Ribomunil: instructions for use, composition, properties

Mode of application

It is recommended to take Ribomunil on an empty stomach in the morning. Its single dose is one tablet (0.75 mg), or three tablets (0.25 mg dose), or one sachet, dissolved in a glass of boiled water. It is better not to stop treatment with this drug even after the disease disappears, but to continue for prevention. In the first 3 weeks of taking Ribomunil, it is recommended to take it only on the first 4 days of the week. Then again on the first 4 days of each month for five months. We recommend carrying out prophylaxis 2 times a year for 3 months, or 1 time for 6 months.

Ribomunil: side effects

Side effects of Ribomunil may appear at the beginning of therapy, but do not have pronounced symptoms and, as a rule, do not require discontinuation of the drug. Side effects include vomiting, nausea, transient hypersalivation, diarrhea and possible allergic reactions.

The drug Ribomunil, reviews of which are very controversial, is indicated for use only after consultation with the attending physician. This instruction is presented solely for familiarization with the drug.

Ribomunil is used for children from 6 months of age. It is best used in granules, first dissolved in boiled water.

Efficacy studies conducted at the Department of Pediatrics of the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation confirmed the effectiveness of the drug Ribomunil. Reviews from doctors indicate a decrease in the frequency of acute respiratory infections and a decrease in the number of asthma attacks. Ribomunil gave a positive effect already in the first 3 months of treatment. 36.4% of frequently ill children never suffered from respiratory infections during the observation period. In the remaining children, not a single case of protracted acute respiratory infections or relapse of the disease was recorded.

The drug Ribomunil can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but this requires a doctor's assessment of the expected benefit to the mother and the possible risk to the child.

Pharmacological action of Ribomunil

The drug has pronounced immunomodulatory properties and has the ability to stimulate cellular and humoral immunity. Ribomunil contains ribosomes that contain antigens that are identical to surface-type bacterial antigens and that is why, when they enter the body, they cause the synthesis of antibodies to these microorganisms. Simply put, Ribomunil's ribosomal antigens stimulate the production of specific antibodies to Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae. This drug activates T- and B-lymphocytes, the synthesis of serum and secretory immunoglobulins, alpha and gamma interferons, interleukins. It is in all this that its preventive effect on the body lies.

Description and composition

The drug is a combination of bacterial ribosomes. The complex includes particles of the most popular pathogens of respiratory diseases. The isolated ribosomes contain bacterial antigens, and therefore, after ingestion, they cause active production of antibodies in the human body. The effect of Ribomunil can be compared to the effect of a vaccine. After taking the drug, both specific and nonspecific immunity increases, which leads to an improvement in the body’s overall resistance to microbes.

During treatment, an increase in the number of interferons, immunoglobulins, lymphocytes, and interleukin is observed. This mechanism of action allows the use of Ribomunil as a therapeutic and also prophylactic agent for viral diseases. With the help of Ribomunil, you can achieve faster recovery, reduce antibiotic dosages and increase the effectiveness of other drugs from a comprehensive treatment regimen.

Contraindications

The drug Ribomunil is contraindicated, first of all, in autoimmune diseases and in cases of increased individual sensitivity (intolerance) to the drug. A transient increase in body temperature is possible within 2-3 days, but this, as a rule, is a manifestation of a therapeutic effect, which, of course, must be reported to patients. Ribomunil, reviews of which are very controversial, should be used only after consultation with a doctor. This instruction is presented solely for getting acquainted with the drug and nothing more.

Ribomunil

Ribomunil is a bacterial immunostimulant. Indicated for the treatment and prevention of ENT infections (inflammation of the middle ear, nasal mucosa, paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx, palatine tonsils), respiratory tract infections (diffuse inflammation of the bronchi of a chronic nature, inflammation of the mucous membrane of the trachea, lungs, bronchial asthma with the presence of bacterial component). Possible use in pediatrics in patients older than six months. The composition of the ribosomal-proteoglycan matrix of Ribomunil includes the most common microbial pathogens of ENT and respiratory infectious diseases. The drug also has a preventive effect against viruses. The inclusion of Ribomunil as one of the components in the combination therapy regimen makes the treatment more effective, brings the moment of recovery closer, and reduces the need for antibacterial drugs and bronchodilators. The frequency of taking Ribomunil is 1 time per day. The optimal time to take it is in the morning on an empty stomach. The regimen for taking Ribomunil is given in the instructions for use. At an early age, it is recommended to use the drug not in powder, but in granules. Scheme for conducting preventive courses: twice a year for three months or once a year for six months.

Side effects when taking Ribomunil (dyspeptic symptoms, increased salivation, allergic reactions) develop relatively rarely, have no clinical significance and do not require suspension or discontinuation of the medication course. Contraindications to taking Ribomunil include systemic immune diseases and individual intolerance to the components. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not direct contraindications to the use of the drug, but it must be used with extreme caution in this category of patients. On the 2-3rd day of the drug course, a transient pyretic effect is possible with an increase in body temperature to subfebrile levels and/or signs of the development of an infection of the ENT organs, which is evidence of the onset of the drug’s effect and does not require interruption of pharmacotherapy. Cases of overdose and unwanted drug interactions of Ribomunil with other drugs have not been described in the medical literature to date. Ribomunil can be combined with other drugs (antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs, bronchodilators).

Ribomunyl and Transfer Factor

(very important note)

The cost of Ribomunil is about 350 rubles per package of 4 tablets. The course of treatment for infectious diseases is about 6 months, which is about 2000 rubles . Exactly the same functions are performed by Transfer Factor Classic, 90 capsules of which are enough for a month, and with a loading dose (6 tablets per day) - for 15 days, and its cost is 1990 rubles . Only TF has no contraindications and does not cause any side effects; it is impossible to overdose and has no age restrictions. Among other things, its effect on our body is deeper and more dramatic - it puts in order damaged human DNA, i.e. removes the cause of the disease, rather than treating its consequences. But if you still decide to use Ribomunil, then we advise you to take it with TF in combination, because When taken this way, TF neutralizes all the side effects of Ribomunil. You can learn about the use of TF here.

You should be careful when prescribing this drug to patients with HIV infection and periarteritis nodosa.

If there is an increase in body temperature within 2 or 3 days, this indicates a therapeutic effect and is not a reason to stop taking the drug. The patient must be informed in advance about the possible reaction of the body.

special instructions

On the 2-3rd day of treatment, a slight increase in temperature is possible, caused by the therapeutic effect of Ribomunil. This symptom does not require discontinuation of the drug and goes away after some time. In parallel with the increase in temperature, other typical symptoms of ENT infections may occur.

If pronounced and unexpected reactions occur after starting treatment, this may be a manifestation of hypersensitivity and requires discontinuation of treatment.

The drug is not prescribed during acute intestinal infections.

Immunostimulants based on bacterial components, including Ribomunil, can trigger an asthmatic attack. In this case, treatment is stopped.

The drug does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions, so it can be used in drivers.
