect on the membranes of pathogenic microflora;
  • prevents the development of inflammatory processes. The anti-inflammatory process is based on activating the immune system and reducing the formation of cells responsible for the development of the inflammatory process;
  • reduces the growth of cancer cells. Thanks to the components of the drug, “protective” cells quickly identify cancer cells and inhibit their growth and reproduction;
  • helps restore microflora in the intestines and vagina;
  • due to the pronounced antimicrobial activity, there is a rapid elimination of the symptoms of the disease (high temperature, aching joints, runny nose/cough, and others).

The above-described actions to destroy pathogenic microflora are observed not only in tissues, but also in the bloodstream, lymph, as well as in pleural and joint fluid. Additionally, Kipferon reduces the risk of developing a relapse of the disease, since the components of the product create a protective barrier on healthy cells, and also activate the removal of “neutralized” pathogenic microflora from the body.

The therapeutic effect is observed at any phase of the disease development. Improvement in well-being occurs approximately 30-40 minutes after using the product and lasts up to 12 hours. The metabolism and removal of drug components from the body has not been studied.

The main reasons for the need to use the drug Kipferon during pregnancy

Since no side effects were identified when using the drug, Kipferon has no contraindications. For this reason, in medical practice, Kipferon is prescribed during pregnancy. As a rule, the drug is recommended for pregnant women who have been diagnosed with genital herpes.

Every second person is a carrier of herpes, and according to some data - 90% of the population. The location of the virus is the peripheral nervous system in the spinal region. The virus may not manifest itself due to its suppression by the human immune system until the body’s protective functions are weakened. As soon as a decrease in immunity occurs, herpes begins to infect the body.

During pregnancy, the immune system is rebuilt to ensure the development of the fetus, which is a foreign body for the mother's body. To prevent the body from getting rid of the “foreign”, nature arranged it in such a way that the immune system of the expectant mother weakens. This is a necessity for a successful pregnancy, and for “dormant” herpes it is a stimulus for the progression of the disease.

In the category of women who were carriers of the virus even before pregnancy, the fetus is protected by maternal antibodies. Herpes, which is contracted during pregnancy, is of particular concern. In such cases, the fetus is at risk of infection, which can cause:

  • Spontaneous abortions in the early stages of pregnancy. According to statistics, 30% of all pregnancy failures occur in cases of herpetic viral infection;
  • at later stages - miscarriages. In half of all miscarriages, the cause is the herpes virus;
  • the birth of a child with defects such as congenital brain defects, visual and hearing impairment, damage to the central nervous system, deviations in physical development;
  • at 20-34 weeks of infection - premature birth.

The drug Kipferon is designed to prevent the negative consequences caused by herpes infection in a pregnant woman. Being highly effective, the drug acts directly on the herpes virus, stimulates local and general immunity and provides the necessary concentration of interferon in the blood of the pregnant woman.

Indications for use

Experts recommend using Kipferon in the following cases:

  • if there are symptoms of acute respiratory infections (fever, headache, joint pain and other signs);
  • when diagnosing ARVI or influenza;
  • for viral and bacterial pathologies of the oropharynx;
  • with pathologies of the digestive tract of an infectious nature (for example, dysentery, dysbacteriosis or salmonellosis);
  • the presence of chlamydia, including in pregnant women;
  • diagnosing infectious microflora in the vaginal mucosa;
  • to eliminate herpes infection;
  • in the treatment of thrush and elimination of inflammatory processes in the vagina;
  • hepatitis of viral and bacterial origin;
  • for infectious pathologies of the upper and lower respiratory tract;
  • in the preoperative and postoperative periods to prevent the addition of pathogenic microflora;
  • in the presence of frequent colds due to severely weakened immunity;
  • when eliminating papillomas on the external genitalia;
  • for prophylactic purposes during colds;
  • when diagnosing an infection in the urinary system;
  • prostatitis in acute or chronic form;
  • the presence of small anal fissures;
  • in the treatment of cancer pathologies. Kipferon is used only in complex therapy.

Additionally, the drug is recommended for use in childhood (especially in premature babies), since the body does not yet have a strong immune system and is susceptible to frequent infection.

Important. Kipferon is prescribed only in complex therapy along with the use of antibiotics or antivirals (with the exception of preparation for surgery or when using medication to prevent infection during colds).

Reviews from doctors

Makarchik Anna Sidorovna, pediatrician:

“The easiest way to catch a viral infection is for a child with an immature immune system. This can happen anywhere: at home, at a party, in kindergarten or on the way to it. I consider Kipferon suppositories to be the best treatment option in such cases, even for the smallest ones. They quickly begin to have a depressing effect on the pathogen, so the symptoms of the disease quickly disappear.”

Tonina Valentina Ignatievna, gynecologist:

“The herpetic virus, including the genital one, is difficult to treat. The drug Kipferon helps to overcome it in one or two courses.”

Contraindications

Kipferon (suppositories for adults are the same as for children) is not prescribed by a doctor for the following contraindications:

  • allergy or intolerance to the components of the suppository;
  • first trimester of pregnancy. Kipferon at the beginning of pregnancy can cause a miscarriage;
  • HIV;
  • the presence of uterine or intestinal bleeding, as well as menstruation;
  • severe diarrhea (when using Kipferon for injection into the rectum);
  • in the presence of autoimmune pathologies;
  • Until the child reaches 6 months, suppositories can only be used under the supervision of a pediatrician.

Pharmacological properties:

Suppositories "KipferonO" is a complex dosage form containing human recombinant interferon-α2 and a complex immunoglobulin preparation (CIP). Interferon-α2 is an activator of innate and acquired immunity, has pronounced antiviral activity, enhances protection against viral, chlamydial, mycoplasma and bacterial infections, has an immunomodulatory effect in the development of immunological reactions, promotes the growth and preservation of intestinal and vaginal flora. The biological activity of interferon-α2 is realized through interaction with the receptor apparatus of immunocompetent and other cells, leading to increased expression of HLA I and HLA II molecules on the surface of all types of cells and regulation of cell cooperation, increased activity of natural killer cells, as well as imparting resistance to intact cells against their cytolytic actions, proliferation of CD8 T cells. Increases the production of interferon gamma by natural killer cells. The complex immunoglobulin preparation KIP contains specific and nonspecific immunoglobulins of classes G, M, A. The combination of antiviral, antichlamydial, antibacterial and antitoxic antibodies belonging to various classes of immunoglobulins ensures agglutination, neutralization and precipitation of etiotropic pathogenic agents. At the site of application, it ensures the stabilization of interferon from the secretions of the mucous membranes, normalizes local immunity due to the supply of IgA and IgM with suppositories (replacement effect), and increases the activity of locally produced cytokines.
